  1. I haven't been to Alamogordo since I was planning for the F-117 Stealth Fighter around 2006 (Holloman AFB). I agree, going through Roswell and Ruidoso is an easier route for a MH. The Space Museum has been updated over the years and is a nice visit (at least the last time I was through there). They add some nice track sled stuff - pretty interesting. HAM (the first Chimp in orbit) is buried there (near the flag pole in-front of the Museum). White Sands is beautiful (esp as the sun drops low). Just be careful about soft White Sand (gypsum) on the edges of the road through the park.
  2. Can you post a picture(s)? Did you have to send measurements to Shade Pro or did have have a listing for your 2005 Monaco? Thanks - Jim
  3. Thanks everyone. My main issues with the usefulness or reliability, but how to use without losing all my slide out bay storage. If I put the unit on the bay slider, I will only be able to access additional stored stuff from the other side (I have two slide out pass-through bays). I could add the refrigerator to driver's side of the bay, but that would be much less convent. Thanks again for all the info so far. Jim
  4. I just replaced both my slider cover awnings (carefree Omega II) covers. The cover material was cheap - $80 for the 14' one and $70 for the 8' one. Found them on Amazon - cut to fit. The actual replacing was pretty easy too. My adult son and I changed them both out in an afternoon. Jim
  5. I'm thinking of adding a bay refrigerator/freezer to our new to us 2003 Monaco Dynasty Jack (38').What brand and size are used by the manufacturer (Monaco) when providing this option?I see that I have power in the bay - standard outlet.Experiences with bay refrigerator/freezers? How do you mount? Do you loose all access to the bay from the side the refrigerator is located (I have two pass through bays with sliding trays). DW thinks it would be nice to have, I agree, but don't want too many down sides. With our 38' mh and a tag axle, not as much storage under the mh as a non-tag.The Dynasty Jack is a two slide only unit - both open to the driver's side, so the camping (passenger) side of the mh doesn't have any slide-outs to interfere with bay usage. Thanks - Jim and Sue
  6. Thanks for all the help above... Problem again with my salesman solenoid - I have been disconnecting 120v power and 12v power from the motorhome while replacing roof A/C capacitors, new shrouds, and general clean-up. Needed to have all power off.Current state (pun intended) is that some of the 12v works in the mh but not everything. For example, the A/C thermostats work, but some of the 12v lights and the holding/water/battery full panel do not work.It seems that I have two solenoids for 12v power. I can test with a 12v probe and see no power getting across one of the solenoids. It is getting very hot though, so I disconnected the house batteries for now.I have a new solenoid on order - should be here in a couple of days.I also plan on just jumping the "bad" solenoid to see if that solves the problem (at least for now). However, it seems strange to me that the "bad" solenoid is getting so hot (with the house batteries connected). Hot as in can't keep a finger touching it. Does that make sense? I have tried to make sure most 12v items are off in the mh.Also, when I jump the solenoid, I plan to use 4 gage battery wire (about 8") with eyelets. Do I need to remove the two control wires to the solenoid? (WHITE - I assume ground and PURPLE - I assume control from the switch up by the passenger's seat)?I'm hoping that the heat issue goes away (by jumping and/or with the new solenoid). Thanks everyone for the help so far. I think I'm getting close to solving this and several other gremlins - in general the mh seems in very good shape, I just don't think some of these things were maintained much for the past few years (before my wife and I purchased a couple of months ago).My goal is to get everything working and reliable.Jim and Sue
  7. Thanks Ivan - that helps. I seem to be getting good charging of both house and chassis battery systems. Jim
  8. Thanks David, I am thinking pretty much the same. I do have factory solar - could that be the upper right heat sink? I has a green light even when batteries are disconnected, but not at night (I think). Jim
  9. I replaced both the receiver/drier AND the expansion valve on my system. I found that I had lots of high side pressure and low low side pressure - so the compressor was good, but blockage in the system. I was getting 5-10 psi on the low side and 225+ psi on the high side (outside air temp around 100 degrees). So, I was getting blockage. Mine had a good bit of crud in both the receiver/drier and the expansion valve. Neither are very expensive - worth replacing if you have the system apart. I think my expansion valve was less than $20. My system is OK now - could be better. I am going to spend some time cleaning the condenser coils on the radiator side and make sure that the fan is running good. I'll know more when I have the unit out and running for a while at highway speeds. Static, I was getting about 52-55 degree temperatures at the dash vent. I was hoping to see around 48 degrees. Jim
  10. New to me 2003 Monaco Dynasty Jack - 38' two slides and tag. Can anyone help me identify the circled components? (these are behind a panel in the engine compartment on the passenger side rear of the MH) I included a picture without the draw overlays - thought it might be more clear. Trying to get smarter about the MH systems I had some issues with the salesman solenoid - it is working now, I think it is the BLUE circled component. If so, is this a latched type or does it need power all the time to stay activated. I am looking at having a spare on hand, so I replace if necessary. If so, anyone know the part number? Finally, is this the component that I can jump across the two big lugs if it fails and I need my 12v DC back. When I lost 12v DC power, I found that I lost a lot of capabilities - esp. no a/c thermostat (so no a/c). Thanks - Jim
  11. Looks nice Jeff. I might do the same. I do have new LED bulbs to put in all the marker lights - hesitant about pulling covers until I have replacements (old lenses (even those that are not faded) are pretty brittle). Jeff - when you replaced your lights, did you have to cut the old wires and splice in the new ones, or did you have enough slack wire on the old light to get to the original connection? Thanks all!
  12. Anyone know of part number and or source for the amber and red rounded rectangle marker lights for a 2003 Monaco Dynasty?I would like to just replace just the covers (I am okay with purchasing the entire light if necessary), but would like to just pop the faded covers off and put new covers on the old base. The lights work fine and the bases all seem to be in good condition.A lot of covers are close in size, but not quite right. Thought maybe someone found something that is an easy snap off the old ones and then snap on nice new ones. Thanks - Jim
