  1. Final update. Ended up going over the mountain on 441. Traffic was light early in the morning and Newfound Gab webcam showed no snow so away we went. Only issues where that it tried to snow on us at the top (35 degrees) and the wild turkey that tried to attack us in Cherokee. I wouldn't hesitate to go that route again. Thanks to everyone for their input.
  2. Thanks for the advice. Calling for snow in the mountains tonight so going to try your route. Wish I had that problem with tires. 23K on 7 year old Hercules so replacing them when we get home.
  3. Thanks for the update. MH has exhaust brake, brakes are good, and we tow a CRV so will give it a try.
  4. Amphi_sc, did you take 321 west to 75? Hadn't even looked at that route. Only been as far as Wears Valley.
  5. Mike, if we head north from the coast then that is the route we use. We live in The Villages so I-75 goes right by us. Tom, Vette (C6) owners here as well. Google has always tried to send us down 441 over the mountains and haven't ever tried it. Just looking for other options.
  6. Mike, if we were that far north then wouldn't think twice about your route. We stay right in PF at Mill Creek RV so are at the south end of town. We have driven the northern route on 441 thru Sevierville to I-40 and around that way to I-75 and on home to Florida. Hate the drive thru Sevierville since the traffic is aways a rolling parking lot on 441 all the way to the freeway. Coming in a couple of weeks ago it took us over an hour from the freeway to the RV park in PF. Have tried Veterans Blvd past Dollywood but still get stuck getting thru Sevierville. Grew up in Eastern Oregon so mountain passes and narrow roads not a big concern. Not really in a big hurry so thought the scenic drive would be nice.
  7. Just wondering if anyone has traveled south from Pigeon Forge to Florida. We have always gone north from PF to I40 and I75. Online I have seen posts pro and con about going south on 441 to Franklin NC and on south that way. Just wondering if that is ok with a 40' and toad?
  8. Tom, Thanks for heading me in the right direction. What I have is an unbranded, powered tail light converter. Imputs are LT, RT, Brake, Marker, Ground, and 12v. Outputs are LT, RT, and Marker. Grounding is provided by an external wire. I am looking at the Curt 56187 as the replacement. Mike
  9. My other thought is...Do I even need anything if my CRV is set up with diodes installed on the tail lights?
  10. It appears that the isolator for the turn signals for the toad has gone bad. No output to the left turn signal. Flashing power in but no output. Right turn and tail lights are working. Any suggestions as to the best replacement? 6 wires in - 3 wires out.
  11. Was it running and stopped, or just won't start? One thing to check is the fuel level on the main tank. On our Windsor, when the fuel level drops below about 1/2 full the generator won't run because of the fuel pick up location in the tank.
  12. The only steady load is when we are traveling and it is running a Dutch Aire 120v conversion on my Norcold 1200. Seems to be drawing less that 5 amps under load. We try to make sure everything else is off. I have checked/cleaned both ends of the 4 wire cable and that didn't seem to help. I might be interested in the used unit as a backup.
  13. The inverter in my '03 Windsor has started to misbehave. It is a RV2012. For some reason, it will occasionally shut off on it's own. It doesn't seem to be throwing an error to the RC7 GS control panel so not sure where to start. I did notice that I don't hear any fans running in the inverter so my first thought is the cooling fan has decided to give up. Before I start tearing things apart, I am just wondering if the fan is a serviceable part and where is the best place to source a replacement.
  14. Just purchased this on Amazon and it is a perfect fit for my '03 Windsor. Least expensive from the many sources that I checked.
  15. Hercules on our Windsor. 5 years old and still look like new. No cracking and even treadwear.
