Engine Hatch Latches

Recommended Posts

I had to replace one on my 2008 Monaco Signature IV recently. They are called Flush Lever Compression Latches. You can find them on eBay and Amazon. Prices are all over the place so it pays to shop.

Here is a link to the one I bought. It is keyed, some are not. It fits my engine compartment and my battery compartments.

They are also listed on page 166 of our VERY extensive Monacoers Parts List. if you haven't done so already, I would suggest that you download the list to your PC or preferred device so that you have immediate access to it in case you don't have an Internet connection.

Dr4Film, The link in the parts list is no longer valid.  I also am not sure which latches are used in the 2007 Monaco Camelot 42PDQ.   As I also have the same model RV as bandmmorris I was looking.  I see two models on their website, C5-11-15 https://southco.com/en_us_int/c5-11-15 and the C5-11-25 https://southco.com/en_us_int/c5-11-25.  Does anyone know which would be the correct one?  Who can update the parts list with the new link?

I was not successful searching the Southco website. I found when doing a lot of searching on Amazon and Ebay that the arm length of the latch on my motorhome is much longer than most advertised. The arm length needs to be 67mm. I found it best to simply search for latches that looked like mine and had the same dimensions as mine. Most did not. Pretty much all of the latches have dimensions so you can compare. I only found one company that made on that seemed like it would fit. Of course it was made in China and I will likely have to wait a month or more to get it.

Unfortunately, when I update the parts list, the task to check that all links work would be monumental.  When you come across an item with a broken link, Google is your friend.

However, when someone points out a broken link, I put that on the to-do list to correct on the next parts list update.

William, I purchased Compression Latches for the outside engine cover (Hood, if you will) from SOUTHCO about a year ago. You can get them in Locking or non-locking versions. The part # for the locking I ordered is C5-32-35

The description is: Compression Latch, Key Locking, w/Dust Shutter, 11-21mm Panel, 29-45mm Grip, Powder Coat, Black

Here's a link: https://southco.com/en_us_int/c5-32-35

The cost at that time was $45.17

I don't know that these are the same as your inside ones, but they look pretty close.

At the time I spoke w/ Megan Randolph, their phone # is: 610-361-7457.  She explained about the sizes, locking or non-locking, etc.

Hope this helps,

Bob Bowers, 2006 Camelot 40PDQ
