I have no experience with them however in reading their Q&A they require their fee up front prior to listing your coach.

I sold my Windsor using POP RV which takes a 10% commission on the sale price AFTER the sale. Plus they come and do everything for you. All you have to do is empty out the coach and make it presentable for photos, video and showing.

I see lots of Pops ads, but to be honest I always didn’t know if they were legit. Glad to know they are.

  2. Ok perfect,

IMO, you will want to run Stabil. I run clear gas (non ethanol) in my boat and still had to rebuild a carburetor in one the engines as the fuel varnished and solidified. I poured copious amounts of seafoam to try and clean the carb to no avail

Stabil is will helps with the issues you are worried about, and heat can amplify fuel issues with evaporation.

My routine is every 6 months now for all my gas engines that sit for any period of time.

  3. Good morn!

Very sorry for your husband’s accident. It’s commendable that you are keeping things on track and moving forward.

First, without me going and researching your model, you said generator, I assume it diesel, but you mentioned gas additive?

Second, where in the country do you live? Colder areas need different additives.

My current coach has the 500 hp cummins and I like it so much better.  I have it on cruise at 65 and it doesn't drop speed at all on long hills.  6.5 MPG.  The executives and signatures would have at least that engine and you see some that are 40 feet, but they are pretty rare.  One of the things I'm not a huge fan of is the basement doors under the slide.  I think in later years they made them side hinged instead of top hinged.  They are a  pain to get into when you are an old man.  My original plan was to stay at 40 or under, but there just were not many to choose from and of course they need to be in good condition, the right color scheme, etc.  I still watch the ads for that special, dream coach to come along, but I'm really loving this coach.  Such a nice drive with the tag axle and good sized engine.

The main reason for the tag is exactly what you said, stability. Have you had to make any adjustments or add on like watts etc?

How long have you had your coach? Any thing you’ve had to change or modify?

I don’t have many dislikes but one thing comes to mind immediately and that is the location of the one fuel filter on the ISL 400. I have posted about this a few times before being located right above the starter and a pain to change out without getting soaked with diesel fuel. One of the main and many positives that comes to mind is how well it drives on the road. My previous Motorhome was a Fleetwood Discovery non tag and it drove ok but when I drove this it was like night and day. The Dynasty is very stable, no rocking from side to side when turning and very little movement if any when being passed by 18 wheelers. It just feels solid on the road.

Thanks for your thoughts. You are solidifying my thoughts on a tag axle. Wife is on board with that fact. Off topic, where about in Georgia are you based? I’ve never been but my last few dogs have come from Vienna

As far as the ISL 400 and having enough power we just came back from a 5000 mile trip out west. It was the first time with this motorhome in some real mountains and it had plenty of power. We went west of Denver on I-70 through the Eisenhower tunnel and some other long step grades and she preformed well and the two stage engine brake worked fantastic as well. It’s a 42’ tag axle so it weighs more than a 40’ tag that you are looking for. I averaged 7.7 mpg for the entire trip and I was happy with that.

Thanks for your input. My knowledge is limited in I only have my 330hp to compare it to on the Coach world.

In trucking days, a 400 Cummins BC3 couldn’t keep up to a 425 Cat 3406. Not that it wasn’t a bad motor, torque was at a different RPM.

Talk more about your coach, likes/dislikes

  6. So siting here in the coast, dry camping. My dear wife seems to finally grasp why I like the MH way of camping/traveling. We have a great view of the harbor and bay, everything is contained in the Coach, and we are enjoying the space l, even in our tiny 34’ Coach.

Now we currently live in a massive 43’ 5vr while we sort out our business projects, and building a personal barndo style home in a year or so. The ability to just pack up and have everything is starting to appeal more, at least this week, LOL.

Anyway, I’ve always been very partial to Country Coach. She’s ok with that, but we grew up watching Beaver Coaches rolling out the factory and both had the “someday when we make it, we will get one”

Maybe that day is closer, IDK. I’m having some problems having her think about a Monaco or HR as she thinks that they are a bit plain (her words not mine)

We can both agree on a 40’ max length, and I’m dead set on a tag coach. CC has lots out there in this configuration, and we have seen some Beaver Marquis while looking.
The Beavers have lots of burl veneer that peels and the heavy lacquer always seem to be foggy from lack of proper humidity while in storage or to much time in the sun.

So couple questions, any other Monaco lines with 40’, tag axle?

And on those, what to expect? I’m here multiplex here and there, so what to avoid, what to look for ? I know I’ll stay away from Cat C13 after 2006 due to emissions issues.

And there are some cat transmissions? I’m going to look at that as well.

I’ve driven more than a few class 8 trucks in my life, but none with a series 60, those seem rare in a coach as well. I’m concerned that at 40’ with 4 slides and other weight that an ISL 400 won’t be enough given we are over mountain passes to get anywhere.

So post away, give me thoughts, links to one’s for sale, or websites with floorplans etc.

We are probably a solid 8-10 months out, and so have lots of time on to chew on what we learn.

Thanks in advance. And yes, I know budget is everything. I think we are in the 100-120k Range which to what I see is an 2003-2006 year range. We expect a to do flooring, appliances, tires, batteries, etc to bring it up to date and and safe.

I can be difficult to determine what's helping or hindering with so many different modifications in play at the same time.

You might try removing this and seeing if it's adding anything at this point. Then if you think improvement is necessary after putting some miles on the new config, add it back and see.

Thanks to you and Tom both. I did take the safety steer off when I did the front watts and rear bars, I definitely noticed a difference in the wrong direction.

I saw the trim from Henderson’s. I’m assuming that it allows you to trim for wind, road crown etc depending on what the conditions are at that given time.

It’s another $700 I’m not sure I want to spend at this point. The Az trip next month will be the deciding factor.

It all might be moot at this point as life is changing and we might off the 5th wheel and my beloved Dip for a bigger coach next year. The wife is trying to figure what will make her happiest and I’m just along for the ride.

In case anyone was wondering about the safety steer adjustment I’m going to make, here is the link

  8. This is a rear Watts. I have the rear cross bars already. In my application, shorter coach, the rear bars didn’t give me a lot of noticeable improvement.

I believe the whole H bar set up of the Roadmaster has too much room to wiggle, thus the wandering.

The rear Watts “locked” the H frame from moving laterally, which to me is important. I strongly feel that by the time the road is felt in the Coach, the suspension is already onto the next section of road. You get this constant squirrelly feeling of never quite being in contact with the road.

Now on the front Watts link, it’s in the rear of the H frame. The front leveling Jack is the only mounting that is available. The front of the H frame still has room to wander/wiggle as the H frame is so long, the watts linkage tries hard to adjust, and does a good job but could be better.

Talking with Van about this, he said if I could fab up something to get the front Watts on the front of the H frame, it would stop the wandering sooner. I agree and am planning to devise a way to mount the fronts watts on the front of the H frame.

Now, my Safety steer “stabilizer” needs adjustment in that it’s designed to “center” the steering, that is same resistance to the left or right. Currently it is not centered, the Coach steers more easily to the left and stiffer to the right. Because the safety steer isn’t centered, the Coach wanders slightly to the left and I have to make constant corrections.

This is probably way more info than anyone is after. I’m not an engineer (or electrician) so trying to understand the forces at work and how each system designed to correct them work. And if any of this needs clarification, or pictures, just ask and I’ll do what I can.

  9. Update:

4 hour drive to the coast. Vastly improved. The rear is solid, the squishy, squirrelly feel is gone.

I got a little 1 handed driving down the freeway.

Noticed my safety steer is biased to the left. Will make the adjustment tomorrow before I head home.

Wifey is skeptical, but I think our trip south to AZ will be great

A follow up.  Washer is up and running.  I am embarrassed to admit the filter was completely clogged.  I have been using detergent pods.  Has anyone else had a problem with them gunking up the filter?

Is there not a cycle to drain and spin the laundry?

If pump is broke it won’t pump it out. I’ve had the impeller go out before. Will just spin and spin

That’s what I figured too but do you have any ideas of how to get the water out without making a big mess? I’m afraid if I pull that plug out the water is just gonna go underneath and start rotting the wood under the washer. Thank you for your help

The last time I looked, most All truck stops has a scale.  Unless your wallet is glued in you hip pocket, spend a little money and get your coach weighed.

    Chuck B, 2004 Windsor

We have zero truck stops in our town. In fact none in a several 100 mile radius. Only scales are state scales, and they leave them on 24/7

Brooke just walked by and saw me looking at Henderson's site and replied with one word, "No". Our budget for this month has apparently reached it's limit, LOL!

Yeah, I get that from mine time to time. Especially with the coach. She’s not a fan of my baby Pearl

I am not of fan of lithium batteries. I am a licensed plane mechanic & pilot and yes some planes are certified to and are using lithium batteries now. There is extra monitoring and checks that have to be performed to use these batteries in planes. At this time my opinion the cost way to expensive for what you get. The Jet I fly cost over 80,000.00 for 2 batteries and the upgrade to lithium.

    Wow.

We’ve had a few fires in town from cheap e-bikes charging in garages. The cheap stuff doesn’t like water, at all
