Thank you for your feedback, you and I have been down the same roads searching for answers. DriveRite has been of some help to me in the past, however had they have furnished me ALL the information they had in a more timely manner it would have saved me time and money. Wednesday an RV Repairman and I after 4 hours of frustration decided to quit, and search for more knowledge, we had a LR Voltage fault, and could not find out why, something was amiss.
In an email exchange of messages, very early Thursday AM, with Ireland they shared two pieces of information they had never given me. When I had an inside dual blowout from a road-hazard in 2019, the tire tore off the LR Height Sensor. A Roadside Tire Repairman made a temporary fix, he plugged the airline to the Left Rear Airbag in the air manifold by putting on a short airline with a shutoff valve. He then put a Tee fitting into the right side airbag airline and connected it to the left side Airbag , it worked, we were on the road again. I purchased a replacement Height Leveler from Drive Rite, in fact I bought four, one I had installed the other 3 were spares as I was told they were scarce. They were Universal, but came with no instructions. I had the LR installed, wouldn’t work, reverted to the previous repair. Had three different RV Repair Shops attempt to fix the problem, each reverted back to original repair.
‘Ireland Thursday, March 28, 2024 finally furnished a piece of information I should have received in 2019. The Universal Switch requires moving a ground wire from one pin to another in the plug in, the original switch has six pins, the new one only three, but one wire in the harness plug-in has to be moved, and they had a flyer showing how to do it. It did not come with the switches I purchased. PLUS, I was told if you change one side due to malfunction, you have to change both RR and LR sides at the same time. The linkage on the original Switch and the Universal Switch are a different length. Original Switches were specific, there was a RR Switch, and a LR Switch and were not interchangeable. Originals were made of plastic, Universal made of steel. In this case, what is not broken, gets fixed/replaced as well. That knowledge would have saved me a lot of time and money had it been timely.
A few weeks ago I found a man who had a brand new, never been used, ECM, I exchanged a part I had for it, as a bonus he sent me a new original Height Sensor, looking at it I realized it was a RR one. I contacted him, ask if he had the LR, he had sent that one to another guy he was helping, he thought they were universals. I contacted the man who had the LR, offered two of my new Universals, including the wiring flyer, for it. I told him if he ever has a need to change his, he has to change them both, the one he had would only help him if he needed an LR, we are exchanging parts, I will have brand new, original RR and LR switches this week, I am 99% sure it will solve my voltage issue. I am hoping it allows the Software to set and lock-in the Ride Height settings, this is now my “unknown.”
My need now is more information, than I have, on how the Software works, and what all needs to be set in a NEW ECM that has never been programmed before.
