  1. I noticed today that my cabin batteries appeared to show they were boiling a little water over from too much charge. Just a little but not enough to need to add any water to fill. I checked my inverter and it showed charging of 13.6, my cabin batteries showed 13.6 volts and my engine batteries showed 12.6. I cut the cabin battery switch off in the battery bay and waited about 2 hours and checked again. My inverter showed charging 13.6 and the engine batteries showed 12.6. Should the inverter charge the engine batteries to 13.6 volts? According to my manual both sides of batteries should charge on inverter, alter, and generator .I am attaching a picture of my set up. I've replaced the solenoid, ONLY because it appeared orginial, but not the little black box above it. Checking to see if I have a problem or not. 2001 Hoilday Rambler Ambassador .Thanks for the help.
  2. Thanks for that info Frank. I have one honey do, cut grass, to complete then I will try what u outlined.
  3. I checked the wires, one had 12 volts and the other had a good ground. I used a new sensor, put the end of it into a container of water and plugged it into the system. The low water light continue to stay on. I back fed the signal by putting a paper clip into the plug and the light stayed on. Taking the MH to a shop on tuesday that can put their scanners on it and hopefully find my problem. I believe that when its say and done it will be a loss wire or a dirty connecter. Trying to save a trip to the shop.
  4. Thanks DR4Film. Is that available on any website I could check?
  5. I used a code reader on my 2001 Holiday Rambler ambassador with a 5.7 cummins and allision 2100m trans. The problem is I can't make heads or tails on how to read the code. It came from under the 128 ecu. It reads PID384FM12. Under PID384 it says : Component specific request paramenter. Under PM12 it says :Data erratic, intermittent or incorrect. Not sure where to start looking to correct the problem. My Check trans and low coolant light has come on. With the light on the trans temps go up above 200 quick. When light isn't on trans temp runs 160 tp 170. This code seems to be causing my low water light as well. Thanks for the help.
  6. Ray the sad thing is I called the an allison rep about my problem and he was the one who gave me the garages that were suppose to work on the trans. The garages told me they work on allision trans but will not work on a moho. I ask if they would at least proform a scan on it and they said no. I checked my phone tonight and I called 13 garages trying to get some help. Most of the ones that didn't work on moho referred me BACK to the same allision garages I had already called. It was a suprise to some of them when I told them I had already spoke to the garage and they refused to help. As I posted earlier I did talk to 2 Rv garages but they didn't on chassic problems. I try to carry enough tools to fix some problems but this experience has shown me how alone someone could be out on the road looking for help.
  7. Finally made it back to Va on friday. I started coming down the road from Bangor Maine with the "trans light' on and got about 20 miles and the trans temp started to heat up fast. Got to around 200 degrees so I pulled over to allow it to cool. Thanks goodness for the NEW trans temp gauge I just put on before the trip. I spend 3 hours and called at least 12 shop trying to get someone to help with no luck. No one works on motorhomes. Even the shops that work on allison trans refused to ever scan mine because its a MOTORHOME. I did find 2 rv shops that told me they didn't work on rv chassic only the coach. I finally found a young man that said he could scan it but wasn't sure he could work on it. I decided to give him a chance. I started to drive the 10 miles to meet him and he came halfway and met me at a mcdonalds. His lap top was unable to receive get any info about the trans from the 6 pin plug at the drivers seat. He crawled under the rear where the motor is located. He found another connected with several wires and was able to connect to the ecu and found NO codes causing the trans light to come and stay on. HOWEVER he found water and build up oil and grease inside the connecter. He cleaned it out and things were back to normal, no more 'trans light'. Before I met up with him he had called around on his own and found a shop in Portland that said they could help me out if I could make it to them. After all of this he only wanted to charge me 40.00 for all his trouble. Needless to say he received a very good tip. His name is Brad and his company is called Defiance Diesel (207) 938-2833. If you fine yourself close to Bangor and have a problem it would be worth a call to him.
  8. I had my oil pressure gauge act up and my trans "check light" come on recently. After checking several things I finally found one of the plugs that connected several wires back in the engine compartment had corrosion and build up oil and grease and they were not making connect. After a good cleaning things worked. Good luck. Things like this can drive you crazy.
  9. I agree, Just looking for something I may have forgotten. Looks like southbound in the morning. Thanks for the help.
  10. I've only owned the coach for 10 months and with the trans light on I just don't want to hurt the trans. Still learning how to interpred all the info its putting out.
  11. I show 14.1 volts once the engine is running and I installed an inline trans temp gague from glow shift because this year rig didn't send that info through the ecu. My wife has been real good through all of this but not sure what one more day of delay will cause. Thanks for the input.
  12. The 2100 doesn't have a trans pad to be able to read codes. I have a hand shifter instead of the push button. Thanks
  13. Woke up this morning in Bucksport Ma wanting to head back to Virginia and when I started the Motorhome, 2001 Holiday Rambler Ambassador 5.9 cummins, and my "Trans Check" light came on. I read the codes on my scan gague D, then called scan gague and they said the code showed a "voltage below normal or shorted high". I have checked the batteries and both sides show 13.8 to 14 volts. Took apart and cleaned all connections to the transmission and checked the NEW alternator. Everything checks out. I had to drive it around 1/4 mile to another camp site and the trans shifted to 2nd and 3rd no problem. After cleaning and checking everything I cancelled the code, now no more codes show up but the "trans light" still comes on after 15 seconds of starting the engine. Tried to get a portable shop to come take a look but they can't make it anytime soon. Need to get back home. Any suggestions? It have the allison 2100 transmission so no pad available to read any codes May have to make a run for it with the light on if I can"t come up with something. Thanks
  14. Just replaced the step motor and controller on our 2001 Holiday Rambler. It was doing the same thing your is doing. I took it apart and found some corrosion in the motor. Decided to order the replacement kit for mine because certain parts weren't available any longer. The new parts were very easy to install and were plug and play. If you call kwikee they will give you all of the info you would need to repair or replace yours.
  15. I'm getting Jim at source engineering to get a ride enhancement kit for my 2001 Holiday rambler. I contacted two RV garages in the Richmond Va area to complete the install for me. One said no, the other wants to look at the kit first before they will comment. I may get a little help and try to do it myself. My kit only covers the front air bags, not the rears one, but does include rear shocks. Any advise or if anyone knows of a garage that may help in the area let me know. Thanks
  16. Thanks for the help. Just gave my friend this info and he's ordering new lights now.
  17. A friend of mine just purchased a 2004 Monoco Monarch SE and the headlights are yellowed and cracking. Can anyone help with where he can get replacements for them. Thanks
  18. I am wanting to replace the front and rear air bags on my 2001 Holiday Rambler Ambassador rr4r motorhome. I'm trying to find the part numbers for them and I've sent Monaco an email but haven't heard back from them yet. I have contacted a garage to replace them for me but they said they will have to remove them to get the part numbers THEN put the old ones back on until the new ones come in because of shop space. I do have a few parts numbers but not sure if they are correct for my motorhome. They both are goodyear numbers, front w01-358-9586 rear w01-358-9587. Thanks for any help.
  19. Here are the NAPA parts numbers of brake parts used on my 2001 Holiday rambler ambassador Rear Rotors BB0140CR Front Rotors BB6835CR F & R Brakes FT7655F Brake Calibers SE8609 Theses are all NAPA part numbers and this work order is hard to read even with my glasses so please double check them. Hope this helps.
  20. Robert will attach the NAPA part numbers I have when I get home on Sunday evening. I'm trying to gather as many numbers as I can for future use.
  21. Just put our 2001 Holiday Rambler Ambassador with a Roadmaster chassis DP, in the shop for brake work. Just found out I need new pads for front and rear. New rotors all around and calipers for the rear axle. The problem is they can cross reference through NAPA but I don't have parts numbers to cross reference. I'll have to pay the shop to take these items off to get the numbers and then put it back together in order to free up a bay while waiting for the parts to be delivered. I have checked the downloads on this website and thus far have found nothing. I am looking for part numbers for brake pads, rotors and brake calipers.
  22. I took my 2001 hoilday rambler ambassador in to have the abs system checked for codes and to replace the abs computer. The garage called today and told me they didn't have the software to talk to my abs computer. They also had trouble locating the abs computer on the motorhome. According to the garage the computer was suppost to be mounted in the drivers side bay in front of the front tire and it isn't there. They also told me the brake system was a gen 4 bendix system and thats the solfware that would be needed to check for codes. In there defense they only scheduled me for a computer scan so they didn't have a lot of time to look for the location of the computer. Can anyone help with the location of the computer on the motorhome and locating the software needed? I'm going to pick it up and attempt to replace the computer myself because its just pluges in to the system. After that I want to get the system checked to make sure things are ok. Thanks
  23. I've noticed when the ignition key is on and the engine NOT running the aternator light on the dash isn't working. I checked the wire and it has a one way diode in line between the dash light to the alternator and it has continuity as well. I can remove the wire off of the alternator and ground it and the light on the dask comes on. Other then that the alternator is charging as it should. I decided to replace the alternator because I wasn't sure of its age and trying to avoid other problems. After installing the new alternator I still have the same problem. The alternator is wired correctly so my question is, is the dash light suppose to come on with the key on and the engine not running or only if the engine is running with a FAILED alternator? Thanks
