Heading for Niagara Falls in Sept.  I believe Canada is shut off to cross, where is the best place to park for a few days?  Best viewing area?

Not sure if this is the correct place on the forum to ask this question.

thanks,

Hi Woody,

Can't remember where to camp. It was several years ago. Unfortunately the best viewing is from the Canadian side. However, you can get several spectacular views from: Walk behind the Falls. cross over to Goat Island where you'll be right on top of the edge of the American Falls, Maid of the Mist boat. Also, view the Falls at night from a park with gorgeous flowers. You'll never forget it, even if you never get to Canada.

Woody, and everyone, If it's a very cold winter and you are in the area, the Falls and the surrounding ice and frost are spectacular. The HUGE chunks of ice piled up in the canyon  on the shore opposite the Falls will blow your mind. And to see how big the Maid of the Mist boats really are (they are pulled up on the shore for winter). I believe they are tugs.

We went in February when portions of the Falls crest were partially  frozen over. I believe it was in 1898 it was completely frozen over and people walked across them. NOT ME! Enjoy.

Woody,   I can't says it's the best but we liked it, it was nice and centrally located.  We found this area of NY State to be a lot more open and friendly, I sort of wish the Bills had won.
