Guest Dive Dive
On my way home from the gathering I realized that I’ve got the following devices strewn around the driver seat: GPS, Tablet for blue fire, Toad brake controller, TPMS, as well as a few USB cables to charge phones. I’ve also need a 12v splitter to plug all this stuff in. There must be a way to integrate these systems. Lord help me if I have to take evasive actions. I’ll be tangled in wires. Any ideas on a more efficient way would be great.
Pepperell
I use a piece of 1x1x18 inch aluminum angle stock and a couple of small right angle brackets attached to the screws that hold the access cover on the dashboard ahead of the steering wheel. Drilled holes in the aluminum to secure RAM mounts and other mounts for TPMS, gps, fone etc. Every thing is easier to see than any of the regular gauges, and doesn’t get in the way of anything. Ivylog
I added a switched outlet at the left of the dash…keeps the mess in one area out of the way.
DavidL
My plan is to integrate the disparate electronics into one integrated user interface. Minimize driver distraction by only displaying what is relevant at the time, not all at once. The tasks to do so is multiple projects.
Ivylog
It would have been cheaper to use the Silverleaf VMSpc (monitor is a pc on the dash). I went with the more expensive ($950) VMS333 that plays through the existing Kenwood display. Here is my DIY install: https://www.irv2.com/forums/f115/installing-a-silverleaf-vms333-in-08-navigator-398067.html
