hbr509 Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 (edited) I need some help 2007 Dynasty a/c compressor keeps blowing 5 amp fuse , I replaced the relay still wont work , I put in another fuse and it may last an hour and sometimes 10 minutes . Any ideas . I also had a ac guy hook up power probe to the wire to compressor and it was 12 volts .and let the engine run and 1 time it spiked to 18 volts for a second then went back to 12 volts . Thats when I changed the relay . Edited May 15, 2022 by hbr509
Jim Byrd Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 You need to put an amp meter in the circuit to determine how much current the clutch coil is drawing. The maybe a partial short in coil.
welleking Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 sounds like you are using the wrong size fuse. the 18 v is the cycling of the coil and is expected... the coil should be a 15 or 20 amp fuse and the relay coil would be 5 amps.
