  1. Bill sorry I have not answered sooner. Was not able to log in last night. I’ll look at my prior Blue-Fire notes and get back to you. I assume your iPad cellular and equipped with GPS Pat
  2. Bill Glad it worked out. I really appreciate the accuracy and extra info I get from the ECM. Pat
  3. Bill, I have 2000 Diplomat with J1708 6 pin plug. My BlueFire reports both Selected and Current gears. Does not require any special wiring. I'd contact BlueFire before you make any wiring changes. An IRV2.com boards has helped me in past. Email address for BlueFire is sales@bluefire-llc.com https://www.irv2.com/forums/f53/bluefire-dashboard-community-share-427121.html Downloaded photos from yesterday of iPad mounted on dash and without iPad showing acrylic mount that is used to hold iPad. 4. Please take a look at BlueFire-LLC. It is used extensively by truck fleets and motorhomes. Software is free for you to experiment with layout. Software available at https://bluefire-llc.com/website/motorhomes. The MacBook version is still in developmental stage, but iOS, Android and Windows mobile versions are all active. Adapters for 6 pin J1708 and 9 pin J1708/J1939 are available thru publisher or Amazon. I made transition from Silverleaf to BlueFire so I could use an iPad. Our rig is 2000 Diplomat so I do not get the entire range of PID's that new engines get, but I am very happy with what I do get. My stock dash layout is very poorly thought out and the Tach and Speedo are hidden behind the spokes of steering wheel. With BlueFire on iPad I can see most gauges thru Steering wheel. There are several different adapters for OBD II conversion to the Deutsch plugs. https://bluefire-llc.com/website/connectors-and-cables My theory is only critical data is shown while driving so I have just basics on dash. Also run a 1/3 of screen as GPS using Apple or Google Maps. Now I am only looking at one device. Any other data can be retrieve and shown when I am stopped. My ECM does not provide brake or airbag pressure. That gauge is outside the iPad so I can see it. Images are of my current dash with GPS. Also stock dash and dash with iPad mounted. Mounted version for visualization purposes used clear tape. I now have an clear acrylic mount attached to dash using existing dash screw holes that iPad sits in. By having clear mount I can still see instruments if iPad is not mounted. BTW, I do not use rear view monitor any longer. Now have wireless camera and stand alone monitor. Happy to answer questions by email. Pat C Walnut Creek, CA 2000 Diplomat
  5. John, May I suggest your forget about existing dash and look into BlueFire LLC - https://bluefire-llc.com/website. This product uses a Deutsch connector in your case it would 9 pin J1939 version and connects by BlueTooth to an iPad or tablets using Android or Windows OS. I use an iPad on our 2000 Diplomat. Using the Deutsch connector you are connected directly to engine ECM and getting accurate readings for what ever gauges you wish to put on your tablet. Software for tablet is free and you can experiment with it before buying connector. Believe connector is $170-$180 depending on OS you are using. I ran Silverleaf for several years before finding BlueFire and am very happy with BlueFire. I'll be happy to discuss with anyone that would like to discuss by phone. Just send me a private email with phone and I'll call you. I am not a representative for BlueFire, just a real believer in the product.
  6. I had an issue of left turn signal blowing fuses almost immediately after installing new fuse. Found that the turn signal socket was so loose that it somehow increased the load on fuse and then fuse failed. I swapped out all rear light sockets with new and that solved the problem. Found right back light socket from factory was for for 1157 bulb. Might mention that when left turn signal failed then all the marker lights (front, side and rear) also went out. Socket replacement solved that issue also. While replacing sockets also replace housing and lenses for a newer look to our 2000 Diplomat.
  7. I have had to replace a rear ride height valve 4 times. Three of those were necessitated by the valve being an offshore copy of the OEM made by Hadley. One of the offshore manufactured valves actually fell apart internally within 150 miles. Becareful on source and manufacturer of the replacement valve.
  8. Update on fixing drivers side mirror on 2002 Sig. Using a long drill bit we tried to find the location where bolt would come thru the front cap and/or under dash. We never did see the end of drill bit. Thanks to suggestion we used bamboo skewers in all 4 mount holes and the mirror is now very secure. Thank you hanggiloren for the tip. Pat C
  9. Great comment about using bamboo skewers. Going to put some in my tool box. Thank you. Pat
  10. I'd like to thank all of you that responded to this issue. Think we'll try the nuts and bolts. That is if I can climb this 80 year old body under the dash.
  11. Dwight, yes I am referring to. the screws that hold mirror to front cap. We tried larger diameter screw and those did not hold. bopper, Interesting solution. Friend will have to get under dash and see what is there to support the washer and nuts. I like that solution if there is enough material on his coach to do so..
  12. My friend has a 2002 Sig that the driver side fastener at top of mirror have losses and will not retighten. I suggested he remove mirror and build up behind fiberglass shell with JBWeld or similar product. Any other ideas that resolve this issue? Pat Coleman 2000 Diplomat 2014 Honda CRV
  13. Scotty, Chris sent an comment to Monacoers when I mention Cummins endorsement of Diesel Kleen several years ago. My personal experience and discussions with several diesel mechanics led me to continue to use DK on our coach. Appreciate that others have a different view and respect their right to that view. Our engine runs better on DK than without and I have faith in what Cummins recommends.
  14. thanks for tip on the tip on funnel you have used. I just purchased on Amazon. Should have Monday.
  15. Jim, I am not an expert on additives. Just have had good success with Diesel Kleen. I did Googled Pri D and see a price of $263.40 for 12 16 oz bottles to treat 256 gallons per bottle for $21.95 a bottle. I buy the DK bottle at Walmart for about $17.00. Amazon has 512 gallon treatment bottle for $45.68. Both places were out of stock on Pri D Camping World had 256 gallon treatment listed for $28.88 and was also out of stock. Could not find any evaluations or comparisons. Had good success with DK before Cummins recommended and it still does the job well for me. The reviews of Pri D seemed to praise it more for stabilization of the fuel. Our 2000 Diplomat has a vertical tank fill on passenger side. So I use a plastic funnel with flexible spout. Here is funnel I use - https://www.autozone.com/shop-and-garage-tools/funnel/flotool-flex-funnel-2-piece/52357_0_0. After use I wipe out and bend up funnel to store. I have asked DK producer Power Serve several times to make a filler that attaches to their bottle neck. They have never responded.
  16. David, I have had fuel checked a couple of times by weighted hose put to bottom of tank and have not had any signs of moisture or algae. Fuel is examined by a licensed firm for diesel liquids testing. I changed oil and fuel filters every 5,000 miles or 12 months. Done by a local mechanic for last 6 years. Only Cummins filters and Valvoline Premium Blue HD oil. Coach has 106,000 miles on it. Starts and runs very smoothly. I attribute much of that to the Diesel Kleen. Hate the smell, love the product. Have a local mobile mechanic swapping out tail/stop/turn and side lights for newer taillight assemblies. Attached is photo of how we are doing so this. Could not replace original amber lens. Assemblies were off late 80's early 90's Chevy K5 Blazer and/or Suburban. Think it looks pretty good and is certainly brighter. Did headlights last year. Both tail and head lights now have LED bulbs.
  17. Steve, Thank you for the tip. Being stored indoors and in California moistures has not been an issue for me. Most of the time I arrive at storage with about 25 gallons. Storage has a company that comes out and delivers diesel #2 to our coaches if we have at least 4 coaches needing fuel. Fuel company provides diesel to fleets of buses so I am comfortable it is fresh. Our ISC typically gets 8.25-8.5 mpg so I am happy with that given the lower hp and toque of ISC.
  18. Our engine is 2000 Cummins ISC 315. I started using Diesel Kleen when I got some bad diesel in AK several years ago. Stopped using for a few months and then picked up a load of 20% bio at a Flying J and engine ran so bad I stopped and put Diesel Kleen in tank. Took about 15 miles but engine smoothed out and I have used DK with every tank since. That incident was 8 years ago. BTW, IMHO you should avoid Bio Diesel whenever you can. Your engine and mine I was told in a Cummins seminar was not made to run Bio. In California all Diesel by law must have 4.75% Bio, but there are many stations that carry Diesel #2 instead of Bio Diesel. To my knowledge all Flying J and Pilot are now only BioDiesel and that can be up to 20% Bio. Pat C
  19. Our 2000 Diplomat had carpeting in front and tile in kitchen bath area. Shop in OR took out a swath of tile wide enough to run Skil saw set at correct depth down the swath. Tiles were mounted on second piece of particle board and once split they were fairly easy for him to remove. The Living Room slide had to be raise to allow that piece to pull out from under kitchen counter. Toilet had to be removed to lift that section out. By removing tile and particle board he then had one level of decking to install the vinyl planking. Couple of pictures attached to show tile/particle. board and finished floor. Company is Kustom Coach Works - Junction City OR. Owner is Bobby Vodden. Pat 2000 Diplomat 36DS 2014 Honda CRV

Dave, I used the FMCA program for Hankook. Upgraded size from 2.55 to 2.75. Very happy with Hankook tires that replace Michelin. Worth shopping around. You did not mention where you are located. I purchased my Hankook tires from Pete's Tire in SoCAl. Pat
  21. Larry, our 2000 Dip has a GFI in bathroom under the mirror, under dinette table and on passenger side of bed.
  22. Recently replaced all marker lights with Bargman #59 LED lights. Total of 12 lights. Yesterday the 20 Amp fuse for the markers blew. My research says the LED bulbs are about 10-15% lower voltage than the older incandescents. Other than wiring issues that I still need to explore any thoughts on why fuse would fail?
