  1. I knew the Onan 7.5 K on our coach was toast when we bought it and I had just planned on having the engine rebuilt. Took it to Cummins in Spartanburg where they charged us $750 for a diagnosis, informed us they don't rebuild those engines and then we proceeded to have a new 8 K installed. $10,000 later, had a new generator/engine. Our maintenance is done meticulously!
  2. Looking for easy fixes for overheating. My owners manual references Fleetguard WF 2071 coolant filter for our 2001 HR. I found a youtube video that showed it adjacent to the secondary fuel filter. I can't find it anywhere, but did find a hole in the muffler while looking for the filter! Will it ever end? Can anyone help me?
  3. So happy to be over my need for speed, as well as 4-wheeling! Did the Big Bend Open Road Race in 2005 from Stockton to Sanderson, TX and return in a 1988 Mazda 323 GTX averaging 105 MPH. After 20 years of 4-wheeling most everything in CO as well as Moab, we moved to NC and the only 4 wheel drive we have now is our 2003 Honda Element which made it over Medano Pass to the Great Sand Dunes CO. Wouldn't do that again.
  4. I was thinking after my post, I may have put two layers of that material, one on top of the other. Not certain, but very possible to get a good seal. Roy
  5. Recently replace both AC covers which came from Canada without insulation. Bought this on Amazon and mounted it to the covers just measuring where it needed to be. Working great. Roy
  6. Asking for a friend. Who follows the rules these days??
  7. Just finished a 4,000 mile, 6 week trip to include NC, TN, AR, TX, KS, CO, MO, IL, IN, KY. Bought 6 new Toyos at Cowser Tires in Fort Worth, along with 1 new wheel for $3,000. The G661's still looked great, but they would have been 6 years old in July. Getting ready for a week trip to Tamarack, Beckley WV followed by a few days in Chuckey, TN this month. Greensburg, IN for a Lee Greenwood concert and maybe back to IL for a few days in October. Back to Fort Worth for a week at Christmas. Probably FL for a couple of weeks in the winter. Doing my best to wear this HR out before I check out! Made a point of no particular agenda, avoid interstate highways and if you have to go through any city of any size, do it early in the morning after the riots have ended for the previous day. If you need something or you intend to travel, I would do it now. I remember a few years ago in CO paying $4.75 for diesel. Not looking forward to that, but I fear its coming. I'm 80, going on 17! Roy M.
  8. Thanks to all. Page 10-271 in my owners manual has chassis and engine specs and tank capacities, with no mention of coolant capacity. I bought this used and it didn't come with a Cummins book of any sort, just what is in the owner's manual. I was considering the OAT after draining and going through serial flushes with distilled water. Probably check with Fleetguard Test Strips monthly a few times until I get it where it needs to be. I didn't appreciate how maintenance free our 1996 Rexhall Rexair with the Ford 460 was!! I still like the Endeavor, but would recommend anyone buying any DP spend some time educating themselves before committing, unless they are independently wealthy and just hire folks to take care of all that stuff!
  9. After 2 1/2 years of owning a 2001 Holiday Rambler Endeavor 40' with the Cummins ISC 8.3 liter 330 HP engine, I just learned about SCA's! Have determined I need to add Fleetwood DCA4 to my system. Having scoured my owner's manual from front to back, I can find nowhere which addresses the coolant capacity. Page 10-249 includes a sentence "Refer to the Coolant Capacity Specifications in this section." I find no such information anywhere. I understand there will be variation depending on the coolant plumbing, heater, etc. HELP! Roy Million 2001 HR Endeavor 2003 Honda Element
  10. Totally agree with you. Spent 3 days at Pointes West Army Resort north of Augusta, GA and opted for another 3 days. We live 150 miles from there and have already decided that is our "best place" for a getaway. Roy
  11. Don't know where you live, but in North Carolina start looking for corrosion at any connections. We moved from low humidity Colorado to high humidity North Carolina and I remember our last MH, a 1996 Rexhall Rexair steps stopped working and I found corrosion in most of the connections to the motor for the steps. Cleaned everything up and that fixed the problem. Roy
  12. Actually, after we have used most of our 100 gallons of well water from home, we use bottled water. Dasani is out now, CocaCola product. I have a similar issue with pressure gauges, having never had an issue with water pressure while connected to a campground water outlet. Are they really necessary? Just trying to keep my remaining years in proper perspective!! Life is good in Crossville, TN for a couple of days. HR is running like a top. Decided to make this 3000 mile trip on the Goodyear G661's manufactured in July 2015. No weather cracking and just still look great. Life is great. Roy
  13. How important are filters? Having traveled throughout the US and Europe drinking water from wherever for over 60 years now, I can only remember one bad incident when I got sick. Running a marathon north of Frankfurt I drank from drainage from a pasture. Giardia. I guess I just choose to not live in fear. Have been RVing throughout the USA since 2004 without any filters in our class A motorhomes. Without problems. Roy Million
  14. e trailer, Stromberg Carlson Support Pegs. Mine are just riveted to the cap. Roy, 2001 HR Endeavor
  15. I am curious how others clean the radiator/intercooler on a HR Endeavor with a Cummins 330. I have sprayed the Extreme Green solution from the closet access as well as from beneath the coach, spraying afterward with a water hose. I find this a really questionable method and still can't believe an engineer would place the radiator/intercooler in a place so exposed to dirt/dust/oil/engine/blowby/whatever!!
  16. If I have any of that, I hope I never need to learn about or use it!!! Roy
  17. OMG. I'm through. 2001 HR Endeavor for sale. Just eagerly anticipating the next problem!! Cheap. Roy
  18. Went through this 2 years ago and after some research returned to Camping World for the 3rd time and told them to replace the pressure regulator on the propane tank and it has worked fine ever since. When it got cold enough, the pressure regulator failed. Don't claim to understand all that, but it worked in my case.
  19. Does anyone know where rubber seals for the slideouts on a 2001 Holiday Rambler Endeavor 40' can be purchased?
