  1. Ok, I learned about the salesman's switch the hard way, getting to know my Diplomat. Please tell me about this rear switch. I have not come across it. '01 Diplomat.
  2. John, You are correct, I asked for opinions and I got them. What I don't understand is your insistence that I have everything fixed before I take it in for inspection. I took it to an RV Service center. I expected service. I don't always have the time, strength, energy, tools or knowledge to make the necessary repairs beforehand.
  3. John, Once again, I expected they would repair it if it failed. If I take my car for inspection and it needs ball joints I have them fix it so it passes. My issue is not that it failed, it is that it failed before they started and they wasted my money with a unnecessary inspection.
  4. If they found a bad ball joint or bad brakes or anything like that I would have authorized them to repair it, one inspection-one bill. I asked them to repair the window and they wouldn't do it. I'm not complaining about the failure, the window had blocked my vision at times depending on temp, humidity, barometric pressure and sun angle. I was hoping to pass inspection and visit Suncoast Designers while in FL this winter. Yes, I knew it was foggy. Most of the time I could see through with no problem. Under certain conditions, mostly sun angle, vision was blocked. As I said above my hope was to get through inspection and have it repaired while in FL this winter. If it failed inspection I would have the inspection shop repair it. They wouldn't.
  5. Ok, so here's my story. I took my motorhome to Tom Scheaffer's RV in Fleetwood, PA for a state inspection. I was called and told it had failed because there was moisture between the panes of glass next to the driver's seat. Ok, I understand that as it has blocked my vision before. I asked them to fix it and was told no, they wouldn't. It was on me. As I picked it up and paid the bill I was told that the tech was bringing it into the shop and the sun hit the window and blocked his vision. State law in PA is that if the vehicle leaves the premises it must be inspected again. My problem is that knowing that it failed before it got into the shop for something that they wouldn't fix, they inspected it anyway. They knew I would have to take it off the lot for repair and pay for another inspection ($159). I feel that they should have given me a courtesy call when they saw the window and told me that they couldn't inspect it with that window. Do you think I was treated fairly? At this point I would like to mention the wonderful people at Suncoast Designers in Hudson, FL who were very professional, did a great job and turned my window around in 3 days. A late UPDATE: After additional discussion with the service manager at Tom Scheaffer's RV an equitable agreement has been achieved. Disagreements can always happen but it is how they are resolved that is really important. I am happy with the results of this issue
  6. Thanks for the replies. I watched both videos and am not prepared to go that far. Minor delamination under the window and extra, added sealant around the window frame tell me that it was leaking. The delamination was a small area and wasn't causing any problems. I just thought I might try something while I had access. Thinking more about it injecting epoxy probably won't do much to help the issue without replacing the luan. Thanks again for the discussion.
  7. 2001 Diplomat, I had to remove the driver's side window to send it out for defogging. While it is out I thought I'd try to do something about the bit of delam in that body panel. All I can really think to do is inject epoxy in there with a syringe. Does anyone have any better ideas or helpful hints?
  8. Thanks for the input, guys. I was wondering about those waterless cleaners. I was also looking at the 303 Protectant but will now reconsider. Tcbro 2001 Diplomat
  9. I have read in several places that the vinyl graphics on the coach should not be waxed but should be protected with a product designed for the job. I have searched on this forum and can not find any recommendations. What do you use to protect the graphics on your coach? Tom B 2001 Diplomat
  10. Paul, you are correct. I've been up there since my reply and I see that the same mounts are on the roof. Mine are covered in sealant, probably Dicor, and were somewhat camouflaged.
  11. Thanks, I'll check it out. Gary, mine is attached with pop rivets at the stand-offs but is somehow solidly attached to the roof at the handrails.
  12. Some of the ladder mounts on my Diplomat need to be replaced. Does anybody have a source for these?
  13. Well, it was definitely a good tip. Thanks
  14. I read a tip on here (I think), buy a male an a female plug and wire alligator clips to them. If you need to apply 12v to something far from your battery plug your newly wired plugs onto each end of your 50' extension cord. You now have a 50' test lead. I thought it was a great idea an plan on doing that soon.
  15. Here's a tip regarding air horns. When you settle in for the night put a "chip clip" on the switch so it won't go off when the cat steps on the switch at 5 am like mine did.
  16. I would think that the 30/30/50 Y adapter will work as intended. 50 amp service supplies 2 120v lines. They never connect to make a 240v line. Do a continuity check on the Y adapter (between each 30 amp and the 50 amp) and you will see that the 50 amp outlet has 2 separate 120v connectors.
  17. I've heard that they may. I've never seen one light up. I took the chrome ends off of mine and there are no lights under there.
