  1. This is the first full weekend I've been able to work on my executive since I bought it a month ago. I knew the drive train was in really good shape with only 53k miles on it. After a few days of tinkering with the generator , she sprung to life and ran great. I was, and still a little concerned with the electrical part of the coach. I had my fingers crossed on the electrical system and the transfer switch since the cover was off of it when I bought it. After installing a new 50 amp outlet on the side of my house I nervously connected the coach to it and she started humming. I watched the house batteries go from 12v to 11v and everything shutdown. No ac voltage at all. I scrolled through my panel and turned on everything. I started checking voltage and breakers. Still nothing......showed no ac input on the readout. I let it sit for a few hours and ate lunch. When I started back on it, I reset the main in the bedroom. I hear "crackling" ....you know that unnerving electrical sound when a bad connection is sparking or jumping across two points? After about 20 minutes....everything popped to life all of a sudden. I couldn't believe my luck. Everything works. Heat pump ✔ Hot water ✔ Thermostat ✔ Invertor ✔ Transfer switch ✔ Heated floor!!! I'm a happy camper! I want to leave it plugged in for the week while I'm gone to work but I'm worried about that main breaker in the bedroom. Haven't had any problems but it just didn't sound good earlier .......hasn't done it since.
  2. Glad to see you're narrowing it down.....hopefully it's not the pump. 100 psi? Seems awfully low for that engine...
  3. And this is the invertor......xantrex Freedom sw / 3012
  4. This is what I have......esso. The only thing I know about these transfer switches is what I've read on posts here.
  5. I ordered my Toyo 144s 2 weeks ago from a commericial tire shop nearby and they came out of a warehouse in Arizona. Dot codes were 2921.......all 8 tires were close to 5k.....mounted , balanced, new stems and front end alignment. It stung a little but I know I'm not a rolling disaster waiting to happen......
  6. If you can check for fuel at the injectors you can eliminate the lift pump. Beyond that I can only guesstimate......I'd definitely check the fuel pressure relief valve at the end of the fuel rail......common problem on cummins engines. If the relief valve gets stuck open.....no pressure. That's the best case scenario.....
  7. Engine just quit?.....sounds like fuel pressure. Those engines require a lot of pressure. Without a scanner it's hard to pinpoint exactly what's wrong.
  8. The big red flag for me was the cover taken off the switch cover when I bought this thing. Of course when I bought it I had no idea what that switch was. I will post pictures tomorrow afternoon of the switch and the rear run boxes and maybe you guys can give me some advise on the good the bad and the ugly of what I have. The previous owner had already replaced the fridge with a Samsung and I actually took the plastic off the shelves....so it's brand new and never used.
  9. JD.....the coach looks great! I am just starting my process of getting my exec back on the road. The tires were one of my main concerns. I knew the drive train was in really good shape as was the generator..but what scares me is the electrical and water systems. Especially the electrical.....I'm almost positive everything except the invertor is original (found a receipt from 2017.....$3500). I finally had enough time and sleep to get her in my driveway this week and I will have access to all my tools. My question is ....for everybody that reads this.....what are my main concerns for the transfer switch if it's original? Also the I've read several posts about changing the battery isolators in the rear......electrical is my downfall.
  10. I agree. I've used adelmans.com for replacement engines before. They're high but beats the *ell out of labor costs for an inframe rebuild........3000.00 for a good used engine.
  11. Wow.......thanks!! Exactly what I needed
  12. This thread reminds me of Chryslers turbo encabulator video....... https://www.google.com/search?q=turbo+encabulator+video&oq=turbo&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j46i67i433j0i433i512j46i175i199i512j0i271.2103j0j9&client=ms-android-verizon&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#
  13. While I'm waiting on the tire shop to call me I've been looking for replacement springs for my large slide awning. I'm not sure of the manufacturer. The large awning on the passenger side is Girard bit I don't ha e any info on the other awnings. The two in the rear work fine but the drivers side will not retract on its own and I have to climb on top and roll it up by hand. I'm just assuming it's a spring broken. Anyone have any ideas of where to get parts for this?
  14. Just from my past experiences of being a mechanic, I never go below 1/4 of a tank. When you go below that the bellows of the tank will allow the water and other contaminates to be easily picked up into the system.Always keep a spare filter and a little extra diesel for such a problem. Not a bad idea to drain your tank every once in a while either.......gallons of hidden surprises in a 20 year old fuel tank. 😀
  15. I bought the same and paid 300 dollars more for alignment. I drove the coach 40 miles to the tire shop and left it today. I was as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. She didn't skip a beat though and I did notice on my GPS that I was going faster than the speedo indicated. Is that because of the tire size that's on it now? Goodyear 670s on it until monday....
  16. Nice set-up........Yea, my black and white camera and the crackling sound from my Sony have to go. I still have a few more important repairs first though.
  17. Just FYI. A leaking wheel seal will also trigger an ABS fault. It's worth a few minutes to inspect with a flashlight.
  18. Well, I bit the bullet today guys and did what I eventually thought was best for my safety and the safety of the folks on the road with me and purchased all 8 tires. I want to say thank you for all your input. Chris I strongly agree with 99% of your advise......but without input from other guys who have had more experiences buying tires than me , I wouldn't know where to begin. We all need a little help from time to time with wiser individuals. I also listened to Ivylog and his advise in purchasing tire monitors and the tire size.. I'm gonna be partaking in some distilled spirits tonight because the last time I lost this much money at one time, I was getting divorced.
  19. I have the same "speaker wire" just hanging in my battery compartment not hooked up.
  20. If it was the low air alarm.....hook it back up. See if while applying the brakes you have a steady loss of air.
  21. Ha.....that's who I called. They have a satellite shop in dalton. I appreciate everything you guys are teaching me. I've been around large equipment all my life but never really paid that much attention to the actual size and pressures of big tires. I just want the tires to be safe and correct for the weight of the coach. I still don't have an actual weight of the coach. I know the tag behind the drivers seat says 46k, but what is the effect of the tag on that rear axle weight and the tires. Right now....I have the pressure set at 30psi on the tag bags......I need to do more research on that.
  22. It's gonna be another week or two before I can get tires. I'm gonna study IvyLogs suggestion of 11r a little longer.. After that I should be ready to take her on her maiden voyage. As far as towing things.....Driving a Kenworth with 40k of counterweight or a 90ton truck crane through smackdab downtown Atlanta on those small streets isn't too nerve-wracking after 20 years.
  23. I have a 2016 GMC Sierra all terrain that I wanted to make my toad. I'm a newbie to this stuff so it kinda scares me a little to tow my nice truck when I have a "beater" (s-10) The coach came with all the equipment to tow with. A sterling tow bar and everything to hook to a vehicle ...... .......super nice shop JD
  24. Have you looked at the air drier itself? I'm not familiar with your particular coach but some air driers have a spin on filter mounted on top of it.
  25. That's for 6 from a wholesaler I know from the "trucking world". Seems awfully low to me and I'd have to drive 15 year old tires 20 miles down the interstate to the nearest shop. At that price I'll replace all I they're good tires. That's roughly 600 a tire mounted, balanced and installed. At 5k for all, I may just opt for that instead of worrying about the last 2 on the tag. Dot codes are last year
