Stephen Walsh
The living room awning on our 2008 Monaco Cayman is separating from where it is attached to the coach. Does that require replacement? See photos of each side. Edited April 11, 2023 by Stephen Walsh Hit end by accident
Rick A
I’d say that’s a yes. Looks like the fabric has torn in the channel. The fabric starts to rot and tears so this means replacing it. Not very expensive but tricky doing it yourself if you are on you own. Need 2 ladders. Watch videos online or just get the repair tech in! It also looks like the rubber slide seal has torn away, it’s hanging down? Edited April 11, 2023 by Rick A

hex_nut
The sad part about this design of slide topper is that the first 4 inches or so of the material is exposed to the elements. Over time and sun exposure that 4 inches of material will be destroyed. When we first purchased our 2006, we addressed that issue (it was not as bad as yours). We removed the fabric from all of our slide toppers (4), and found there to be an excess of material rolled up on the roller that was like new. We cut off the 4 inches of bad material and resewed all the seams (the thread was deteriorating also). The material was installed reversed to it's original orientation to take advantage of the like-new material on the other end of the roll. That was six years ago. The material now needs to totally be replaced, but at least we got an extra six years out of them. Whatever you do, be cautious and safe and make sure you correctly pin the spring wound rollers before removing them. Serious damage can be done with all that stored energy in those springs. Martinvz
We had the same several years ago. We removed the toppers and after shortening it by about 6 inches we were able to re-install them. My wife is an accomplished seamstress and made this possible as the remaining topper material was still good.
