olywrestle
Any recommendations on the grease for the slack adjuster? My manual just says clay-based lubricant for them. No idea what was last used...
96 EVO
Greased mine just yesterday. I've been using Lucas Red n Tacky grease for several years. https://www.lucasoil.com/product/red-n-tacky-grease/
olywrestle
That's lithium based, my guide says Clay based. Has lithium progressed since 2006 that it could be used instead of the clay based?

He'll look at you like you have two heads 😁!
Ivan K
My Meritor brakes also call for clay base and I used their brand grease, pretty pricey, there are probably cheaper alternatives
96 EVO
Ahh. You found the elusive 'clay based grease' 👍!
Ivan K
I don't remember if these specifications bring any alternative results, the meritor tube is like $50 but it does all 4 corners and I spent too much on hardware to take a chance
96 EVO
I only have disc's on the front, and the calipers are sealed ☹️!

The Bendix/Spicer slack adjusters on my coach only say not to use a grease containing Moly-disulfide. I use a synthetic lithium grease for all grease fittings on my coach. olywrestle
Thanks all for the replies. I apparently have conflicting info in the guide. One page says NLGI #2 Lithium The other page has CBL, which in the manuals decoder is stands for Clay Based So now I am even more conflicted on which direction to go! A team of sherpa's must have climbed high in the Himalaya's to fill that tube for ya 😂! 1
