Added Keypad?

I’m considering replacing my original Trimark keyless entry system with the newer model and adding a keypad at the entry door.  Anyone have experience they’d like to share?  I’m wondering if my ‘06 Dip has wiring in place, or if I’ll need to run the cables.

The new system has better wireless security and offers future expandability. ...and I can purchase extra remotes 😂

Suggestions welcome!

PS - Ill document and post pics here... if I do it.

Scotty,

I converted ours to the newer system about 10 years ago because we could not get the older remotes anymore. I don't remember documenting anything but do remember a few of the wires had to be moved. I did not install the keypad.

I added a keypad entry, where none had previously existed, to my '94 Signature several years ago. I had to run power into the door and add a (car) door lock actuator. Was not the easiest nor simplest mod to do, but if anyone is really interested in repeating this, let me know and I will gather as much documentation as I can. I can probably come up with the keypad and keypad decoder part numbers and produce a hand  wiring schematic. I know the decoder I used was a Stanley made for a garage door application. The keypad was a commercially available metal type from an English manufacturer. My mod does not have remote control ability, but keypad only.

While on the subject of electronic stuff.....the MH community might want to check out the links I have listed below for a truly wireless switch and wired receiver applications like might be needed if you wanted to add a new function in the rear of the MH and have it operate at the cockpit maybe. Would beat the heck out of running new cabling.
