  1. Mike I think there is only one ECM. it is on the side of the engine Post a picture of those connectors They are a 2 pin. Triangular. Did you find the one by the compressor? Did you see the grounds on the frame. There are 2 or 3. They hsve to be super clean. Do a Google for J1939 problems . Also search for the wording you posted about losing communications try goohle and then search the Irv2 Cummins forum and the Monaco forum. Where are you located?
  2. Was the connector onthe roght side covered with electrical tape? Did you unplug the connector? Were the pins loose? I have read where the pins were not well connected to the wires. Can you follow either end of the wires to the next connection? You could spray the make and female ends withcontact cleaner and resest them tightly. I mnot a big fan of piercing the wires to check continuity. Maybe domeone else has an idea.
  3. Yes it is one of those Deutsch connectors. Did you find any of them. They will all be the same triangular shape. The wires are only 18 or 20 gauge and are fragile. I think the heat bothers them. I know there is another connector on a bad spot Of you open the rear hatch it is on the left side wayback between the turbo pipe and the compressor. I think you would have to remove the pipe for access Did you find the connector on the right side upper frame rail?
  4. Mike. I was going through some old information and found a post where one owner found a corroded connector close to the compressor. It goes to the ecm. You need to find all the connectors and check them. It is alot of work but beats spending $5000 at some shop. There probably is a way of checking those connections with an ohmeter but you might have to disconnect the ecm Did you look for a wiring problem in the armrest area?
  5. Good MEL. I disagree. The Yahoo format was always horrible As time went on it got worse. Lots of good information but difficult to navigate Posters tended to be brief and the info was scattered. Was not the fault of the forum owners. All Yahoo forums were similar The new forum is super Tom. Good tip. I usually take pictures.

  7. Thanks for the help. This forum is quickly becoming the go to for Monaco owners. It is about 18 degrees outside and snowing so I cannot check out the dimensions. Maybe tomorrow afternoon. Thanks again.
  8. I need both gas struts for my 08 Dynasty. I have seen part numbers for other models but they list 150 lb. Struts. Infortunately mine have nothing printed on the strut. I did nottake measurements but the piston diameter is about the same as my cabinet struts. I can match the collapsed and extended lengths but need the "lb" rating. The mechanism is very complex with lots of mechanical advantage. Any help appreciated.
  9. Rv service reviews sounds like a good idea but it is useless. Many of the listed shops are out of business. Most only have one or two review sand they are outdated. W aste of time Asking at a cg office is a good idea.
  10. I was using my phone when I posted and I have big clumsy fingers. It is a J1939 protocol/ The wiring from the ECM is on the right hand frame rail near the top. Sort of above the DPF. There are a bunch of wire bundles covered with plastic loom. The grey connectors are usually covered with electrical tape. When Jason was still at Monaco he told me to look there first as they had reports of that connector being a problem. But there are others as well. In the basement ceiling the computers for the ABS and The Allison are part of that harness. I think everything is daisy chained. I think there is another connector close to the turbo. The whole system is ill designed. OTR trucks also use that protocol but the harness is very short. When truck shops have a problem sometimes they just change the harness. Cheaper that spending 2 days looking for the problem. Did you clean all the battery terminals. You want them to shine like a copper kitchen item!! There are other battery cable connectors on the walls of the battery compartment. Look inside that armrest for blue crimp connectors. They can be bad. If you go to IRV2 do a search for j1939 or no data. Others have had that problem. Have fun Hypoxia. I think the dash unit is by Medalion. A little different. Hard to find but a good electronic tech can fix them.
  11. You may have a bad connection in theCAN communication from theECM. This is the j1g939 protocol. Monaco had some problems withthe way they ran the wiring. The 2 wires are bundked with other wiring. They use Deutsch connectors. These are small supposed to be weatherproof connectors. Grey triangular shape They run from the right rear all the way to the front. Sometimes moisture rusts the small pins . You eill find them amongst the wire bundles on the right frame rail. But I would start with cleaning all your battery terminals They should be shiney!! Then find all the ground connections . Most are onthe frame rail. Tajethem apart and brush them clean. On my Dynasty there is an ecm fuse in the rear run bay One owner found a rusty fuse holder. Be aware that if you have ashop do the work you could easily spend $5000 and the problem would still exist. On the Dynasty there are also connectirs in one of bays behind the bay ceiling. On my unit the dash wires go to the driver armrest. When your dash goes crazy the ECM may put you in limp mode.Hope this helps.
  12. It is near impossible to get an electric fan that will cool a 400 HP engine. Do a Goggle for the amount of cfm Cummins requires. Then do a Google for the electric fans that produce the required CFM. You would need a larger alternator and room for multiple fans. You gain nothing. There is a reason why the higher end coaches have either a Hydraulic fan o a belt driven unit. Prevost has gone to an electric system but it is 24 volt and requires a cioputer and lots of room for the multiple fans.
  13. Hi: I have searched but do not see anyway to add photos. Do I use a hosting site and insert the URL? Thanks Brucce 2008 Dynasty
  14. Thanks for the link Gary. I will try to add a photo but on the Dynasty the big boy is mounted in the rear run bay. The bird is a board. I think it is intellitec. There are 2 other solenoids mounted next to the big boy. Lots of wires. When i have some time i will post my current (pun) problem with the house charging. It is very wierd.
  15. Gary. Thanks. I went to his list of posts but nothing older than Jan.13 is shown? Bruce 08 Dynasty
  16. Our 08 Dynasty has the Big Boy but the controller is a board in the rear run bay. I would love to upgrade to the Blue Sea unit. How do I accomplish this? Thanks Bruce
  17. been driving with furnace on for almost 50 years. Never a problem.
  18. Chris: Why is the coolant level gauge mounted at the side of the tank? I will double check later today but it would be very hard to read. Shouldn't the site glass be at a higher level? I know Bob Nodine likes to use the older style AF but I switched over to the long life coolant years ago. If one is anal about checking with strips the Old fashioned stuff is fine. If not you can destroy the liners. At one time OAT was hard to fund but now it is everywhere. Even at Wal Mart. Cost is about the same as regular diesel AF. Once and done!
  19. Ron: Do you sell LED bulbs? Do you have a website that shows what is available? Thanks
  20. My BIL had a 45 player in his car. I think it was mounted on some sort of gyro. You could play them while going down the road. My wife still has a cassette player!!!
  21. The Femco unit is far superior. Not made in China. Used to be imported from Sweden and now made in Canada. It is a real machined piece. Used by many truck fleets. Not cheap but worth it. I have had one on every RV I have owned for more than 20 years.
  22. This is great. I never liked he Yahoo format. You have done a great job.
