  1. I’ve been around the trucking industry since about 1980, seems to me I remember talking with someone back in the late 80’s or early 90’s that tried some Accuride wheels and had some issues, don’t remember all the details now, just remember that I always leaned towards Alcoa wheels on my trucks, I was surprised to see Accuride wheels on Monaco coaches when I started my research prior to our purchase.

Times change and so do products.

  2. We purchased our coach just over two years ago, the previous owner had installed new Michelin XZA 2 Energy’s 8000 miles before we bought it, I put probably 4000 miles on it and I didn’t like the ZXA’s on the steer axle, to me they felt kinda spongy or squirrely in regards to the sidewalls. In the spring of 22 I put X Coach Z’s on and I would not hesitate to put them on again, nice ride, very stable in regards to handling and they seem to wear well on our coach. They do have a bit more carrying capacity than the XZA’s, I’m sure that’s why they fell better on the steer axle, FYI, I’m still running the XZA 2’s on the drive and tag axle, they’re fine back there imo.

I spent 42 years driving commercial vehicles and just over twenty years running from Minnesota to California for myself, I don’t know everything but after a tad over 3 million mile's, I’ve gone thru a few tires. I only used Michelin on my own equipment, including my coach, I can’t speak for other brands. I’m sure others are good as well

If you don’t know, the X Coach Z’s are directional tires, after they are half worn out you can reverse the rotation.

I think you’ll be happy.  Jmo.

  3. Matt, fwiw, a couple of years ago I had a problem with my slide system and called HWH and spoke to a gentleman named Joe I believe, at any rate he informed me that the clear fluid they recommended was the same as ATF DEXRON III, it just doesn’t have the red coloring added, that’s what he told me, to my understanding it’s equivalent nowadays is all purpose ATF. One thing to consider when you find the root cause of your fluid shortage might be to consider using TranSynd 668 fluid, it’s the latest ATF recommended for your Alison transmission and can also be used in the hydraulic system that powers your power steering and cooling fan. That would just reduce the types of fluid you need to carry in your spare parts tote.  That’s my take on ATF fluids, Im guessing others will have differing opinions.

Good luck with your search for a leak, hopefully you don’t actually have one!

  4. In case you’re not aware, the pump and reservoir are under the storage compartment that’s under the flip up step in the entry steps, just remove the screws that hold that storage pan in and lift it out, that storage pan isn’t the best and age isn’t helping it so be cautious with it. Hopefully it’s a simple fix, today is going to be an educational day.

     Best of luck!

PS. You could check the fluid level in the reservoir if you remove the storage tray underneath the step before the tech arrives.

  5. Not to correct anyone but I was under the impression that you should disconnect the ecm on the engine and the transmission, I’m assuming that by disconnecting all of the batteries and turning off the master switches to house and chassis batteries that supersedes the actual disconnect on the ecm’s, is that correct?

I need to do a couple of small welding repairs also!

      Thanks!

  6. It’s a communication problem, accelerator pedal is likely bad, like was stated on FB, communication issues, if it worked correctly on the technicians Insite computer because it eliminated the accelerator pedal.
So take the coach for a ride, turn on the cruise control, at around 35ish if it’s displaying acceleration issues set the cruise and take your foot off the accelerator pedal and push the accelerate button on the steering wheel and see if it accelerates normally without blowing smoke, I had a similar issue on a truck of mine, didn’t blow any smoke though, I would try that. Jmo.
