  1. This makes sense and will check it out. The way this trip is going I'm not very optimistic. God willing and the creek don't rise this will work. Thanks for the tip.
  2. To the best of my knowledge they didn't. The valve cover wasn't taken off, so maybe they have x-ray vision. I just frustrated. The mechanic said it should start with out the turbo, that is why he wants the location of the port. You would think for $2300 the would go a little deeper. I uploaded the paper work here https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/14hAoUhg-q3FDcM066VdwZSUli_MJzVJB . The people that have seen it seem to scratch there heads. Hope you can make sense out of it.
  3. I was asked for the GoFundMe link, I hadn't planned on posting it here, but here it is. https://www.gofundme.com/f/getting-out-of-everett?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1 Thanks. John Thought I would provide an update. Cummins has cameras, but of course they don't aim in the right direction. I contacted a Mobile Mechanic and he came out to look at the rig. He confirmed the turbo is out. Doesn't know why it won't fire. Does anyone know where the diagnostic port on a 97 Dynasty is located? The OBD2 plug on this rig is useless it only has 4 contacts in it. The mech. said it should be round with 6 contacts. Am calling Cummins to see if they know. We are making progress kinda slow, but progress. Now for something up beat. Met a Forum member, who lives here. Really nice guy and knows the area and offers his assistance. Doesn't feel so lonely now. Thanks Gary for being here.
  4. Go with Coach Net. We are on a trip from hell. Started out and blew the driver steer. Coach Net found me a set of Michelins over 100 mi away. They were brought to us and changed on the high way. About 6 days later we were headed to Portland and going up a grade and the engine quit. We go towed to Everett, WA. A tow to a Cummins dealer. of over 125 miles. They do all the work and or problems aren't over, but it sure isn't Coach Net's fault. As of right now they are the only thing that went right on this trip. I guess you could say I recommend them highly. You can read about our trip on this forum. Keep smiling.

John Ivylog. Cummins is closed for the weekend, you can bet I'll be there B and E Monday. Bob. Sad to say it's the truth, wish it wasn't but life keeps on going.

  7. Update: I'm looking for a second opinion on the engine. All of the calls I have received are pretty much people wanting it for nothing, very disheartening. Now for the update, when you think thing couldn't get any worse, you would be wrong. Yesterday I was showing the bus to a guy and noticed someone had been in the bus. We got robbed. Took all kinds of stuff, mostly electronics. I could have lived with the loss but on further examining, they took a pair of my cowboy boots and the Biggy my wife's mobility scooter. Apparently this thief isn't big on old people having transportation. I meet with the police to day to file a report. I have notified my insurance company. I was doing fine up until this part. I just want to get out of this town! I even went so far as starting a Go Fund Me Page. If you find these post depressing, let me know and I'll stop and wait for when I have rainbows and unicorns.
  8. Apparently when it goes it keeps going for a bit allowing air into the engine. The cylinders fill with fuel causing a thing called hydraulics, screwing up the top end and valves.
  9. Started on the 12th of October. We left Missoula, MT. Tooling down the road and blew the drivers front tire. Kept it on the road and boy was it noise. Only real damage was a front quarter nocked loose and a bent exhaust pipe on the generator. After a 6 hour wait, we got 2 new Michelin tires (from over 100 mi away). After spending a week near Seattle, we were headed to Portland to visit our grand daughter. About a 125 mi. we were climbing a slight grade and she just shut down. Thanks to Coach Net (again there arranged the tire change). We got towed to the Cummings dealership. Great people, they started on it first thing in the morning. Apparently the starter had a short in it. This morning I get THE call. They figure the turbo shaft broke and blew the engine. Now we are stuck in Everett, WA with a big boat anchor. Anyone know of a place around Seattle that would like to have it. As costly as the diagnosis was the people at Cummins Sales and Service in Everett, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the.
  10. In my 97 Dynasty the odometer and the trip meter are in the same interment. There is a button to switch between them. The trip works great, I have calibrated it a number of times. The odometer on the other hand is extremely lazy. Logs about 1/10th of the miles. Getting ready to head South, I will try and compare the readings.
  11. I have he same problem. The trip mete works just fine. The Odometer seems to only to register about a 10th of the miles.
  12. Cool post, glad you got it fixed and thanks for the information. I had my bus move at the storage place to do some work on it. I got a call saying it wouldn't start. I had to go to the storage area and figure it out. I just put in new batteries, so was confuse. The place had 3 guys working on it and nothing. All the switches were on. I looked at the rear start an it was switched to the rear. Flipped the switch and it started with maybe 2 revolutions. Had 3 embarrassed lot guys and a good laugh. Apparently one of the got switch happy.
  13. Ivylog I don't have a clue how hot these run, never thought of it. I'm sorry I don't have an IR meter. They just seem to work and I love the brightness. Good luck and let me know how they work for you.
  14. I replaced all of my fluorescents with LEDs Did the whole bus for the cost of 2 sets of bulbs. Much brighter. Tried the strip lights and found them lacking. Then I tried the auto park lights. They were so bright I used the switch on the fixture to turn on and off half of the LEDs, for atmosphere. All you have to do is eliminate the ballast. 4PCS 12V LED STRIP DRL DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS FOG COB CAR LAMP DRIVING WHITE US _ eBay.html
  15. Most fuel caps are vented. If they are air tight, the tank will collapse as the fuel is used up. I know because it happened to me.
  16. You sure they are 24v? My bus has 2 12 volt 4D battery's and the are big hummers. 115 lb each.
  17. I agree with Woody. I got my 97 4 year ago $8000.00 as is. I have been through it front to back. So far I have spent $70.00 in shops. Broken link on the pump on the Gen slide. All the other problems I fixed myself, some parts here and there I look at it as maintenance. Mechanically the running gear is sound. Been to Oregon, California, Arizona, Idaho. Averaging 12 mpg. Done some up grades and wouldn't buy a newer coach. These older ones are built to last and the systems aren't as high tec as the new ones. Anything high tec I put in myself. Still some things I need to do, but enjoying the journey.
  18. Cool! Welcome to the world of DIY motor homing. First thing, is see if you can find he manuals for your bus. I was lucky and got 2 complete set with mine. I posted them on this site. Slow down and take your time. There is help a plenty out there and don't be afraid to ask questions. good luck. Just_John 97 dynasty 40'
  19. Dynasty owners are always left out. We are nice people, really. 1997.
  20. When I need to do some touch up on my rig, I'm going to use NAPA Auto. They can match the color and put it in a rattle can.
  21. Do you have a wiring diagram from Monaco. I have a complete set for my 97 Dynasty and Monaco was very good at labling the wires and there connections. My manuals are loaded in the file section, give that a try. Good luck.
  22. Gee, my 97 Dynasty princess doesn't float. Must be a newer model?
  23. I have the same problem on my 97 Dynasty. From what my research came up with is we are SOL. I haven't checked my engine compartment yet to see if I can locate a plug. If you find the answer please let me know. Thanks.
  24. I went to replace my backup camera and found the cable that ran to it consisted of 5 pairs. Not only did I change out my camera, I Added 3 more. I have found that Monaco was big on over wiring their coaches. Apparently they wired all of the coaches the same. My drawings are very accurate, if a wire is orange in the front it is orange in the back. I was pleasntly surprised to find it was even prewired for solar. I would keep looking at what is hooked up and if an item needs 2 wires and the cable looks oversized, maybe it haves more to offer. Just my 2 cent. Just_John 1997 Dynasty. 40' 2006 Jeep Cherokee.
