The latch from Amazon that was posted will not work. I ordered one from that link. It came complete with the a rectangular latch bolt
Totally different. Locksmith says the Monaco latch is shlagge. My latch is intact but a little loose. If I can fab some sort of bushing for the door everything will work. I have a bunch of plastic barb fittings that I can sacrifice. I am also going to make some holes in the screen door clear plastic. If the lock fails I would be able to open up the door panel.

The major truck dealers sell those batteries as loss leaders. Sometimes they are on sale.

Group 31 are available everywhere. Used in almost every Class 8 truck on the road.

Somewhere, maybe FB,O saw poly brackets that hold the panels. They laid some sort of thick sealant/glue and embedded the brackets. Made for this application.

Sometimes I forget I live in Canada where many items are unavailable. The Kwikset latch is not available on Amazon. Home depot did not have the bushings. Nor did 2 electronic parts online stores have anything. But Amazon USA is shipping me the Kwikset part. When I am in Tucson I can usually find all the goodies or get them in1 day from Amazon.

Great write up. Monaco must have used different suppliers. The bolt on my oem lock has a pin at one end. This inserts into the latch. The latch has 2 holes for that pin. I opened up the end of the latch, inserted the bolt and used a vicegrip to close the latch around the pin. I will post some photos. The Kwikset that was posted seems to be correct. No need grind anything. But your Shlagge redo is better engineered. We're you able to get a bushing for the end of the door to accept the bolt?

Yes,In retrospect that price would have been ok. The round bolt extension has a pin at one end. The latch has 2 small holes. You insert the bolt and twist it into the latch.I don't think the kwikset part has those holes but it could be modified. I actually thought it was a Shlagge. I will buy one and give it a try. Thanks

Bob. My problem is with the deadbolt. An entrance lever lock uses a spring loaded bolt
Not the same
I went to that website and did not find anything
However I am going to visit a few of the warehouses that supply commercial locks. Might find something. Thanks

I am very frustrated. Yes it is obsolete. You can buy a deadbolt latch with a 5 inch backset but this one is over 6 inches. The bolt on the Monaco latch is removable and I think I can tighten it up. When I could not open the door that bolt extension was loose and fell out. Hard to believe that someone does not make that part or a workaround.

Thanks Barry but I do not think that is the correct animal. Has a super long bolt

We spent the night at a rest area in Colorado. In the am I tried to open the door and nothing happened. When my Dynasty as in my shop I had removed the inner door panles and checked that the latches were timed correctly. All was good so I lubricated everything with white grease. Worked great. But here I was locked inside. My old body could not get out the emergency window. Another RV'r came over to help but without making a hole in the inner door panel one cannot access the bowels of the door. Finally I called an RV shop. He had a tech that lived next to the rest area in a KOA. We still could not open the door. He finally realized that the problem was the dead bolt. With a bent putty knife we got it open. The dead bolt had split. I taped up the openings and we made it back to Canada. I tried the paryts list but found nothing. Did some googling and found this:
Deadbolt Lock for use on entry door I 08408788 I 10116265 (findmyrvparts.com)
This is an exact duplicate of the oem lock. But $62.00 for Chinese junk is outrageous. Any ideas? It is a weird lock. Thanks

Although the TSD card can save you money there are some problems. If you preplan your routes and fuel stops the night before be aware that prices may change overnight. I do not know when TSD changes the prices in the app. Twice I have been gouged by Loves. Ended up paying more than the pump price as a particular Loves was no longer on the list. TA appears to be more stable. I do like that Maverick has been added to the available list.It is a shame that Flying J is a no go. This is due to Good Sam complaining. The Oracle of Omaha should pick his associates carefully.

TSD has improved. More Loves listed and Maverick. There used to be many areas in the SW where TSD had no locations. I refuse to use any card that requires me to go inside and stand in line.
-
TSD gives you locations where 18 wheelers fuel. Access should never be a problem. You are also getting fresh fuel. The pumps will notstop after any predetermined amount. The pumps are also fast. In most cases the locations are close to the highway.

DR.4 film posted a picture of the latch. You need to rout out the door. It mounts at the bottom. Sorry. I have a picture but did not know how to add it. DR.4film's pic is nice and large.

Jack James. How did you run a wire from driver's area to the rear. I needed to run a wire from under the dash to the lower outside of the firewall. Could not find any existing boots. There is a removable upholstered panel at the bottom of the lh area that houses shifter and switches
Nothing. I ended up poking a hole in the boot for the steering column. It was temporary so no big deal

On out 08 Diamond 4 there are 2 pocket doors. One at the entrance to the bedroom and one between the walk thru bath and the living area. Each door has on "bolt" at the bottom. There are holes in the floor.

Thanks to Frank and Tom I have partially solved my problem. That J2 connector was the problem. I. Pin5. I just sprayed it with electronic cleaner and the radio is on. But the back up/Alladin monitor is dead. I installed the Voyager replacement for the Sony monitor last February. . I do not have time for further diagnoses . May notes say to connect a white wire that used to be the Sony power to the red wire which is the Voyager power. It was connected. . I removed the solder joint and temporarily reconnected. Immediately the radio is dead and the monitor still does not work. There is one fuse near the radio but I am not sure what it powers. I need to remove the monitor and and connect a fused 12volt to see if it comes on. I am suspecting either a connection problem or a dead monitor. We are leaving Mexico on Tuesday and I do not have time to work on this problem. That whole area is full of wires. I had to remove the radio and the HVAC panel to access that mess. I find it strange that Sony would use a white wire for 12 volt positive. It does have the odd red mark on the wire. I wonder if there is a monitor fuse from the old Sony monitor. The Dynasty has a small monitor in the bedroom and it still brings up the Alladin.
