  1. Yeah, this hurts me in one way but works out in another. We just listed our RV on RVTrader, but I'm afraid we might not get what we want for it. I may have to drastically reduce the price, and your post here is much appreciated and timely because I am going to send this to my wife to discuss. Mine has significant upgrades, such as my HWH ActiveAir. On the other hand, two years ago we looked at a travel trailer, but walked on it due to price and what they offered us on trade. You are right, the used market is WAY down on travel trailers, and we were able to find a practically brand new exact TT model we wanted for HALF PRICE. So for now, yeah we must like camping because we own two RVs.
  2. Interesting, mine already had that switch. You can see it on the right edge of this picture. And yeah, we use it.
  3. I hope they have free or very inexpensive beta testing. I'm an IT engineer for a living and I can set up dual WANs, no problem. That way if it doesn't work, it won't affect me. If it's $100 a month for beta, i'm not going to be willing to pay two bills that high just to help them test.
  4. One thing I forgot to mention - if your dash is like mine, you are going to struggle to find a way to properly support the back of the radio, and the weight of the unit could possibly bounce around and potentially cause damage to the dash material. Mine is thin ABS plastic. This is another reason I went with the SoundStream, it does not have a CD player, and is very shallow and light. I used to install car stereos for a living and you can usually find a way to bend or contort some strap material and attach it to the back of the unit to hold it up once installed, but in my case there was simply no way to do this. I solved my need for CDs to going SiriusXM. :) If you install a portable like I did (Mine is the Onyx) you can move it from RV to house to car or whatever, so that it's not a wasted expense when you are not in the RV. I also have it set up so that I can easily move the output from the head unit to the overhead receiver when we are stationary.
  5. We are still on the fence on what to do. We also have a small travel trailer, and we can't decide whether to sell the coach or keep it and update it so that we have it later in life when we can really get out and explore the open road. As you said, new coaches are expensive, especially if you want one built with the quality of our Safari. For example, the cabinets in our Safari are all solid wood (maple in our case) and are very heavy. Our TT has really flimsy pressed wood and plastic melamine finishes - and that seems to be what most coaches are built like nowadays, that is unless you spend some serious cash. I'm having fun watching your work either way!
  6. You don't see on the main page where to put in your zip code, country and email address?
  7. Here is a great - and current - video you can watch about Starlink. I live in a very rural area, so I've also signed up as a beta tester. I
  8. FYI, reception is great on my SoundStream, so yes it sounds like you have an antenna problem.
  9. I have those too. The motor will stick a little sometimes and I have to give it a little twist, but other than that they are great.
  10. Glad you asked Scotty, I was curious about those two items also.
  11. I looked up my order, I got mine in December 2016 and they were $35 for two from Amazon. In retrospect, that's not too bad given they are dimmable and they fit perfectly into the existing holes from the halogens.
  12. The drawer latch fasteners are a GREAT IDEA!! I used LEDs similar to those for replacing the halogens. The ones I used were quite expensive, but they are dimmable 12v which isn't too easy to find, or at least they weren't 3 years ago. Your solution looks pretty simple, as in I can do that. :) I don't have a picture of the driver's seat handy, but I attached one of my desk chair. All my seats look like this.
  13. This is great. I'd like to know more about those overhead replacements for the ugly florescent fixtures. Did you make those yourself? I'm surprised at the condition of the old UltraLeather. My coach has 109,000 miles and my seats are still like new. I have been very happy with them.
  14. We were full-timing at a park about 3 years ago, bad storms came through and lightning hit in or near the park. Two fifth-wheels got fried, I heard the cost was around $10k to repair which likely totaled the rigs. I'm not saying that these will stop a direct lightning strike from causing issues, but it is worthwhile to me to have it connected to prevent major issues from spikes or low voltage issues. I have also gone to a park and it detected the wiring was incorrectly wired to the post. The manager said they had someone working on that post recently and I was the first one to camp there. I ran my cord to the next post over and was fine.
  15. I also did a double DIN. I wanted a big screen and I wanted Apple Car Play for navigation. I paid $200 for this in April of last year. It works GREAT. Also, I use an Onyx satellite receiver that goes into that little holder on the right, and an Aux cable come out the back of it and goes into the back of the radio for my satellite music.
  16. Hey all, A few years ago I saw someone give Progressive a bad review in regards to their warranty service. Last week my PT50C started making a very loud noise, much like a chain saw. I contacted Progressive today, filled out a warranty claim form on their website, and within 2 minutes I received an email back stating they are sending me a brand new unit. I do not even have to send the old one back, they asked me to cut the cord off and recycle it. I don't know how much better warranty service can be. I just wanted to pass that along, thanks all and safe travels! Oh, and my unit is 3 years old by the way.
  17. Mine is under the cooktop. My coach has the subwoofer for the stereo under the fridge. I plan on keeping all the stuff in mine because we rent our RV out for lodging a lot, and I don't want a liability issue.
  18. Yeah, when I actually LOOKED at it and saw the codes right on the front, I saw that too. $52 at Amazon, it'll be here tomorrow. When it started, we were running really late and I had to set camp in the dark. I was so tired of hearing it beep I simply disconnected it and threw it to the side. Today when I was posting this, I saw the front and noticed it was telling me end of life. I kind of felt like a dummy but figured I'd leave the post up in case someone else had the same error. Thanks all and safe travels!
  19. Our coach before getting the Safari was a brand new 2013 Thor Four Winds 33' Super C on a Ford F550 chassis. It was terrible. The first 11 months of ownership, it was in the shop for 172 days. I eventually filed lemon law, got it all fixed up, and traded it in our Safari. The Ford part was just fine, but everything else (the house) was absolute garbage. On the Thor forums, I spoke with may other owners with similar issues, and once I was at the Ford dealership having my service done and there was another 33SW like ours there, and when I asked the dealership said "it is pretty much totaled due to water leaks ruining the under-dash wiring". So, you want to guess my thoughts about Thor? Why a Super C? We did a lot of towing. That's a big advantage to a Super C, they tow a LOT more weight than a regular C on an E550 chassis with the V10. Although front engine, those Ford 6.7 liter diesel engines are good, it was very quiet. My Safari is about to hit 110,000 miles, we have had it 4 years, and it's never had a single thing outside of maintenance items go wrong.
  20. Hello all, EDIT: OK dummy (me), read the directions. It says right on it that the symptom I have is "end of life" and it says to replace every 5 years. I'll leave this up in case anyone else has the same thing happen. When we took off in our RV last week, the first thing that happened was the Safe-T-Alert 40-442-P Propane Gas Detector started beeping. The light will flash two times red, then two times green, then when it starts two times red again it starts beeping. The LP tank is turned off, and just to be sure we opened all the windows and aired out the coach. I also drove it 30 minutes after this with all the A/C units running, and it still beeped. Since our coach is a 2005, and the date on this detector is October 2012, I'm guessing it is fairly common for these to go out and need replacing? Is that the case? If so, I'll just order a new one. Thanks! Rob and Amy Harper 2005 Safari Gazelle 40PBT
