Guest bobstromain Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Before servicing the gen. I ran it a few minutes to warm the oil and had no problems. Even though I crimped the fuel lines like I always do there seemed to be more fuel running out of the small line than usual. When complete tried to start and it is not priming. I hear the prime pump running but it is very quiet and obviously is not pumping fuel. Disconnected line at filter and it seems to be pulling but not strong. Any comments appreciated Bob St. Romain 04 Windsor
Ivan K Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Fuel pumps are good at pushing the fluid, not as much at sucking it. I would open the tank and put a hose on it and a bit of pressure to help the pump get primed. Sounds like it is running dry. The tank vent may or may not be plugged but that would help to identify it.
CapnDean Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Sounds to me like you changed the fuel filter. Before doing a whole lot of trouble shooting, hit the prime button and run the primer for at least 30 seconds, Do this about 5 times and then try to start. See what happens.
