  1. When you put new house batteries in, check their voltage before you connect them. They’ll be around 6.2 v each. Then, once installed let the combo do its thing for a couple of hours and check again. If the batteries are still around 6.2V or so you’re fine. It will be obvious if the charging loop on the combi is still wide open
  2. I am about to replace my factory shocks with Koni's. (2008 Monaco Camelot 42PDQ) : The Bilstein replacement shock is 24-187305 for all 10. The Koni numbers are 8805-1004 for the front and 8805-1005 for the rear. Anybody ever done this and know why? I would think that the shocks need to be the same all around? Secondarily: Koni has two part numbers for these shocks.... The same number ending in SP1 is for the same shock but with a 3/4" eye on each end. If the part number does not end in SP1, then the upper eye is 11/16" and the lower eye is 9/16". I'm not sure which one I have and I don't understand how Bilstein can get it right with one part number for all 10 whereas with the Koni shocks, I have to know things that I don't readily know. Obviously I do not wish to have to remove a shock and put it back on to make sure I order the right ones. Has anyone been down this trail before? Factory shocks are 13 years old (40K miles) and are doing the job albeit a little porpoising on a wavy road.
  3. Thank you guys for the support. Found a switch at Oreillys. $20 and YAY I have dash lights!
  4. Drove new to me 2008 42PDQ to Corpus Christi - first time driving this one at night. No instrument panel lights. 1) all instruments working properly 2) rotated the headlight switch which is normally dimmer for this style headlight switch). No luck i have read that fuse/ relay schematic and checked every fuse that is even remotely related to headlight, instrument, ignition or accessory. None are blown. Anybody have the magic bullet in this? Perhaps a bad headlight switch?
  5. Thanks Gary; I removed the sofa and found the access panel. what a pain! But I know have a working external tv YAY!
  6. Keyhole mounting? Only way that there could be rear access on mine would be to remove the sofa. There MAY be a panel or a hatch that I can’t see.
  7. My coach has a sofa along the interior wall “behind” the TV enclosure. There’s no access unless hidden behind sofa
  8. 2008 Camelot 42PDQ. The outside tv does not receive a signal from the antenna. PO stated that the window above it was removed in order to install a fridge and it hasn’t worked since. He figured that the cable got monkeyed up in the process. i need to remove the tv in order to access the cable. Anybody know what holds that rascal in there? I tried to slide it straight up to dislodge any slide in hooks, no joy. There is no access to any screws that I can see? Anybody?
  9. Alright TOM Cherry: Advice well taken. This is the 3rd residential install that I have done, I did not leave the insulation in either of my previous installs because the insulation was all mangled anyway. I left it in this one because it looked good. REGARDLESS: I unscrewed the refrigerator, removed my upper bracket and slidd that puppy forward so that I could yank out the old insulation. I did that solely based on your warning. Today I insulated the covers that used to be necessary fir the propane burning unit. I figure that the RF18 Samsung does not need the ventilation and it is better to keep the cold out.
  10. I just had 8 new tires installed on my new to me Monaco Camelot 42PDQ. I was expecting to see 100-110# in the 6 rear tires. The label in the coach recommends 85? Max tire pressure on these (GoodYear G70 295/80R22.5) is 120#. I like to be close to max inflation, 85 seems too low. Anybody got any logic to share?

  12. ok all done ...yes I found that there is an inverter outlet in there! I did not remove the insulation on the sides, my bad -- Ill need to do that in the am. On second thought - - what difference would it make on the sides? The case is insulated for that purpose. I understand not to block airflow down low in the front or in the back? I did however seal up the original vents. Thanks guys for the help! I have secured mine top and bottom from the back.
  13. I am installing a Samsung RF18 into my 2008 Camelot 42PDQ. Does anyone on here know offhand where I can find the nearest inverter circuit? I am sure that the outlet that is behind the existing fridge is NOT an inverter powered one. I need to power it from the inverter when I am traveling. FWIW I did this very same upgrade on my 2002 fleetwood discovery and the modified sine wave 2000 watt inverter would carry the fridge without any problems. The Samsung would run for 3 days on the house batteries before exhausting them. We almost never go more than a day without some form of external power so it works great for us. I also think that when travelling with the fridge running with inverter power - - that the alternator will keep up with the load indefinitely.
  14. After much tinkering around I found the problem. For starters, the pex pipe that goes from the hose connection up to the vacuum breaker under the bathroom sink....is red in color. The pex pipe going FROM the vacuum breaker/check valve is blue in color. Somewhere between the vacuum breaker and the rinser - the pipe changes color again back to red. That was kinda weird. None of that was the problem. The check valve AND the vacuum breaker were installed backwards. Once I determined which way the rinse water was supposed to flow, its was an obvious issue. The check valve blocked any water flow TO the vacuum breaker. I reversed the check valve & reconnected the lines and when the water is turned on the VB sprayed water. Thinking it was bad, I removed it and blew into it and VIOLA.....ITS INSTALLED BACKWARDS. I swapped that around and TADA...now I get the joyous sound of rinse water hitting the walls of my empty black tank. I am thinking I may ask the PO if HE tinkered with this or if it was that way from the factory ....That would mean that this man did not flush the pooper for 12 years....
  15. Yes Dennis. My coach has a road king or something like that satellite in motion dome. I think it’s R2D2 up there but less user friendly
  16. I bought diesel fuel this week for $1.62 a gallon at our local walmart neighborhood market. The only problem is that I cannot drive my coach into the pump. It's a whacky traffic plan. I roll in there in my service truck, fill up the slip tank and go home and fuel the coach.
  17. New to me 2008 Camelot has the SaniCon system. Not so sure I like it. It's slow. Even draining gray water takes awhile. I like the whoosh of a fast flush and the joy of rinsing the black tank. Has anyone ever removed theirs? Also.... My tank flusher is plugged. I have filled the black tank with freshwater (garden hose in the toilet Cousin Eddie style) and placed not one but 2 packets of Commando black tank cleaner. I let it sit for 5 days and then pumped it out via the sani con. Still no joy - anybody know another good way to unplug that rascal? Or perhaps anything else to check? There is no check valve in the wet bay at the hose connection, but I am sure there is one somewhere else......where? Beats me.
  18. Greetings; New to me 2008 Camelot 42PDQ. I am about to change the fuel filters. I am well versed in this kind of operation, but I do not know if the 08 Cummins ISL engine has an electric lift pump. I will likely fill the filters before I install them when I am at home. However, Having had to change filters on the road on several occasions.... I don't plan on carrying a gallon of diesel to prime with. Will this engine prime itself with the repeated cycle of the key? If it wont, I may plumb in a 12V inline priming pump.
  19. New to me 2008 Camelot 42PDQ. PO said that he never used the surround sound. ME? I love stuff like this. Anybody know what device in the coach feeds the audio to the speakers? I am guessing that it is the 5 disc CD changer that he never used either but I dunno. Also: PO had DirectTV and I don't, is there anyone on here that has a way to subscribe and use directTV OCCASIONALLY rather than having a full time subscription and shelling out $100 a month for a coach that you use maybe 10 times a year?
  20. Thank You Dennis, Actually my mailbox thanks you!.
  21. For some reason I am automatically "following" every thread I read. This results in receiving a notification every time anybody posts on any thread I may have read. Is there anyway to tell the site that I only want to follow threads that I reply to or create?
  22. Bingo on the cigar motors. After much studying of the panel I found a fuse labeled "Visor" it was blown and the replacement fuse blew the second I attempted to operate the passenger shade. After removing the assembly and cutting the wire -I stuck a good fuse in there and tested the wires....Got -13vdc when I selected up and +12vdc when I cycled down. The fuse did not blow. Two motors ordered and on the way.
  23. 2008 Monaco Camelot. Sorry I thought it was in signature.
  24. New to me Camelot. PO zip tied the shades up because they quit working. both passenger and driver switches do absolutely nothing. I have squinted all over the fuse diagram and cannot seem to identify the fuse or relay that I need to replace. Anybody know offhand?
