Dennis N - 2005 Windsor

Hello All! We are located in Inverness, Fl. Looking for someone to repair our dash air. I don't have time to troubleshoot, but expect it is low on freon - compressor turns but does not engage. It's a 2005 Windsor, owned for 15 years with no service to the dash AC so I assume it is all original. Anyone have any experience with a good A/C repair shop for RV's in the central Florida / Inverness area? Thanks, Dennis - 2005 Windsor

Regarding the fan, the temperature sensor, and the switch; given how "creative" us RV owners are, the fan and sensor could have been factory installed as one of the previous posts stated, and then the owner added a switch either to supplement a temperature sensor or as a replacement if the sensor went bad. Personally I would see if there's power going to the sensor, and then use a jumper to bypass the sensor to see if it still turns the fan on. If so switch in the sensor are likely wired in parallel. If there's no power on the sensor, and the sensor likely went bad was replaced with a switch. Of course all of this is a wild guess based on what I would do as a "creative" RV owner!

I second - removed a TV relay fuse in the driver side electric bay.

I'm not sure under inflation would cause this. Under inflation would make the tires bulge at the bottom but why would they bulge at the top where the bolt is rubbing?

You state that you have installed three new batteries; can you confirm the cold cranking amp rating of each battery and just to be sure - these are 12 volt wired in parallel (positive to positive to positive to load)? Just want to make sure the basics are covered.

Regarding adjusting the TLW steering box to zero play, what is the best way to measure the play in the wheel? I know when you turn the wheel there could be movement all the way to the tires flexing... How do I test to see what portion of that is in the steering box? Can it be done with everything still connected or does things need to be disconnected to take the loads off? EDITED: Nevermind, I downloaded the adjustment procedure and it explains it. That is a great idea! Can I ask what camera you purchased? I have lots of uses but don't know where to start the research... Years ago I bought a USB connected camera but the focal length is not appropriate; only good for very close items.

I, like many have replaced a couple of fan motors and capacitors over the last few years. When our rear unit quit putting out cold air, (it was probably the valve that switches it from air conditioner to heat pump), we decided it was best just to replace the two 18-year-old units. The new 15 kbtu heat pumps are almost $2,000 a piece now. But the idea of being on a trip and an AC unit going out again convinced us the replacement cost was justified. Talin RV is doing the work for us right now. Talin indicated a aftermarket thermostat could void the warranty on the units, so a new 10 button dometic is also being installed. Although it's expensive, I decided it was best to replace it all, have someone else do the work, and know that it's all done right so that we can enjoy using the RV instead of working on it!

For those of you that have replaced the carpet with plank flooring, did you notice a difference in sound volume when you were driving down the road? Our carpet is getting bad and we are debating hard flooring or carpet. Thanks, Dennis - 2005 Windsor

Hello gjh2916, you stated the Blizzard NXT are much quieter than your old units - did you have Penguin II's? or ?? I cannot seam to find any information comparing the sound levels for the two. I would trade clearance height for lower sound levels, as sound is an important part of "comfort" to me.... Dennis N - 2005 Windsor.
