  1. Just watched a Magnum Energy video on setting up charging parameters with their ME-ARC remote. When discussing battery types they said AGM-1 is used for Lifeline batteries and AGM-2 for “most other brands”. That’s not something you can go on 100% but it’s worth noting.
  2. Threw me too. I think he meant BMK, Battery Monitor Kit.
  3. That’s the conclusion I came to. Hot water is only used fir dish washing, hand washing and showers. Leave it there and don’t worry about it. Actually we never use cold water for anything that will go in our bodies. But it still burns me up the cheap junk didn’t last the first use.
  4. Missed that. But still wondering if it will be like the dog with a 3 foot long stick in its mouth trying to go through a 2 foot wide door?
  5. That’s the advice of Camco. They say the melting temperature of the nozzle is 230-250°. I located it using my borescope. I might be able to hook it with a coat hangar or claw tool. But once I get it to the drain orienting it to remove will be difficult. I still don’t like leaving it in there, though.
  6. They don’t indicate if it’s flexible. Is it?
  7. My shop recommended running the fill water with the plug out. So far no luck. Will try my borescope next. But even if I can see it getting something on it will be a trick.
  8. Several experts advise cleaning the water heaters once a year. So I bought a Camco Water Heater Tank Rinser, connected it to my hose and proceeded to clean the tank. As soon as I turned the valve the tool on BAM, the tube that attaches to the valve and is inserted in the tank blew off and is now residing in the tank out of sight and reach! Great. Any suggestions? (Can I make a comment about cheap Chinese junk?)
  9. Bluetooth range is an issue. My Victron solar charge controller has Bluetooth. I don’t get connectivity in the living room. Have to step to the bedroom door to check it. I’ll check out the Cerbo GX.
  10. Thanks. I’m familiar with SOC, just not the term visibility in relation to it. I now see you mean readout or gauge. You’ve helped me with the issue of isolated versus non-isolated. I have a Magnum Energy ME-ARC remote and an ME-BMK battery monitor kit. The BMK has a shunt, obviously. So are all shunts the same? Can more than one BMK be connected to the same shunt? Can more than one shunt be put in series on the same cable? I’d like to add a Victron BMV-712 monitor to get the Bluetooth capability.
  11. You got me at “Determine if you need visibility to your lithium battery”. I’ve never heard the visibility term related to electrical systems. Please explain.
  12. I installed two lithium batteries in my coach. Following the advice not to charge them directly from the alternator I disconnected the cable for that. I’ve been depending on shore/generator power through the inverter/charger plus solar panels to charge the new house batteries. I’d like to get charging from the alternator again so the best option I am aware of is to install a DCDC charger. What goes into the calculations of what size DCDC charger to install? 13. Took another look in the wet bay. I identified the potable water tank and the top of it is well below the snap disk. I do believe it’s mounted to plastic covering the frame rails. Thanks
  14. Thanks Tom. You’ve put a lot of effort into this and I appreciate it. I was going to ask about the corroded post on the snap disc. BTW it’s located on the plastic cover over the frame rail (I believe)and behind the toilet pipe to the black water tank. It’s only accessible two ways, through the hole that the tank quantity indicator leaves when it’s pulled off or removing the entire wet bay panel, not something I care to do. The first access, though can only be done with one arm and I can’t see in the cavity with my arm in the hole. I will have to attempt to unscrew the snap disc from the wall blindly and certainly can never get it reinstalled. But that’s OK, though. Like you said it can just dangle. I don’t know if the leads are long enough to get both hands in to reconnect it, though. But I’ll give it a try. This all reinforces my feelings about designers.
  15. OK, so have I found the snap disc? This is behind the wet bay panel. I opened the heater and checked the fuse. It’s good. Am I correct that the heater connector wires are red-positive power, black-ground and small white in middle should be 12v positive from snap disc. I tried connecting red and white wires to positive on a battery and black to negative and nothing happened but I was just holding them by hand so I might not have made good contact.
  16. That’s a very good question. Short answer, no, I’m not. It there was a reasonable way to test it it sure would be nice.
  17. If I could reach it. At best I could get one arm in there reaching through the hole left after removing the tank quantity indicator panel. But I couldn’t see anything at that point.
  18. Just went to coach and got some pics.First, the only thing I found behind the wet bay panel and on the plastic covering the frame rail (at least that’s what I think I’m looking at) is in the picture. The wires lead to something in a hole in the plastic cover. Could that be the snap disc? It doesn’t look like I expected. (First two images) I then looked at the switch. So, should the light in the power switch illuminate any time the switch is in the on position and there be a light in the red panel below “ Active” come on if the snap disc closes and activates the wet bay heater?
  19. Got the wiring diagram. The diagram indicates there are two lights for activation, one in the switch to show switch on and a separate one to show the snap disc is activated. Am I right. My understanding of my system is there is only one light, the one in the switch and it only comes on when the snap disc closes and the heater is activated. Thanks
  20. Do you recall the title for the download by Tom Cherry you refer to? I went to downloads and searched for “Wet bay heater” and got nothing. Thanks
  21. How do I get to the files section of Monacoers? Thanks, Ed
  22. I’m not following all you say. The connector in the photo is attached to the heater. Is that what you mean by heating element side? Your right, I’ll check voltage between black and red wires on other connecter from the coach that the plug in the photo connects to. There should be voltage there regardless of snap disc open or closed. Am I correct? to test the snap disc I’d have to find it and put an ice pack on it, right? Thanks
  23. My wet bay heater doesn’t seem to work. I have removed it and plan to test it with twelve volts directly. I believe I should put positive voltage to two of the wires and negative to one but which. In the picture the plug has red, white and black wires. Which two should I put the positive to? If it doesn’t work with that power I’ll disassemble it and check the fuse. If the heater works that leaves the snap disc. Unfortunately it is placed so out of the way I can’t find it.
