  1. I was just quoted a price of 3600 for Bridgestone 295/80/22.5 14 ply. Anybody had an experiences with these tires? Going on 2001 executive 43ds
  2. Is Transynd the only fluid you'd put in yours or would you opt for a different brand so long as it meets the specs?
  3. I'm a big "tool" guy. (Insert Tim Allen grunt) I love tools and being able to fix things myself. I'm looking to dedicate a toolbox bay in one of the cargo doors. I wanted some input from you guys on what "set up" you have. I'm going to tap into the air tanks for air tools instead of adding a compressor but I want a retractable hose reel for tires etc. Finding a toolbox big enough to have for this coach is going to be challenging.
  4. Just went through all the paperwork I have on this coach. I found a hard plastic card in the bottom of the paperwork file case ....."Ford keyless entry" permanent code......
  5. I'm in the process of changing all the fluids on my executive. $600 in filters and oil alone so far and I haven't started on the generator yet. Im tackling the transmission tomorrow. It shouldn't take more than a hour or so. Taking the pan down doesn't make sense at all. The two filter housings are hard to miss. I'm curious as to what they charge you for that mistake.
  6. I see on the schematics a switch but I don't know where that switch is at. I'll be playing "where's waldo" tomorrow.
  7. They're definitely lock actuators. I'll take a pick tomorrow.
  8. I have another question about keys for you guys. I still don't have keys for the lower bay doors and I had the back plastic plate off one today and noticed an electric actuator on the lock itself. I thought the wires going into the door were for the sensors for the slides. Apparently this coach has electric locks. How would you go about replacing that "key fob" for the locks? Would that even be possible ?
  9. Yea.....without knowing how these tires were taken care of , I'm gonna bite the bullet and replace all but the steer for the time being. The steers will go on the tag axle for a short time. Unless I come across a really good deal and I can afford all at one time, plus it's not gonna move more than 40 miles for at least 6 more months. I also want to put the monitors on them. I looked them up and compared to the cost of the tires ....4 or 5 hundred bucks to make sure I won't have a potential blowout is priceless.
  10. I agree. The steers look a lot better than the rest of the tires after I inspected them a little closer. I will do what you guys suggest and take the steer and put them on the tag and buy all new for the rest of them. Just a huge expense for me. And stay away from Goodyear? .......I hear bad things about doublecoin too
  11. Just checked my tires , all are Goodyear. 275/ 22.5 Steer dot - 3816 Rears dot - 1207 Tag dot- 1205 Looks like I'm gonna be buying tires in the near future. I will be moving her to a more suitable place to work on her in the next month or so. Maybe 40 miles.....I don't want to go much further because of the age of the rears.
  12. I knew you guys would know.....awesome!!! Not one locksmith in this area has ever even seen one with such a large rod.......no pun intended
  13. I'm having trouble finding someone to make keys for the battery compartment and front run bay. Does anyone know who manufactured these locks?
  14. Great video.....8k ??? Holy crap! I'll make a list of the tires and dot codes tomorrow. As far as weighing the corners? That'll be a learning experience. I won't be traveling too much until I get her back into shape. I've been around big trucks and truck cranes all my life and I'm not intimidated by driving her at all but I want her to be a safe vehicle not only for me but for other people on the road with me. She's been neglected for a while.
  15. I'm currently bringing an 01 executive back to life. Little by little I'm going through her and fixing all major concerns first. Complete fluid change on engine , Trans and generator are this week. I was thinking about the tires today. The coach only has 53k miles on it and this is just an assumption, but the tires look brand new but I'm sure they're more than 5 years old. Tires are a huge expense for me and I was wondering at what point are they just too old to get on the road even if they "look" good.
  16. The coach I just bought looks really rough on the front. The clear coat is peeling off pretty bad. I was talking to a guy who repaints these coaches and he suggested rhino liner......has anyone done this to theirs? I know once you do it.....there's no going back The rest if the coach looks pretty good for its age. They used really good paint on these things.
  17. Well, I did the same today. I got the old fluke out and started checking all my connections , voltages and resistances. I took the top cover off and checked connection at the board and found no voltage telling the starter to fire. I wiggled the K1 relay wires and K2.......boom 13.3 volts. She tried to start but didn't. I tried again a few minutes later and a little white smoke and boom!!! Running like a champ. This coach has been sitting for a long time and I know all the fluids and filters need to changed. Funny thing happened when it started too. Charging stopped for about 10 minutes then all of a sudden....started back. I'm trying to understand how everything works on this system.....you almost need to be an electrical engineer........ Thanks for all the help you guys give me.....I need it.
  18. Okay, good to know for future reference......I'm sure at some point in the near future I'll be doing the same to mine.
  19. A set of torque limiters and an impact make that job a quickie. Just curious , did the flange have groves on the inside?
  20. Anytime I start losing air pressure like that in a truck (I'm new to the RV world) I always do a brake pressure test. While stopped, apply the brakes and check to see if you have continuous air loss. If not , try adjusting the air governor. The long blast of air is the dryer releasing excessive air. It could also be stuck or in need of service.
  21. Should be 150-180 ft pounds 5/8 studs. Torque in a cross pattern too
  22. I've been doing some research and that's cheap compared to replacing the stator and rotor. This coach has been sitting a while and I have limited time during the day to work on it but little by little I'll figure it out. I have the original paperwork on it and all it says is contact cummins (onan) service......all I can see there is dollar signs floating out the window..... There must be a procedure somewhere to eliminate potential items without just replacing parts. I could only be so lucky for that to be all that's wrong with it. The unit has 900 hrs on it. Thanks for the pointer......I'll check that tomorrow. Is there no way to eliminate problems without calling cummins? Everything I'm reading.....just like you're saying, could be 15 different things causing it not to turnover.
  23. I've been trying to start this generator for a few days with no luck. From what I've been reading on the "code 45" ....it isn't good. Does anyone have any experience with this code? I have several electrical issues but I'm just taking them one at a time.
  24. Okay, I will recheck tomorrow. I also see where the engine needs to be off and the key on to extend slides. Hopefully that's the case. I think I have a few gremlins living in this coach. Thank you for all your help! The gauge said 10 volts at the time. But I had 12volts everywhere else. This what I've always heard referred to as a "weatherpak" connection
