We found a 4000 watt inverter/charger and installed it in the bay.

I feel your pain on that one. I was using our 2000 Diplomat to move across country and we broke down in Gallup NM. And the shop broke it off in my pocket.I bought the pump for 6400. With core charges and sent it to him and he said 2500 for installation. It ended up being 5700. He claimed he had 33 hrs in it .sad to say I had to pay it.

Engine serial number Help !!!!!
Simplysmn replied to Simplysmn's topic in Engine, Transmission, Engine Cooling, & Hydraulics
Ok just a update. I found the pump with core it's going to be 4600.00 that is with a 1600.00 core charge. But it's going to take 10 days to get it. So with his 2500 dollar install fee it's not going to be that bad. Just wanted to say thank you for the replies and information. I found it through a buddy who works for a mobile mechanic company. I will update you once I pick it up and get it back to Tennessee. -

Engine serial number Help !!!!!
Simplysmn replied to Simplysmn's topic in Engine, Transmission, Engine Cooling, & Hydraulics
My problem is I am in Tennessee and the coach is in New Mexico. At a repair shop. I did some calling around yesterday and found out the pump number. So I have that now. I am going to do some calling today to see if I can locate the pump. Good thing is I have done enough work on the coach that I know for a fact it's a 8.3 and after digging around enough yesterday I found the shop that was contacted to get the quote .I have the pump information now. -

Retirement & RV Repair options - Your opinion please
Simplysmn replied to Bruce Hull's topic in General Motorhome Discussion
I would say don't sweat it and Enjoy your Retirement. Tomorrow is never promised for any of us. Unless he is looking for something to do. Then and if his Health doesn't get in the way. And it's something that he enjoys doing. -
Sounds like the fool we ran into in Indiana. Calls himself a mechanic but had never seen a diesel pusher motorhome before. And tried to charge me a Grand to change my Alternator. And I bought the parts. What he did was see the Motorhome and he saw Dollar signs. Unfortunately there are some Shady people out there. But remember that Karma will work wonders on them. I feel your pain. I am a mechanic but I am in a wheelchair and can't do everything I use to do.

Fuel Economy Decrease
Simplysmn replied to bandmmorris's topic in Engine, Transmission, Engine Cooling, & Hydraulics
Black smoke tells me you still have a boost leak somewhere in the system. I would do a pressure test n see what you find. Atleast that is what we do on a dodge truck. I play with the first gen trucks alot. -
WARNING!! I40 IS A DANGEROUS ROAD
Simplysmn replied to wmh4805's topic in General Motorhome Discussion
I40 has always been bad the Arizona portion of the road Stinks. We took the 40 in 21 n it was Hell ! And we are based out of Southern California. -
How do you like it? We just ordered a 2023 Newmar and I know Cummins pretty well but have never had any experience with the newer engines. We got the 450hp version of the 8.9 and a 6 sp Trans. Thank you for the reply Val

Pre check is everything you would do for A gas Coach but then add oil,and radiator level. If your in cold climate you might have to turn the key on and wait for the wait to start light to go out. Then it will fire off. You also have to let it idle long enough to get the air system to operating pressure. Other then that you will enjoy it Better than a gas Coach. Because you don't have the engine noise right next to you. Best bet is drive it around to get use to it. Happy Travels! Also what engine do you have?

V band clamp
Simplysmn replied to Rikadoo's topic in Engine, Transmission, Engine Cooling, & Hydraulics
Is that the clamp right off the turbo? And exhaust brake? I fought the same thing on our 2000 had to go to the company to get it and they are out of Canada. We have a 8.3 with a hx40 turbo. -

How NOT to buy a USED Motor Home - my story
Simplysmn replied to RorySamuels's topic in General Motorhome Discussion
Don't feel bad. We bought a 2000 monoco diplomat 38d in 2020 did more maintenance than you could imagine new exhaust manifold, water pump, all hoses, new transmission lines, had 26,000 miles on it. Did a quick trip to Arizona coach ran great. June of 21 we were going to make a trip to the East Coast. Left Southern California made it to 35 miles East of Flagstaff Arizona. Pulled onto the off ramp .went to take off from the stop sign and lost all forward gears. Ended up getting towed back to Flagstaff and 3.5 weeks later and $10,875.00 we had a new transmission Ended up we had lost the C3 clutches in the transmission. We continued on our trip and had a great time. But things Happen.
