  1. Barry at Josam's found a bad drag link on our coach at 75,000 miles in 2013.  Went through a tough time getting a replacement, eventually from the original manufacturer and he installed it.  Last spring with 165,000 miles the drag link had failed again.  This time Barry got one with replaceable ends from Henderson's in Oregon.  And yes it was regularly greased and serviced.  It happens I guess.

  2. Just to add our two cents.  We have been doing this for more than 25 years, and full timing for over 17.  At first we followed the toilet paper wars, which one broke down better etc.  Then later we used and still use regular TP, we are constantly on the move except for 4 months in Florida for the winter so the tanks get sloshed a lot.  Your house your rules is your business, but in this house there is no way the TP isn't going in the toilet!  We also add Happy Camper to the black tank.  We dump about once a week, we leave the gray open until a day before dumping, then close the gray valve, my wife does a couple loads of wash, a few showers etc and the gray tank is full.  Then using our Sani-Con we dump the black then leaving the black valve open, open the gray to allow gray into the black tank, about 25%, then close the gray, and dump the black again, we do that until 25% is left in the gray tank and then close the black, and open the gray and pump the rest of the gray through the hose.  Every month we use the black tank washer several fills, no problems so far, no plugs, no masses of TP, we have a clear section at the Sani-Con so we can see, no smells, works good.  JMO

They DO! I guess you haven't been to their site recently.

Click below to read about their Aladdin Conversion System.

    Aladdin Conversions – SilverLeaf Electronics

    Thank you.  No I haven't.

I posted before that I am in the process of receiving and installing the Silverleaf conversion for the Aladdin.  There are two levels of Aladdin.  The lesser Aladdin system is referred to Aladdin Jr.   I believe that most of the systems in Monaco Coaches are the full system that gives you engine, cameras, shore power, battery, tank levels...    The Silverleaf conversion for the full Aladdin does give you all of this info with a few other features(I am adding inverter monitoring since my inverter has that capabilities).  I just received the kit and will try to lay it out and send some pictures of all included.  There are some differences from coach to coach on what they put in the kit.  If you have interest, you contact Silverleaf(they were very helpful on the phone through the entire process), and they will send you an info email with a form to fill out with the equipment on your bus.  Each kit will be made up for your couches equipment.   https://silverleafelectronics.com//?page_id=2732   More info to come.

I am following your project.  Would you also share the approximate cost of the system?

  4. Does your Silverleaf monitor all the electrical and batteries, compass, temps, etc?

I am also a SilverLeaf user for the past 12 years and a huge fan. I use the VMSpc for monitoring my engine data plus it integrates with the Pressure Pro TPMS if needed.

Some people have gone to the BlueFire system for engine data. Don't know much about that system.

  5. Today we finally had an opportunity to get and troubleshoot, which started with no status lights at all.  Then unplug and plug all lines, and when we reset the line which I believe goes up to the main switch under the dash, everything came back.  Wow, good news!

I've been SilverLeaf products in my coach for 20 years now that show engine data, there stuff works well and appears to be made well.   I haven't used their Aladdin replacement products though.

If I can't find a loose wire or bad connection, I am very interested in what kind of readouts you get for AC legs, amperage draw, house battery condition and voltage Dc amp draw etc?  I recently installed a See Level so don't need the tank levels, but I need the electrical info, and fault descriptions that are depicted on my Aladdin from my Surge Guard transfer switch.

  7. Thanks much to both of you.  I will be unable to do that until Tuesday of next week as we are tied up til then.  It appears to me that all the inputs to the bus taps are connected to each other so it doesn't matter where each is plugged in, is that true?

  8. My Aladdin had been working fine, but when I stopped for lunch, I started the generator and went over to the house electric page and found all xxxx's for all the values AC, DC, and solar. Then to the tank level page and likewise all xxxx's on tank quantities, compass, and temperatures. But the engine page works fine, the trip and fuel page works fine, time and date, cameras work fine. Haven't had a chance to get into it yet, but looking at the schematics, the only thing I see that ties those items together is the bus tap. When it warms up, may have to wait until we get back to Florida, I am going to try to swap some of the inputs in the 2 bus taps in the cargo bay and see if the problem follows. Any advice or ideas would be welcome. Thanks.
