  1. Ok gang, trying to come up with a solution. We don’t have an email notification, but if you’re willing to try something new, this might give you what your looking for...

Download an RSS new reader app (I use Newsify, but that’s one of dozens, just search the App Store or google play store for “rss reader”) and subscribe to the “Test” feed at Monacoers.org.

I’ve set this up to send everything - all new posts, files, articles in a steaming format, similar to receiving sequential emails. If you click on a message, it takes you to that post on the website

It feels very much like the content I received from emails, without the duplication...  and can be read from a phone, tablet, chrome book, or PC.

I may be an old dog, but I can still learn a few new tricks...

I would appreciate your feedback... Below is a view of the app showing unread topics only:

  3. Thanks Mike!

I haven’t spent much time looking at the leaderboard, so I can’t tell you much about it. It’s one of the default features of this software.

I do like the idea of posting more about the “staff”. We’re all volunteers, so staff isn’t really the right term, but the idea of giving more information about the group leadership is a good one.

  4. Update:  After much searching, probing, and gnashing of the teeth, I finally broke down and reached out to the software developer that wrote the core program we use for the website.    Here is his response:

There is no means currently to do what you are looking for. You cannot automatically follow a topic, if you are following forum. It is an explicit opt-in process within the default software.

I’ve requested that be added as a new feature in a future release.  He’s adding it to the list, but I don’t have a timeline when it will come.  🤷🏻‍♂️

  5. Whatever you’re comfortable with.  You can have the last coach you owned, or just “Monaco Alumni”, or Former Monaco owner.

Dave Pratt lists his SOB (some other brand) coach that he currently owns.  Some list the last Monaco.

I don’t think it’s big deal either way.

We’re just glad you still participate and share your knowledge and experience.

Thanks Chris and Scotty but one question, are the discounts accurate when you pull into the station. I've seen FJ at $3.50 and other stations at $3.00 of course I go a block off course for 50 cents a gallon @60 gals but can you determine the discount before fueling to get a better idea of final cost?

Joel, if you download the EFS app you can see the actual net price you will pay.  TDS also publishes it daily (for members only) on the private side of their website.

  7. David,

I tried to go capture this info from Yahoo, but sadly they took everything down a day early.  There's nothing left of the admin interface (which would let me view that), the files, links, or photos.  Just parts of conversations.

    Well, I tried...

  8. I tried and the security software will not let me change the joined date.  It registered he date you joined this new site, and did not import that information from Yahoo.

As far as history, all of your old messages will be restored when we finish the searchable database.

    Regards,

    Scotty

  9. Yes.  In the upper right hand corner of the page, click on your name and select “Account Settings”. You should see a menu to the left of the page and the last menu item is “Signature”.  You can update your signature there, and it is automatically added to the end of each post - BELOW the text of the post.  Look under the line that says “+ Quote Edit” and you should see your signature.

  10. Many have asked...  “How do I change my Display Name?”

Background: When migrating the user database from Yahoo to Monacoers.org, the conversion program brought across your existing username from Yahoo.  If you didn’t have a username, your email address was substituted for your Display Name.  In a handful of cases, very long or unusual (?) user names were imported.  With over 4,500 names to import, the Moderators were not able to audit every user name.

Unfortunately, the system does not allow a user to change their own user name.

If you would like to change your user name (Display Name), please send a private message to me (white envelope in the upper right hand corner of the page) and I will change it to you.  There are a few simple rules:

    - Must be AT LEAST 6 characters (system rule)

    - Cannot be anything obscene, vulgar, or overtly suggestive (Moderator rule).

We are working to allow users to change their own Display Name and hope to have that available in the near future.

  11. Thanks Jerry.  I'll look at editing to make it smaller, or possible some other change. The system is "supposed" to resize it so that doesn't happen, but the best laid schemes o' mice an' men often go awry!

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em...  I redid a newer, kinder banner.

Let me know if that fixed the issue.

  12. Well, to look forward a bit, we are seriously discussing incorporating "Monacoers" as a 501c3 charitable organization.  If we do that and establish a bank account to hold funds that is transparent and accountable to the membership, we may then accept donations. We currently have the capability to collect donations through the site, but it's turned off since we don't have a bank account, and I don't think any of the volunteers would be comfortable holding the money on behalf of the group.

    Stay tuned, and thanks again.

  13. Thanks Chris.  I too would like to add my grateful appreciation to "the individual who shall remain nameless".  Without his help, during an incredibly trying time of the year and of his life, NONE of this would have happened.

The Bill D's Monacoers owe him more than anyone realizes.

  14. Right now you can't change your Display Name.  Please private message me with your old Display Name and your desired Display Name and I'll change it for you.

To private message click on the white envelope in the upper right hand corner.

I hope to change this setting where users can change their own display names, but it may take several days.

    Scotty

  15. Thank you so much Denise!  Bill D's Monacoers has always been a labor of love, run completely by volunteers.  We haven't discussed accepting donations, but I will raise the issue with the group leadership.  Right now our costs are fairly minimal and are typically covered out-of-pocket by the Moderators.
