  1. No prevost or Newell...  max upgrade budget is 175k.

I realize MH’s are money pits.  I enjoy current coach mainly because of a lot less electronics..  part 2 of this is money for current coach is out of pocket vs loan for an upgrade.

just wondering what made others decide to trade up.

  2. Wondering how others made a decision since I’m on the teeter taughter....

how to decide to keep and pour money in current coach OR trade up?   What was your decision?

if you trade up today..... what year would you look at.

2003 Monaco dynasty 94,000 mi second or 3rd owner.  I would guess this beauty needs about $40,000 to make changes to equal today’s amenities.  This is not about “keeping up with the joneses”.

  3. I have a 2003 Monaco Dynasty.  It has an on demand Hot water faucet at the kitchen sink.  We never use this thing.... unfortunately I pushed the demand button and this water smells like...... let’s just say TERRIBLE!!!

anyone else experience this?  I’m ready to just remove it and toss it!  I can’t find any information on it (how to clean).

    Any advice???

    Thanks - Kurt

    Kurt,

It is next to impossible to just paint more clearcoat and have a decent job. First you have to get all the loose clearcoat off back to where the finish is stable. You then need to feather edge the old clearcoat and that is where the problem comes in. I have not been able to do that without sanding thru the basecoat of paint. In my opinion the best job will happen with a lot of sanding and then a coat of primer over the entire area including what is left of the old clearcoat. Then a new coat of the base color and then a new coat of clear. There needs to be a break where the rework can stop like a different color of paint or the roof itself. Here are some photos I took when repainting our rear cap.

Bob - I could tackle that part.  The few spots on the sides of the coach is a different story.  Thanks for sharing.

Ivan - i agree.... fix one spot then others show up.  I really like my coach just can’t quite get over the $25,000.00 paint quote.

  5. 2003 Monaco Dynasty.. what did you do to fix it??

Starting to get a few areas (softball size) of clear coat peeling off coach.  Top rear cap both sides have a few basketball size spots.  Coach has a few area of the glass checking issues but not terrible.

Can’t seem to find the person to just quote a full clear...  last quote to repaint.... well that’s not gonna happen.

    Thanks for ur time..

  6. All,

Thanks everyone.  Just had to roll up the sleeves.  Only location of reducer AND a check valve is at city water connection in wet bay.  I’ll replace those later & I’ll get an additional valve for the hose reel.

Again, I think everyone should get a water pressure gauge (Home Depot has one for under $10).

    Happy camping everyone.

  7. Dennis H...

jabsco tank... just haven’t gotten to it yet.

filrers - canisters are there but for psi test I removed them.

wet bay- has 1/4” ball valve for city or tank full.  Hose bib appears to have a reducer & a check valve inline.

hose reel does NOT flow through those parts & “T’s” off and goes to filter assembly.  I have a TDI shoremaster hose reel & am sure there is no valve on it.. Monaco installed a on/off valve after the reel...

camp pressure = 40 psi - i’ve removed hose regulator.... very little difference.

turning on any faucets or shower... initial psi is good then it quickly falls to a low psi stream.  I don’t know where I’ll hook up to test house pressure but I’ll figure out something...

  8. All,

I’ve read tons of threads and still need some help.  2003 Monaco Dynasty 42’ w/ hose reel for city water hookup.  This coachs’ water pressure is not good.  I’ve traced water lines and don’t see a reducer or check valve.  In wet bay, I have 1/4 turn Sioux Chief ball valve (tank fill) and a city water hookup brass fitting (I heard this is a reducer and/or a check valve)... no filters are in canisters. Hooking water to hose reel doesn’t flow through wet bay brass fittings.... I cannot see anything resembling a check valve in filter bay.

Is there a check valve in the aqua hot system?  This is my fifth year with this coach & it seems to have gotten worse.  One last note... the jabsco pressure bladder is busted so it don’t work properly...

    any ideas would be great.

    thanks,

    Kurt
