Oldgoat
1997 Monoco Dynasty . Gen cranks as soon as power is turned on. Burned starter out before I realized what was happening. Book says it's the controller. Any other things I could try before spending 2000 on a new controller? 600 hours on the gunny. Thank you.
timaz996
Maybe your starter is not disengaging at all. Do you mean the starter engages again after you put a load on the generator? Tim
Oldgoat
As soon as I turn the battery switch on for the coach the gen starts cranking. Under troubleshooting it says if the engine cranks without the switch, it's the controller.
Harvey Babb
Try disconnecting the control wire from the starter solenoid. If it still starts then the solenoid is the problem, not the controller. Solenoids sometimes jam in the "on" position or their contacts weld shut.
Oldgoat
I installed a new starter since the old one was too bad to rebuild. Same symptoms. Just trying to find a source to rebuild the controller versus buying a new one. Read that this problem is not uncommon for the 7.5s. Thanks for the reply.
