Smart wheel issues.

Recommended Posts

Hi Rusty,

I had the same issue with our 2000 Dynasty. I solved most of the issues by removing and cleaning the slip ring in the steering column. I also filed the 2 contacts for the slip ring. It's a lot better, but now and then the wipers turn on still.

Try the contacts where they plug into the smart wheel control box located in the bay on left front side. I had same problem with cruise shutting off. Sprayed some electrical contact cleaned and it works now

The same thing happened on my '02 Dynasty. I had to pull the wheel off. The clock spring had actually broken and was getting intermittent contacts. I was only moderately difficult to change. If you have to go that route pay close attention to the instructions for the proper time to release the newly mounted spring.

Good luck
