  1. The “other small electrical device” pictured in the original post is a PTCR, positive temperature coefficient resistor. Its purpose is to very briefly (only a couple seconds) connect the compressor starting capacitor in parallel with the running capacitor. The PTCR will have a very small resistance before the A/C compressor is energized, but the resistance increases dramatically after only a second or two, effectively removing the compressor starting capacitor from the circuit. Since you installed it from a working A/C I wouldn’t expect it to be a cause of your issue.
  2. Bob, the Michelin right steer axle tire was so badly worn on the outer edge, I went ahead and immediately (3/3022) replaced both steer axle tires as noted in my original post. I was not able to get an appointment at the Spartan factory until late May 2022, and had not saved the bad Michelin tire, so Spartan never saw the worn tire, only the photos I had taken for them. In any case the worn Michelin tire already had >60k miles and 5 years of service. Spartan did document and provided me with the alignment measurements both before and after they made the adjustments. We discussed the before/after measurements and all Spartan could say was that the miss-alignment was fairly minor, and would not have expected that miss-alignment to have caused the tire wear experienced. Google “rivering”, seems to mostly appear on free rolling lightly loaded tires. Steer axle tires free roll, but in my case I have about 8500 lbs load on that tire (22.5x315 - rated 9090 lbs at rated pressure 130 psi, which is what I maintain on the steer axle). So the mystery continues.

Early this year on my 2008 Newmar Essex I discovered exactly the same extreme wear on the outer edge of the right steer axle tire as the OP described, AND with the same model XZA2 22.5x315 tires with a 2017 birthdate with about 60k miles on the tires by 2/2022. The left front tire had no signs of any abnormal wear. The front axle has a little over 17k lbs load fairly evenly distributed on both sides. Also in 3/2022 I could not locate any new Michelin tires in my area but did end up with 2 new Yokohama’s. I also contacted the MH chassis manufacturer, Spartan, in Charlotte, Michigan. They examined the photos I send and they first diagnosed the issue as “rivering”. Since it looked to me more like an alignment issue, probably camber, I took the MH up to Spartan in May and the factory did a full chassis inspection and alignment. No worn chassis parts and only very minor alignment adjustments were needed. To date I now have >12k miles on the Yokohama tires with absolutely no abnormal wear signs.
  4. Not Richard, but I personally have discussed using the PP legacy repeater with Pressure Pro in phone calls in August, 2021, and again two weeks ago. Pressure Pro is adamant that using the "legacy" Pressure Pro repeater with the newer Pulse sensors will NOT work with the new Pressure Pro Pulse system. I would think that if the legacy repeater would work, Pressure Pro would not pass up sales opportunities by telling potential customers otherwise, particularly when they do not yet have a Pulse sensor repeater available to sell. Now, to be clear, given Pressure Pro's response regarding the repeater, I have taken their word for it, and have not invested in a PP Pulse system, so am not able to confirm or deny if what they have advised is correct.

Jim, thanks for your response, but would be happy to privately share a copy of my AT&T cell call logs from last early September, 2021, but I did call TST facilities as I was desperate for the best help I could get. Sorry, can’t recall the name of the person or persons I talked to, just to long ago. My Newmar Essex battery compartment is almost completely open except for the roll out trays my LiFePO4 batteries sit on. I am a degreed EE, hold some FCC Licenses and am a ham radio licensee KE2UF for more than 30 years. At this time I continue to nurse my old legacy Pressure Pro TPMS, not so patiently waiting for PP to finish development of a repeater for their Pulse system. Their current solution is to route 50 ft of coax from the dash to a location on the underside of the coach behind the tag axle. Nice if your building a new Foretravel coach, but would take many hours trying this on my completely built 2008 Newmar Essex. If TST is interested in finding a resolution to my experience, I would be more than willing to reinstall exactly to your direction the TST507 system that you send to me initially at TST expense, I will provide full install photos to you, my time to my account, and if we can successfully get it to work properly, I would immediately forward full retail payment to you. If unsuccessful, I would immediately return the complete system to you, return cost to my account.

I hate to add to this thread, but since Dr4Film found that the new Pressure Pro Pulse does have sufficient range to cover a connected Toad, let alone a tag without additional measures, I decided to jump in. I have used the legacy Pressure Pro system now for more than 12 years, and am nearing end of battery life on my second set of legacy sensors. Last fall I purchased a TST507 system (12 sensors) with their repeater. Worked great in the driveway, but the first time out on the highway it started dropping sensors. I had the repeater initially mounted in the wet bay, just in front of the drive axle, drivers side. I pulled into a rest are off I-26, contacted TST, and they suggested I try moving the repeater to the battery compartment, which is behind the tag on the passenger side. Did that. No help, then called TST again at the next rest area on I-40. Called TST and they suggested I try moving the display as far away from the drivers dash area as possible as there could be some electronic interference near the driver side dash. I relocated the display to the far right hand side of the dash. Back on the road, no improvement. Called TST again, they didn't know what else to do. That evening I decided I couldn't risk another day on the road with a TPMS that wasn't reliable. I reinstalled my legacy Pressure Pro system, and since I had purchased the TST507 from Amazon (Techno_RV), that next morning I stopped at the nearest post office and it went back to Amazon, and I did immediately receive a full refund. I was then about to purchase the new Pressure Pro Pulse system, but called and asked some hard questions. PP immediately advised that they would NOT advise that I try to use the Pulse system without using the extended coax/dipole antenna, installing it under the coach behind the tag axle. I asked about using the legacy PP repeater that I already had installed, and they advised that the Pulse TPMS, though it used the same frequency, the Pulse encoding would not properly repeat with the legacy repeater, and at that time (December, 2021) they did NOT have a repeater available for sale. They did advise that they were working on a new repeater design, and hoped to have it available first quarter, 2022. I checked back with PP this past week, and they advised that they now have in hand the first production repeaters, but are extensively testing them before releasing them for sale, assuming no issues are uncovered during the testing. So I continue to wait, extremely hesitant to purchase 12 replacement legacy PP sensors.

  8. A follow up for ncjimgr….. Is the TST monitor battery user replaceable?, and if I always leave it plugged in, will the monitor continue to function after the battery useful life has been exhausted? My Garmin GPS has an internal battery, but we always leave it plugged in while traveling, it senses loss of external power and automatically shuts itself off, but does give the user a brief option to leave it on sans external power….and battery continues to function (power GPS for a few hours after external power is removed) after 6 or 7 years of use like this. I really want to like the TST system, if it weren’t for this “maintenance” issue.
  9. To ncjimgr……. Am getting ready to either replace our Pressure Pro system, or buy 12 new Pressure Pro sensors. I looked at TST a few years ago, and even called the factory with a few questions. I was told that the monitors had an internal battery, AND that I should NOT leave the monitor plugged into the 12v source other than to charge the internal battery. The person I talked to advised that I would damage and dramatically shorten the monitor life if I left the monitor plugged in. That would leave me with another unwanted task of assuring the TST monitor was charged each trip. I find this hard to believe, but if that is correct, then that is what it is, and I’ll continue my search or just continue buying new PP sensors every 5-6 years. Can you confirm or refute the information I previously was advised by TST?
  10. I just received a transfer switch that I purchased through a marine supply distributor. I thought I was purchasing a ESCO LP50BRD, but received one with the front decal indicating it was a LYGHT Power Systems Transfer switch. Inside the front cover, it says "manufactured b Elkhart Supply Corporation". See the two attached photos. My curiosity got the best of me and I called Elkhart Supply Corporation. The gentleman that answered the phone acknowledged he knew LYGHT Power Systems, but was evasive when I pressed him for more information. I asked if I could purchase the LP50BRD directly from him and he answered "yes", but that his production was sold out well into April. I asked him if the LYGHT LP50BRD used exactly the same components as I would get if I purchased the transfer switch directly from him, and he again answered "yes". So my curiosity remains unsatisfied. Since the ESCO LP50BRD is the transfer switch that seems to be strongly favored by most members of this group, I wonder if anyone can shed any light on LYGHT Power Systems (no pun intended)?
  11. I’m due an oil change and chassis lube, and have been using Speeco for the last several years. However there is also a TA Fuel/service center very close to the Speedco. Has anyone used TA for this kind of routine service, and how did it compare to the same service at Speedco?

  13. I apologize, apparently I was incorrect in thinking you were asking for options to consider. My sole purpose in initially responding was to provide options that some may not have been aware of. I’m out, you’ll have to find someone else to argue with.
  14. There is no need to change the LNBF as you move around the county. The RF Mogul is capable of acquiring the EA or WA satellites from Maine to Washington States. Just select the group of Sats you prefer EA or WA, install the correct LNBF and software, and then motorhome happily around the country. We probably travel around the country as much or more than many (avg 25k miles/year for the last decade).
  15. RF Mogul’s Eagle “open face” roof mounted automatic dish will work with Dish EA or WA Sats using either the old DPP or DPH LNBF’s as well as DirecTV and Shaw. I’ve been using the Dish Network EA DPH setup on the Eagle now for a year. Want to change providers or Dish Network Sats simply change the LNBF and download the appropriate software from RF Mogul (no charge) to a thumb drive, plug the thumb drive into the USB port on the face of the indoor controller, restart the controller, and the change is complete.
