  1. Which is a better injection system. The big 3 pickup makers are vacillating on pumps as problem arise. I think I read Ram is going back to a CP3 that has been redesigned to handle the pressure/volume. CP4 failures were creeping up. And Chevy went away from them (CP4) all together. I believe they run Denso now. Feel free to let me know if I need to edit. I’m a Ford Guy.
  2. Have you looked into Harvest Host or Boondockers Welcome? We Bought into Harvest Host ($79) a year. Haven't used it yet but hope to as 1 night stays are their thing (free), just ask that you purchase whatever the farm, winery, brewery is selling. Or you can add on Golf which allows you to golf or most courses just ask you visit the pro shop and grab a polo. It's a great way to shop for gifts to give to family. Boondockers Welcome seems a little different, some hosts want you to come in and hang out, not my thing, but most sites they will leave you alone. I haven't investigated them as much. After a night at a Pilot, A night in a Rest area after the Wife freaked at the though of spending another night at a pilot, I grabbed Harvest Host as an outlet if we are somewhere we are unfamiliar with. Youtube Traveling with Robert. He has stopped at more that a Few Rest Areas and Walmarts on His trip from Florida to Quartzsite a few years back. Long video, like 2 hours, but he chronicles it pretty good. RVerTv on youtube has been all over AZ and stopped many places as well.
  3. Thanks Van, I'll figure out the 1/4 valve for placement on the outlet of the Primary filter. The secondary is still the original set up that has a drain on the bottom. And yes, just insurance for the CAPPS. A fueled body is a happy body no matter what that body is. Thanks again for your insight. Ordering Monaco Watts front and Rear Cross today to help keep thing thing between the lines. The TRW is in the works as well. I believe I need to pull the Shepherd to see what the stamp for cross reference, but thats a whole other thread to start. JD
  4. Changed out lighting to LED Took out sink cabinet to paint and get rid of carpet under sink, yuck. hillbilly handle fix is gone as well
  5. Thanks Van for chiming in. I’ve poured over almost everything you have posted, and truly appreciate all you have done for the Monaco Community. I need your help on this then. If the FASS system I purchased and installed doesn’t work correctly by design, am I damaging the engine? The 8.3 return line comes off the injectors, under the cover, and back through the primer (lift) pump on the side closest to block if I’m understanding what over read and looked at. It then is returned to the tank to be re-filtered again once it’s drawn up by the FASS If it doesn’t work like that, do I need attached a line from the manifold end and return it to tank? The instructions from the kit shows it returning. Again, if it is hurting the engine, I need to know. I cannot afford to rebuild and engine down the road.
  6. Thanks! Gauge now on todo list. Do you keep a spare relay now? It is on my list for onboard parts now LOL. Having only driven the coach with FASS, as it was my first mod, can you explain any differences you noticed? And pics of install as the OP is looking for install ideas
  7. Following this, We have seepage from our valves
  8. Everyone will be fuming trying to pick apart spelling, grammar, punctuation, if you read what I’m trying to say. I’m old, but young enough on the inter web that the whole proper sentence structure has been lost with the advent of texting. It’s just gone. I’m too busy to proof read when I post, so I’ll edit throughout the day when I get a few mins. IDK, with things so crazy anymore, sentence structure seems an odd thing to throw shade at, but getting mad and offended these days is the new “norm”. Here’s a topic that will bring me back from the brink of destruction: fishing So if I seem mad, insulting, angry, a jerk, etc., just ask me how the fishing is and my mind forgets everything and goes to Pleasent thoughts of big trout and salmon. long rant, sorry, Here to LEARN and LAUGH in either order
  9. Thanks! We are going over Res fridge tomorrow as well as upgrading inverter and an AGS. Having dogs is a big thing for safety, so fridge and AC. I mentioned we have one in the 5vr. I have 2 banks, 1 with 2 6 volts and 1 with 4 6 volts. Put a switch between them so the fridge wouldn’t suck the batteries dry and leave us with no juice. The 5vr doesn’t have an onboard Gen or solar, I would run the 2k Yamaha for a few hours in the afternoons. I’d like to get a bit more out of the coach. So I’ll see what we come up with. thanks again
  10. Anyone is free to holler and let me know if I’m outta line.
  11. Well that was short lived. Love opening a box and hear broken stuff rattling around
  12. Ugg yeah that has crossed our minds. We have an residential fridge in our 5vr and love it. The thing that comes up is we are wanting to be “off grid” camping a little more. Upgrading batteries, inverter and maybe solar, get complicated. I’ve seen the pics of burnt sides on coaches. I know it can happen. How long do you off grid? Do you use the generator much to keep batteries charged? Thanks for any help Mail brought more stuff LED lights speakers Transfer switch
  13. So item 2 in the diagram has 2 sides. The supply side is what I bypassed. from my FASS it goes straight to secondary filter (item 3) The “lift” pump is capped on both ends. The other side which doesn’t show where it goes is the return side of the pump? That’s what I’ve been told as it is intact and works.
  14. I’m no electrical engineer by any feat. The factory “lift/prime” pump has a sensor on the bottom power/sensing to computer. You install a relay to “trick” the computer into believing the pump is still active, but it is not. The kit comes all wired, you tap an ignition wire, there is a wire for 12v from the battery and ground. The ignition wire in kit goes to relay, and so when ignition is on, relay sends constant power to FASS pump. Which spits out 15psi. That appears to be the limit the CAPPS main pump likes. If someone else is more up to speed on the electrical side, chime in.
  15. Nice set up for sure. We are reaching the same goal. It’s not a “lift pump” like on a ISB. The systems are just cutting out the primer pumps. The kit I used just retains the factory fuel filters. With your kit you can either use 4 filters or eliminate the factory filters and use the FASS filters. Both kits are pushing fuel to Capps pump, and returning unused fuel to the tank. You will be better served to follow the YouTube video posted as he installs the same system as you are wanting to do. I didn’t have the time or fab knowledge to attempt what Mike does, the ultra RV product took care of what I suspect we are both after, keeping $5k in our pockets for a Capps pump failure not to occur. I’ll snap some pics here in a min Few pics The ignition wire I found and tapped into for pump Relay for pump fuse the FASS pump mounted. Hose from Primary to pump, then hose it to secondary. I can crawl under and show you the relay plugged into the Primer pump if you want to see it and get pics of the primer pump capped off. The capped hose is the original hose. I left it there in case I ever have a failure with FASS to keep me moving
  16. Here’s fuel flow pics People call it a “lift pump” but all it does is prime for 30 seconds and kicks off. The main injection pumps then sucks fuel from the tank. This FASS pulls from tank and pushes to pump. At 15psi. Leaving the return line from main pump to primer pump allows the return line to stay intact and used.
  17. Ok great! Being new I don’t know everything or want to rock the the boat https://www.ultrarvproducts.com/Diesel-Fuel-System/UP95G-Heavy-Duty-Lift-Pump-for-Cummins-ISC-ISL-CAPS-Fuel-System This is the kit I purchased. Has all the fitting, wiring, relays etc. I had to mount it and measure for hose ($200 at Parker store) The diagrams show the flow route you are looking for. I’ll see if I can find the paperwork. I’ll also get you pics here shortly
  18. So on the kit I did, the pump is in the compartment with the Jack hydros, air dryer, and primary filter, I guess it’s the AC fan compartment. Anyway, welded in a cross section of c metal. Custom hose from primary filter to pump, then pump to secondary filter. Capped the ports on the primer pump, which is still used as the return line.
  19. Mike is a true craftsman. His coach is so nice and his shop too
  20. Just did this. There is a ready made kit. Works great! Not sure if I can mention the name. I can get some pics tomorrow for install on our 02 Diplomat
  21. Good morn, I fell upon this site a few weeks ago and have been pouring over all the info here, many thanks to those who post and have added tech tips. I'll try and read before I ask to many questions. We bought the 02 Dip to test the MH life. We currently sold our home and moved into our 5vr and needed a different RV for travel. We have few AC here in our hometown for a home base as we still own a biz here, but would like to be warm a few months a year. Anyway, picked up the Dip, 34' and have done a few Mods/upgrade. I had an icemaker leak it I believe as the tile was cracked and floor spongy. So out it came and new sub floor and plank installed. We also cut the bed down 5 3/4" while it was out. Rear Slide was missing lags to re-adjusted and set with new screws also. New couch on order. Going to Paint two kitchen cabinets next week, along with new shower pan. We removed the old shower completely, and the wall that divided the bathroom from the bed room. I also bypassed the Primer pump for the Capps injection with a FASS pump that is situated between Primary and secondary pump. Works great. New LED lights going inside this weekend, along with a new transfer switch (thanks here for all the info on IOTA switch, having GFI issues when I got home and put coach on shore power) Also got an alignment yesterday. It was an insanely scary ride home from AZ to say the least and found out tires were both toes out and 1" Should help LOL. Mods left: TRW Box, Monaco Watts front and cross bar rear. Coach has Bilsteins on front, old Monroes on rear so will those will go. AC pump is froze, so need to pull the RADS and replace pump and belts. I'd like to upgrade to a XC pro inverter, in time. Televator TV cabinet to build. Here are some before/after pics. Will add more if anyone wants to see progress. Wife is not thrilled with the outside colors, but I consider the coach as I mentioned one to cut my teeth on before getting into something else. Grew up absolutely loving Beaver Coaches, and supose will end up with one someday. The older coaches just are solid. Trying to convince my wife of this. She loves the bling of todays stuff, I just see them as cheap.
  22. Either way. Mom says Justin, Dad says JD. I’ll try and stay on topic. LOL I have lots to learn, I have roof sag around back AC.
