  1. I am sorry I did not see this earlier. It seems like the exact same problem I had several years ago. I thought it was likely a bad inverter but it was a bad 50 amp cord running to the coach. One of the hot wires was broken so I only had one of the 2 50 amp circuits working. With a multimeter, check the pedestal to see if you have 110 volts on each of the two circuits. Then check to see if you have 110 on each of the two circuits where it plugs into the RV (assuming I’d does plug in). If it does not unplug and see if you have continuity on each of your positive wires and where that circuit connects to your 2 50 amp breakers. In any case you only have half of your 110 plugs working, 1/2 of your ACs, and half of your other appliances. Trace and see where the power ends. Hope this is helpful.
  2. If memory serves me, those are the same tail light used by a Ford or Chevy pickup from about 2000. I can’t remember the year or model. Does anyone know.? I have been having an issue of the bulbs no longer being tight in the socket. Does anyone have a solution other than replace all the sockets?
  3. On my 2001 Dynasty, I thought one of the solenoids in the back panel was associated with the salesman switch at the front door and all the 12 volt inside the coach; the other one associated with the chassis. One potential source of the problem could be a bad ground wire to the left side. Have you looked at the wiring diagrams to see if left and right sides have different ground. Or take a piece of wire and put it from something grounded to the grounded side of one of the light fixtures that is not working.
  4. I replaced my window awning/slide out topper awning material a couple of years ago. Carefree had the material but I needed to have one arm replaced. They referred me to a small company that makes the arms. I don’t know whether they make the anti-billow ratchet or not. Carefree might be able to tell you. Incidentally, if I had it to do over, I would take the combos down and install separate window awnings and slide out toppers. There were good reasons Monaco went away from the type we have.
  5. You did not mention whether the AH tank (not the expansion tank) is full of anti- freeze when cold. Also whether the AH has had a normal service of the diesel heater. If the tank is full when cold, it pretty well has to go to the expansion tank if the unit is heating up to the proper temp. Also you did not mention whether the tubes going to all three of the heating sections are hot when the unit is up to temp. If they are really hot and the fans or operating, then it may be the radiator units. My guess it is the AH itself.
  6. If your rig is set up like mine, when plugged into 50 amp (which is actually two separate 50 amp circuits), half of your 110 breakers are connected to one half of the 50 amp system and half to the other. Several years ago several of my breakers had no power. In that case one of the two black wires in the cable between the coach and shore power had broken—thus no power to one air conditioner and the other breakers served by that side of the 50 amp system. It may not be your problem but make sure you have power to both sides of the system.
  7. Reference the comment about draining and purging the lines. After learning the hard way, I have had both an Aqua Hot rep and an Aqua Hot trained mechanic tell me to fill the lines with RV antifreeze (pumping fluid until pink runs out each faucet, etc. and then drain the tanks but not the Aqua Hot and the lines. If drained, under the right conditions condensation can cause enough water to form at a low spot in the lines inside the unit, cracking a line when it freezes. I would check with Aqua Hot before using drain and purge.
  8. I am pretty sure that on my 2001 Dynasty. There are separate pumps/lines to the bathroom. They have a single thermostat with 2 zones. I can’t remember, are there on/off valves for each of the 3 zones? If so make sure all are open. When underneath at the unit, can you feal/hear the pumps for the other zones but not one to the bath? If so it is likely the pump.
  9. You need to ask aqua hot whether it is OK to have the coils empty. An aqua hot rep and my service person says water lines should be filled with RV antifreeze to prevent condensation causing freezing and then busting coils. With lines full, he said there is no problem turning it on for the heat. I learned this the hard way. Other models may be different.
  10. Might test straight from a 12 v battery first. Also might want to just use the red or yellow but not both.
  11. A couple of years ago on a very hot day I had heat issues on mountains with my 2001 Dynasty—had never had them before. Turned out part of the radiator complex was bad. Cummins recommended replacing both radiators because of age (less labor cost to do both at same time). Have not had a problem since even pulling a Silverado with Polaris Rzr in the bed.
  12. If it is set up like me 2001 Dynasty, start back at the main electrical panel (passenger side rear) and check voltage on each side of the chassis and coach cut off switches. Then go to the front electrical panel and see in you have voltage at the nuts where electricity enters that compartment. Large cable carries power from rear to front and on mine I lost all chassis power when one of those nuts became lose. May or may not be your issue..
  13. Thanks to all for some really good answers. Have always been curious about this.
  14. Were the ones mentioned sister models (same chassis and essentially the same Motorhome except for slight style and trim differences) as is the case with Wenebago and Itasca, Or are they completely different Motorhomes but roughly equivalent in level?
  15. Monaco did lots of documentation but just has back to 2000 on their website. You might call The current Monaco and ask them if the 96 material is archived. I have a 2001 38-ft Dynasty and have the Dynasty book, complete wiring diagrams, and booklets on all the installed coach equipment. Would be glad to help any way I can with a specific issue. Agree with the above comment about getting a diesel mechanic to see what is causing the starting problem and go over the chassis with you. If it has been well taken care of, the ‘96 should give you years of great service. Dynasty’s in those years were really well built.
