  1. My solution to this problem is my OPINION due to experience. My flap didn't drag unless going into fuel stops etc. over sidewalks or such. How ever when releasing air to level had the flap dig into the soft ground and didn't swing, jammed against exhaust and broke a weld up by the turbo. When we got home from that trip that flap lay on the ground beside my shop until I sold that coach. The flap from my present coach stands in the corner of my shop since day one. The muffler on this coach has one of the clamps broken and is wired up and I have no doubt that came about the same way as my previous issue. Also in looking at many other coaches in parks, sales lots and online notice broken and cracked fibreglass on lower edges directly in line with this flap. The mudflaps that do the best job of stopping road spray are the individual ones behind each set of tires. Again that is my opinion, they look nice and are good advertising. Others say they kick up rocks and hit the toad, no experience but makes sense. Thanks for reading, Don
  2. Rick, Wilson is a major Reman electrical company, nationwide. I use to see there semi trucks everywhere in my travels.
  3. Jean do not clean that fitting while on the coach. Take it off and clean from the inside out or replace with a new one. Chances of blowing grit thru the air system are too great and could expand your problems. keep air systems clean. Good luck, Don
  4. To defeat the your problem of the steps going in or out just get them in the position you want and unplug the step motor. Plug back in when you want to reverse. ALWAYS keep hands a fingers out of the way to avoid injury. Good luck, Don
  5. I agree with Scott. You are in the NW and Tough Top are vinyl which are better in our wetter climate. They made mine on our former coach and I was very happy with their product. Very easy to install and keep clean. Great people to work with. Good luck, Don
  6. Doug I saw in an earlier post you had mentioned Motor Trucks in Mt Vernon. Someone had given you a long roundabout way to get there. Much shorter to route to get there and on back roads. However as the ferry docks in Bellingham there are 3 shops at least that should be able to help out. Motor Trucks has a dealership here as well as Pape Kenworth. There is also an independent shop Zender Truck Repair who the company I retired from used for things our shop couldn't do. All 3 are less than 8 miles no freeway driving from the ferry dock. Good luck and if you need other local info PM me as I am local to the area. Don.
  7. That reading was taken while motor was unplugged to make sure the switch was triggering a relay to send full voltage to the motor. I will attempt to check voltage when motor activated.
  8. Make sure you remind Harry that Friday afternoon is wine time on the porch for you and your wife Bill. My problem is the curbside bedroom slide doesn't want to come in. It will start for about an inch then becomes a two person job, one on the switch and I get my fingers behind the lip of the slide and pull. Once over the initial hump it comes in Ok. I have to access the motor from the wheel well and when checking the power at the connector it was 13.5 volts when in switch pressed. I am wondering if the motor is getting weak and needs replacement. Would you or Harry have any thoughts on this issue?
  9. djlgnd doubt that you will find much for aquahot help in Lillooet area but there is a repair guy out of Port Angeles WA who does mobile as well. You might be able to make a vacation out of it if needing repair as not that far for you. He has a youtube channel My rv works and shows how to service aquahot. My excellent appliance repair man in Mesa recommended him as close to me in Blaine WA. Also I can recommend Tedco RV repairs in Langley for service and parts. Good luck Don.
  10. For those of you that want to blame the truck driver you better go back and watch the video a few more times. He was in the left lane and was gaining quite quickly on the other RV in the left lane when the idiot in the RV tried to cut in front of him. The truck driver did swerve and obviously braked quickly or would have run over the sliding RV. In my career I had cars pull the same stunt many times cutting in front of the tuck too soon and almost catching the bumper including once when they di catch the bumper and ended up sideways in front of the truck. Not what you want to see when driving a cabover. in my opinion the RV'er was 100% to blame. Just my OP after 43 years and 3 to 4 million driving miles experience.
  11. I did cork in our 2001 Diplomat and we were extremely happy with it. I left the tile in the kitchen/bath and put cork in the living/bedroom. Carpet in the slide under the sofa and closet as no traffic and covered by the sofa. Cork was lock and click type 1'x3' planks. Not being a fan of moldings I ignored the claim of needing to leave up to 3/8" expansion space around the edge I fit to walls console etc. and just left to float but no movement area left. We loved it, quiet, warm, and easy to take care of. Just used aluminum trim pieces between tile and cork and same bullnose on stairs. rubber on treads and bradnailed cork on sides and risers. We live in the PNW and had no issues with expansion/contraction in the 7 years and 46000 miles we owned it. May do it again in our 2005 HR Imperial but don't know how it would play with a flush floor slide and potential marking from the slide coming in and out. They make cork now in basically and finish and color you want. Check out website for Icork. Good luck Don.
  12. I replaced the two slide toppers on my former 2001 Diplomat from tough top. Were recommended by The RV Geeks and they have a You Tube showing install. Tough Top was very good to work with and I was very happy with their product. Installed the bedroom cover by myself and had the wife help with the living room slide because of the length. Sold the coach but they still are looking and working well. Went with the white vinyl and found it easy to clean. Vinyl worked very well in the wetter PNW. Good luck if you choose to work with them.
  13. As a retired truck driver from BC Canada with 43 years and 0ver 3 million miles I have had this issue with both rusted and frozen brakes. What this person is suffering from is shoes rusted to the drum. You can hit the drum with a hammer, pry with a bar or release brakes and use power. With drums it is easier if you back up but will break loose by going ahead. No one here laying on their side or back under there coach and hitting the drum with a hammer is going to hurt the drum. Recommend when driving in heavy rain and just before parking gently apply brakes while under power until you feel them start to grab just to dry them out.
  14. Larry you are correct in the dangerous situation however it is not the caliper that is the brake pot that would require removal and replacement if it is the issue. I feel that is what you meant. Don.
  15. I doubt you have maxi brake on your steering axle unless previous owner screwed up. Easy to check just check the brake chamber size. Maxi pot is double the size of of a regular brake pot as it has the air side and the spring or parking brake side. If someone has installed the wrong pot on the steering axle you should remove as you don't want it to come on if air pressure gets low, will be very hard to steer. For those that say brakes don't want to release after sitting for a while it is likely the shoes have rusted to the drum.
  16. Doc, before tearing your smart wheel apart try turning off your engine brake and then setting your cruise control. My Imperial is set so if the compression brake is on the CC won't set or work but turn the engine brake off and the cruise can be set or used. Try this might be easier than pulling the wheel apart. Good luck, Don.
  17. I agree with David. Looks like surface rust, I would do as he says with the wire wheel and paint with POR 15. This is amazing paint, for those not aware of it get loose scale of and paint. Dry's like iron. I brush on, use cheap chip brushes from Harbor Freight so you can throw away. Word of warning, clean the channel where the lid seals when closing or you will cut the lid off to reuse the rest off the paint. That is how hard it cures. Good luck, Don
  18. Did you try NWRVsupply.com in Eugene Oregon. They list 21 transmission gauges on there site. Good luck.
