Talin is now the new Southern Monaco experts since Alliance went out of business. We do all service work except engine, transmission and chassis services. Our specialty is slide adjustments and repair as well as awnings and all house portion work.

Unfortunately the word has gotten out and people are coming from all over the country for service work so we are booked months in advance. 80 % of our work is done on Monaco brand coaches with a sprinkling of other brands including Newmars, Prevosts and Entegra's.

I will keep you in mind.

  2. I live in Orlando, FL and need a repair to my coach’s plumbing. I can’t find anyone in Orlando that is A: willing to work on a Monaco; B: will work on an Rv over 10 years old.

If I remember correctly, Monaco had a service center in Wildwood, Fl that is now an independent RV service center but still works on Monacos. I don’t remember the name it now goes under.

Does anyone remember the new name?

Apparently when Holiday Rambler/Monaco told the workers to put the port under the 3 inch dump port they said get it close, I also replaced mine with a 10 inch boat port that allows the bayonet fitting to hook to the 3 inch dump port.

Where did you get the boat port? I have the same “get it close” situation. I have to use a very old, almost worn out sewer hose. I purchased a new one but can’t use it. I also have a clear 45 connector but it just magnifies the misalignment.

I believe there's a small hole/crack in the pressurized door seal on our coach.  Lazydays (Tampa) is supposed to fix it.  If I EVER get it back from them, I'll know more.

Good luck with Lazy Days in Tampa. I have heard many people that have had poor luck with them. I’ve heard many say they gave good service.

However, I’ve never used them so I have no experience with them. I live in Orlando so they’re too far away.

  5. We started with an Airstream in 2006. My wife doesn’t trust household toilet paper but I do so to keep the Missus happy, we use RV toilet paper.

I used to use the Orange stuff in little packets and add one every day. Not long ago I switched to Digest-it by Unique. It is an enzyme that, well, digest the solids. They make a sensor cleaner formula as well. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=unique+rv+digest-it+holding+tank+treatment&crid=1HXLVCIFPHBB8&sprefix=unique%2Caps%2C101&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_4_6

So far no odor & seems to dissolve everything. It was recommended by the National RV Training Academy.

Happy Camper is also good. I’d probably use Happy Camper if I couldn’t get Digest-it.

  6. Question: my 2001 Diplomat has two bays that extend the full width of the basement. One door has a locking latch and the one next to it doesn’t have a lock (never has had a lock, it has a blank in the latch instead of a lock).

The weird thing is there is no separation between the two bays. Is there supposed to be one, it doesn’t appear to be designed for one. How can I add a lock?  It does no good to lock one and not the other. The doors on the opposite side are the same way, one locks and one doesn’t.  All you’d have to do is open the one with no lock and you can reach in and unlock the door next to it.

BTW, the door for the LP tank doesn’t have a lock either but it is separated by a partition. i can see where a lock would be an obstacle if there ever was an emergency.

Curious, is the leak inside the valve or on the outside?

I'm not really sure where the drip is coming from.  It is dripping from the valve area so it could be the O-ring or one of the joints nearby.  I drips down into the wet bay and then onto the ground.  I haven't been able to stop it.  I really don't like the idea of it dripping on the ground.  I was at a electric/water only site so the hose opening had the "lid" screwed in, but some was still dripping out.  When I dumped, there was a good half inch of black water in the bottom of the wet bay.

  8. I discovered I have a drip from my black tank.  I replaced the valve and it was hard to close so I replaced it with a different brand but still getting a drip. I feel like the first time I replaced it the O-ring on one side bunched up and was causing the leak.  I made sure it didn't happen the second time.

Has anyone else had a leak that wasn't because of the slide valve?  What did you do?

The TV is still in the front but we do plan on putting a TV on a lift behind the J-sofa directly across from the new sofa.

Our TV is in the front cab also.  Our college age sons travel with us most times.  There isn't really enough seating for all of us to have a comfortable view of the TV (we have a sofa behind driver's seat and Eurocliner behind the co-pilot's seat).  The angle is just not good for someone to sit in the co-pilot's seat.

I am interested in placing a TV lift cabinet under the window behind the co-pilot's seat (no slide on this side of saloon) and slide the Eurocliner over by the sofa and use the driver's seat and/or the co-pilot's seat plus sofa for TV viewing.

Now my question: has anybody done this?  If so, where did you get the cabinet for the TV lift? Where did you get the TV lift?

RVGUARD RV Water Pressure Regulator Valve, Brass Lead-Free Adjustable Water Pressure Reducer with Gauge and Inlet Screen Filter for RV Camper Travel Trailer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083HSQMHX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_glt_i_BP45THX3V7EWKXB04Z0Y?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

This is the one you want.   It is adjustable, and I haven't had mine restrict the flow.  I would never hook up without it.  The Camping World regulators that I've seen and one that I owned previously, are non-adjustable, and they are restrictive by nature. (And basically junk).

As you say, the PEX is pretty stout, but joints and connectors are the weak link in the chain.   Water everywhere is not in my list of desirable events in an RV.  We had that fun in the house once, and 30 minutes and 1000 gallons made a huge mess of two floors and six rooms.  I don't even want to think about what it might be like to renovate a water damaged RV... shudder.

Not sure of the brand I have, but it is similar and I got mine from Amazon, too.  Always use it.

    Series 38 direct replacement
By Soutthpaw on April 25, 2021Plug and play direct replacement for a Series 38 single step on 2001 Monaco Diplomat. Same wiring and plugs asking with mounting holes. The to step sits back a couple inches from the old one. You would just need to drill 4 new holes to bring it further out if needed. There is room to do so on the mounting frame on my coach. Keeping old step for spare parts

OK....  Having said that....you probably should call Lippert and talk to Customer Service. They are pretty good.  If you have your original manual, then look at that. I am attaching the two files that I have in my documents. When I asked them about this MANY YEARS AGO (prior to Lippert buying Kwikee....they were UNSURE.  Other than that....that is all I can offer.  I DO understand your issues.  But, I bought a small folding step in 2009 and it have worked well and we have had no issues.  IF your step frame or such is warped, then it is a Cost versus Repair decision. I fixed mine or CW did for around $300....which was almost half the price of this step. If I have issues in the future, it will be a NEW step....DANG THE COST....DW would like it better.

    Hope this helps

I polished mine in place several times. It doesn't seem to last long. According to the YouTube videos you need to spray it with a clear coat if you want it to last. I plan to replace the whole thing this time around.

From what I understand, you need to make sure the clear coat also protects from UV or it will still yellow and fade.

On my 2001 Diplomat the step switch is used to stop the step (usually when extended) from retracting and extending every time the door is opened or closed.

I have my coach in the shop for another reason.  I tried the button with the worn red surface.  It is made differently from the photo.  I had the door open with the exterior step extended and tried the switch...nothing, the step still retracted when I closed the door.  I tried the switch in the other direction and still, nothing happened and the step retracted when I closed the door.  Since my stepwell bulbs are missing, I think the switch might be to turn them on as you are entering the coach.
