Right turn signal issues (CCM Kongsberg)
Mike Barrett replied to Dalesincal's topic in Electrical Systems
For what it is worth, I redid the wiring harness from the connector to all the front end lights (headlights, etc) and found the original was badly corroded. Simple fix in the grand scheme of things. -
Very helpful on 2 levels. 1st tow truck dragged the whole assembly toward the front and it pinches the front edge of the stainless trim and need to work on realignment (how is an open question). 2nd more importantly is that ALL the joint/arm connections in my coach are worn out. Seeing the 'clean and flat' washers, on the arms confirmed what I suspected. I need to replace all of them with some clean nylon (delrin if I can find it) & stainless washers (allows for arms to move more easily). Off to the hardware store

What wind speed do you pull in your slides?
Mike Barrett replied to Mike Barrett's topic in General Motorhome Discussion
I have seen the true toppers video a few months ago. Still working my way through more 'mission critical' items to this 'new to us' coach. It is clear that all the awning fabric is up for replacement in the next 6-8 mos as time allows. thanks for the reminder on true toppers. -

Why I do my own maintenance

Really good point on disconnecting all the computers in the coach before whacking the system with a welder. Seems many of the switches etc are really sensitive to voltage spikes/drops. -
it was - prior owner cratered it, and tried some sort of frankenstien rebuilt that was cratered when I bought it. Replaced w Durawatt 13.5k which as the Isuzu engine. Which works pretty darn well I might add.
-
Onan has used Kubota engines for a long long time - DuraWatt uses Isuzu. 3 point mounts are oddly much quieter than 4 point mounts (I am not an engineer, just observant) the hyper expensive coaches actually have small airbags as mounts, not ready to go to that level. clearance, etc wasn't built for that.

Hush box is an sound insulated box that the prevost etc put around their generators. They build it in as part of the engineering etc etc. I am toying with a diy attempt for the cage around the gennie slide
-
Was standing next to a 10k onan that clearly had some sort of aftermarket 'hush box' installed. Exhause looked standard but really, rally quite. I am thinking they installed some sound insulation boards 'in' the cage that houses the generator. I recently had to replace my generator (went w/ a durawatt out of leesburgh) and they have a pretty quite unit (13.5k), the version 2.0 was much quiter and it was based more on the mounting that the muffler.

ALSO check for corrosion in the harnesses from the connector to the headlight assembly - I redid mine and solved a bunch of issues. -

Re-install TV and upgrade the receiver
Mike Barrett replied to Martinvz's topic in Audio, Video, & Electronics
Very timely as I am about to take on a complete redo. Prior owners put in a mixed bag of A/V. The wire and remote count is a comic tragedy....... The articulating arm is a good idea, but needs some sort of positive lock process. Dont need the tv to swing out while going up some grade, etc. As well as can support a larger screen outside the box vs in. The lock process could also pick up the weight/vibration duties when traveling Hmmmmmmm -
Get to a truly flat spot. My storage yard has a flat pad. Test it with some water. It shouldnt run fas and only slowlyy Then get $35 laser level from hime depot. Put it in the floor, shoot it both back to from and feont to back. There two lines in the level. Verticle and horizontal. The verticle line will seperate if you are tilted, it will show tilt where you put the level, not where it lights up a wall. Horizontal (measure from the floor, adjust for any carpet. You can adjust the coach to be totally level isomg tje manual adjustments in your leveling system. Once completley level, then comduct the level system bubble reset process according to its manual.

Thanks for the info and manual. Both electric heating status and electric element status lights are dark. Have used electric many times and on this trip, it has suddenly stopped working. Tried the diesel and wala it worked. Would like to get the electric workimg again. I was wondering if there is a fuse somewhere. It seemed related to when I turned off the house batteries to swap them out. -
2008 Signature (Konsberg) Desiel works fine electric wont turn on. Plugged into 50 amp shore power. Low temp cutoff light dimly lit in the bay. Did hit the reset button Thoughts?
