  1. So my need to stay on topic, I did take the Dip out to the Mech.

I kept it at 65/70 on the hwy, and found some solid bumps,

Now first impressions are subjective, but I found while the dip did rebound after a bump, the height was about half, and then no subsequent bouncing. (Porpoising)

I’ll be able to get more than an hour of driving here in a week or so headed down 395

Also noticed that Source sells these air restrictors as well

    To all Our Monaco Friends and Family, Food For Thought;

When the Civility on the Forum seems to get a bit out of control I believe it would be a good time for all of us to step back and take a deep breath.
In the case of someone posting a Discussion about a certain subject, a Problem they are having with their coach, or even a Maintenance or Repair Issue, whether it be tires, batteries, engine and transmission etc. when posted on this FORUM it will bring about a lot of various discussions based on the Manufacturers Recommendations, owners preferences, owners experiences and Maintenance Repair Shops recommendations.
It is not to say that all methods are the right or wrong way of doing any particular maintenance or repairs. What is important is that at least the
information is correct, the minimum maintenance/repair or some maintenance repair is being done and the owner is comfortable with the outcome.
Let's face it, it is definitely a one size does not fit all scenario, but basically, what works for the individual.

Some of the most annoying frustrations are; 1. A member who posts a problem or question without a NAME, YEAR, MAKE and MODEL of COACH. 2. Not using the "SEARCH" function to research the issue to find out if has already been addressed before posting the issue on the Forum. 3. It is very obvious from a majority of post about issues a member is having can be answered by just reading the "OWNERS MANUAL" that comes with the coach along with the Operator Manuals for the different components that are installed in the coach. I appreciate those Members that Monitor the Forum and will ask a member to include this information when they forget to add it to their post. The request should always be done respectfully and courteously. Always Play Nice!!!!

The Only Stupid Question is the one that is not asked!
I read every post to this forum and everyday learn something new, something better and some things that help me improve the way I already do things.
Everyone is entitled to their ideas and opinions and they should be heard. I believe that most members of this forum have the good common sense to know what is right/wrong and reasonable and not Cannon Fodder.
We all should refrain from making or taking it Personnel.
I cannot see where taking someone to the carpet because their way of obtaining a certain result doesn't fit ours to prove a point. If they are misinformed, then inform and educate them, not criticize them and in so doing we educate ourselves and others,
I will usually only post to those things that I know and am familiar with and either I use facts that are true and founded or from my own personnel experiences. Hopefully it will help someone with a similar problem or help in a future situation.

As Scotty posted earlier, the moderators and admins have a handle on it. We give posters great latitude to express what they need to, so long as it’s somewhat RV related and is not out of bounds and deal with the issue off the Forum.
When it comes to any problem, maintenance or repairs, I have found that is always best to start with what the Manufacturer Recommends, followed up very carefully by what the maintenance/repair facility recommends based on the manufacturer's recommendations. DIY is the least expensive and sometimes the most practical, especially when it is based on the Manufacturers Recommendations.
The Manufacturers Recommendations should always be considered the Minimum that should be done to get the best performance and longevity out of any product.

When it comes to Maintenance and Safety there is one very basic "TRUISM" and that is "You can pay Now or pay Later" and the latter of that statement is usually the most expensive.

The Monacoers Group and this FORUM is the best way to share ideas, offer and obtain help. The Monacoers Forum is a valuable Gateway to a lot of Knowledge from the minds of some very intelligent, remarkable experienced people that are Members of the Monacoers Group. The Monacoers Group has over 3000 Active members and is continually growing. Everyone of our members are a valuable asset to this group and forum.

Enjoy it and Benefit from it, I know I do. If that does not work for you, there is always the Delete Key!

    Thanks for a reasonable answer.

  3. A few here know I’ve had a leak in my Capps 2 pump. I’ve taken off the top and re-sealed what I could reach. It still leaked.

Pouring thread for hours led me to the distributor. There is a weep hole, that leaks and let you know to replace it. The Capps pump is broken down into 3 sections, you can replace just 1 if you want, many though forgo and just buy a whole new pump. It might still have to do that.

But I think this is the fix. And to be honest, either way I’ve learned a ton about these pumps. I really don’t have the time so it’s headed to a diesel mech tomorrow. Nice kid whose dad has taught him the ins and outs. He works on just about any heavy truck engine.

Here are some pics of the distributor, I’ll update if this fix works or not

  4. So there were just a bunch of engines or chassis prebuilt just laying around? I guess that makes sense only build what is needed,  but don’t want to wait for parts.

James over on his channel just ran into a coach that was an original Monaco, but had a Navistar VIN. I believe it was a 2010 Diplomat

OK….other than a VIN search….which REV may have….or NOT…as to the engine.  In CUMMINS, yes…an 08, without a big old honking DPF hanging down….odds are a special build or one that got caught still “IN ASSEMBLY” when the OFFICIAL MY CHANGE OVER guy came out…like a New Years Eve Baby at midnight.

Do some homework.  Pull the sales brochures….an UPPER end MIGHT have a bigger HP DD engine….so, don’t ask if the DD’s had a hang down bulge.  But….the rest of the flock has the Descending “testicle” DPF.  I really don’t know what was used on the DD engines….but we have members that can chime in.

Personally….my criteria would be different.  I would worry MORE about the lighting and control systems and the chassis wiring…..NOW, don’t jump to a conclusion and say….ain’t gonna be a CCM.

The 05’s….Dynasty and higher….generally and there were some early conversions….had HARD WIRING.  In 2006…..BINGO….the Intellitec MPX for lighting and also several other switches….like slides and TV up/down were added.  They took a CPU.  Switches are next to impossible to find.  We have at least 2, maybe 3 Experts here….that can program and fix boards and some have switches.  M&M has not lived up to their former reputation and the shops that depend on them are now hitting more blank walls.  Also….there are many (more than 5) different MPX modules….  So, they interchange….but have DIP switches….so, find the exact Intellitec PN….fine.  Not out there….then you need an expert to help you restore 10 separate lighting circuits.

Next UP.  Pull the FRB and RRB on a 05 Dynasty….and 06.  Front 06 has a plethora of boards….all custom made for Monaco by Intellitec.  We have folks that can replace chips and reprogram….not, I believe, in M&M expertise.  HMMMM….I turned down a beautiful Dynasty.  Asking price was $50K above my Camelot….MSRP was $100 PLUS.  I personally ammglad.

I have a NICE HYBRID Intellitec MPX.  Lights and pump and fans…..only 3 of the simpler Modules….and NOT a CPU…. My FRB & RRB has only one Intellitec board.  NOW…the big FRB PCB could go.  Folks have rebuilt and cloned them (fire).  But….I understand how mine works.

MY OPINION.  Cummins can always fix a DPF.  But, you lose a bunch of the upper end custom (last count….20 or so), who’s gonna work on that and rewire and put in items….and what about the entire interior….a CPU for that Model year and maybe 6 or 7 different and more complex modules.

Just an aside….engines are nice…but loose the MPX or the FRB/RRB….part it out….

I help trouble shoot, up to a point, the MPX….never the boards….we have the experts…but I sleep better at night and enjoy mine knowing that a surge will not destroy electronics….and I have “resources”.

BUT….good thread….just a shade of reality lurking in the shadows…..

This is the next road I need to spend time with. I hear about the dreaded Kongsberg coaches, and the above James at AZ expert goes on and on about making sure there is a “green” board in the front electrical bay

I find myself biting my tongue here.  This appears to be a case of someone throwing a live grenade into a room and then sitting back to watch the reaction.  I'm going to ignore any additional responses to this thread as it certainly does not look to be going in any constructive direction from the get go.  JD I appreciate your posts and that you are happy.  Please keep it up!

Agree, been posting about lights and smooth rides. Coach headed to Mech tomorrow, I’ll create a thread on that

Some Beaver 34’ DPs had a large steel weight up front in addition to the generator. Don’t let her ride in a tag axle coach.
I made sure my 08 had a 06 engine as DPFilters started on 07 engines.

I’ve thought about this, adding weight to the front. Country Coach also weighted their fronts

How can you tell other than looking for DPF filters if an 08 coach as an older engine? This is new to me

I think the inversion is appropriate.

Now I have to go look up inversion, because it means something different to me.

Ok means what I thought, I didn’t change my position, so not sure how the word relates, but oh well, you seem happy so I’ll let it lie. I’m still happy.

  8. Anyone have a jeep with cooltech wiring? I put their wiring on my JK but their plug had the wrong prongs in it and my pigtail wouldn’t accept it. So I put a new plug in, and must be a wire off and of course they don’t have industry standard colors on their wiring

    thanks

I wouldn't recommend that route, could lead to major issues down the road, etc.  But then, I think mufflers are good idea too. 😉

Yes I wouldn’t touch newer stuff at all. Sounds like the DD15 was designed with emissions in mind. Many engines of  that era were not, the had emission parts scabbed on. These engines you are basically putting back to stock by putting them on a weight loss program.

My 6.7 Ford is perfectly fine with emissions. Ford drew this engine from the grouhd up. It had 2 cooling systems, serviceable oil coolers, reversed intake/exhaust for down tube replacement etc.

I had a 6.4 which was a grenade ready to explode,  but after its weight loss, it was insane.  I’ve never had anything come close to the raw power that truck had. Check out Rudy’s Diesel. Their Drag Truck used to have a 6.4

Bordoodle is a Border Collie Poodle cross. Not sure if a breed or accident. In the PNW there are a few breeders of them. Very smart, love people and other dogs, don't shed and great travelers.
