  1. I would also recommend Mackin's in Oregon. We had our rear cap and top rails re clear coated and they look great for a reasonable price.
  2. Thank you so much for the information Moonwink! That makes it clear. I appreciate it.
  3. First of all, I am not trying to argue at all. I am frustrated with DirecTv and trying to figure out what to do. My Winegard Traveler is too old to be converted to Dish, so I would be looking to replace it entirely, with either a Winegard or an RF Mogul. I am really trying to get some info. If for whatever reason you think I am arguing I apologize.
  4. So the RF Mogul handles Dish differently than Winegard? How would I determine which group of satellites I would want? Then I suppose you mean when I buy an RF Mogul let them know which LNBF I need? Why would they have east and west arcs if both work all over the entire country? I am totally ignorant of Dish. I had Dish many years ago with DNS, but they broke the rules and were not able to offer it, very similar to what is happening now. That's when I gave up on Dish and went to DirecTv. And I absolutely don't remember anything about east and west arcs, but that was even before HD.
  5. Yes we have all but ABC and CW.
  6. So, in any given year as we travel around, many years spending time in Maine and New England, then out to our western haunts, Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and New Mexico before going back to Florida for the winter, I would need to change the LNBF and reprogram depending on where we are? Wow. I guess for now, especially since Direct has everything back except for ABC, we'll stick with them as much as they have gone downhill.
  7. I also wanted to tell everyone that I installed Paul's module today and it was an easy replacement and it works fantastic. It is a quality product that works flawlessly and want to thank him for doing this for all of us who want to stay with our Sealand toilets. He has resurrected them. The additional extension he included made it a piece of cake, although on our coach the power source wire is just as short and that connection was the only challenging issue. Thanks again Paul for providing us with a welcome and professional product!
  8. I don't want a portable antenna. But thanks.
  9. What about the issue of East and West arc on Dish? It seems from what I can learn if I spend my time or have a service address say in Denver I would get West arc, but would I be able to get Dish in northern or eastern Maine?
  10. We have gotten back everything but ABC as of last night. Hopefully they can fix it. Our Winegard is too old to change over to Dish so it would mean a new antenna as well as all components. Fingers crossed.
  11. We are considering moving to Dish. We had Dish years ago until they messed up their ability to offer DNS, then we switched to Direct, but now since it seems only Dish is open to allowing and making it fairly easy to change service addresses so you can get locals make them look a little more useful. If congress doesn't act and I sure don't expect it DNS is dead for all.
  12. If you follow your city water hose from the reel if you have one to where the water pump tees off, it should be in the city water line before the water pump. If there wasn't a check valve in there somewhere then every time you would turn on the water pump water would flow out the hose. It has to somewhere, maybe integral to the city water hookup. And as to Moonwink, I know many campgrounds ask for or provide a back flow preventer at the hookup, but personally I would love to see how a water pump in a coach would overwhelm city water pressure??
  13. I have a city/tank valve mounted in my wet bay as well. It is right on the face of the panel. I replaced the original city/tank valve with a positive ball valve about 10 years ago. I still don't think that valve is your problem.
  14. I don't know why it happens so often and sporadically. Sometimes I go for 7-8 months with no problem then I seem to replace it twice in another couple months. On our coach it is a cheap plastic check valve in which the rubber O-ring that seals the valve gets jammed up or gets moved out of place. On our coach you can crawl in the basement compartment just ahead of the plumbing bay, slide open the access panel and I can reach in and get to it. It is located behind my water pump and beside my water hose reel, and it is connected with easy to turn without tools PEX fittings with wings. The one sure sign that the valve has gone bad is when I disconnect the city water, water flows out of the end of my hose. Also I have noticed it being bad when all of a sudden the water flow inside the coach seems low. I can't get you a picture right now, sorry.
  15. It is most likely a bad check valve, and it would be so much better if you said what coach model and year you have. I replace my check valve often, on our coach it is a cheap plastic valve. I carry a half dozen with me at all times and am able to replace it in about 3 minutes without tools. I would look there first.
  16. I will be anxious to hear what comes out in this. We have had DNS a long, long time. Way back when Dish lost the ability to offer it, we switched to Direct and have been with them for many years. We travel almost continuously and if Direct won't offer local changing then unfortunately we will have to move to Dish. And wow, we have whole month:-)
  17. I am not sure the email is real. I searched my account on DirecTv, looked for any information on their site, nothing there. I googled loss of DNS, networks on DirecTv, etc, and found nothing. I am certainly hoping this is just a scam email. Time will tell.
  18. I won't be at the gathering, but would be very interested in info on your new replacement. Bill B2
  19. If you slow down first and select a lower gear, you won't have to hit your brakes at all. I can come down Teton Pass, 10% grade in 2nd or even first and touch my brakes, and that's with my 46,000# rig towing a 5500# truck. My Jake is programmed to go to third, but on many steep descents it is necessary to manually shift down. My Jake kicks it into 4th gear and stays there, if I want to keep the RPM below 2000, I have to keep stabbing the brakes over 50 mph. Ben is right about most semis just passing me on the way down. Must be ok with manual shift, obviously. Going south from Flagstaff is a long descent and I have seen trucks with red hot brakes and one with a wheel on fire taking an exit few miles after he passed me. Stabbing the brakes for a short time to slow down is what they teach for CDL air brake test that is mandatory in TX.
