  1. The rear monitor works but shows av2 and no signal. The front monitor does have sound but no video. The only video options are on the monitor. Input camera or input aux. No video either way. O removed the top of the panel that houses the joystick. Nothing disconnected. Under the top of the dash there is a junction box with rca jacks. Wires marked audio, power and video. I unplugged and then reattached but still nothing I really do notwantto empty bay 3 and drop the ceiling. I have done this a long time ago and it is not fun Tha alladin joystick beeps whenever it is toggled. I can toggle the sound off and on. Cannot get to the menu . When I use the turn signal there is no video. Thanks
  2. The noise I heard is static. I can toggle front joystick and turn the sound off It is video that I am not getting
  3. My 08 Dynasty has an Alladin system. It has always worked properly The monitor is a Sony. The Alladin does not have a joystick. It is more like a firestick with a center select button surrounded by a 4 directional ring. The monitor also is connected to the camera . I started the mh today and there is no display on the screen. The green power light is on. Normally you get a menu and can toggle to display engine info. Moving the Alladin button gives me beeps but nothing happens. I checked 2 Alladin fuses in the FRB and they are fine. If I turn up the volume on the monitor I hear noise I turned off all the power at the batteries and then back on. Nothing. I tried using the turn signals as that would trigger one of the cameras. Nothing I took off the small dash panel. Cannot see much but I wiggled some wires. Nothing. I have not opened up thepanel beside the driver to see if something is disconnected. I would remove the Sony monitor but cannot determine how to do this. All the dash gauges work as well as the factory centre display on the dash. According to my notes the Alladin module is in the ceiling of bay 3. Any help appreciated. We are supposed to head south this week and I really need to have that system working. .
  4. There is a lesson in this thread. Stay away from Cummins unless it is warranty. Freightliner is just as bad.
  5. Weak radiators are not limited to Monaco products. They are all the same. Class 8 truck owners complain about short rad life.
  6. We have a 2008 Dynasty with a house only multiplex. Inellitec. Your frb. is nothing like mine. My compartment walls are covered with fuses ,relays computer boards and more.
  7. As Tom has posted you must insulate the original vent door or make a new one. The problem with making a new one is that it has to be painted. On our Dynasty it is at least 3 colors. Swoops. A body shop would charge about $500. It is not complicated except making square holes for those cheap plastic inserts that turn to lock it in place. . One could use simple turn type compartment locks as they use a round hole. I have seen other residential installations and I think Monaco did a good job. When my fridge died, I installed a new Jenn Air and used the same mounting method. But I did add 2 angle brackets at the bottom front of the fridge. The original fridge had a rear access panel that you could reach by removing the outside rear"door". A few Robetson screws and you could see the guts of the fridge. My new fridge requires you to either pull the fridge or move it forward. I was thinking of making a wooden platform for my wooden appliance mover that would be the exact height. I think the most important decision when changing over to a residential fridge is the brand choice. I understand that the Samsungs are a great fit but they are probably the worst appliances in the marketplace. It is too bad that Dometic or Norcold do not make an electric fridge that fits
  8. The op has one of the infamously Force engines. There are problems with the emission systems specific to the Maxforce. You might try posting your problem on IRV as there are Maxforce owners that understand that engine who frequently post.
  9. Yes those weatherpak connections were really not signed to be connected and disconnected frequently. I have new spare pigtails and just cut and solder to the cable. When we had a Tacoma I installed the solenoid under the front seat. In the Silverado it is installed under the dash between the bucket seats. Hidden by the hump storage box.
  10. We still use the no longer available US Gear Unified Tow Brake. Nothing to connect inside the toad. Plug in the 2 wire cord to the toad and connect the bakeaway cable. IMHO the best system ever manufactured. When parts became hard to find I bought a new in the box system and 2 used as is. I have lots of spare parts.
  11. There have been a nber of discussions on IRV about Blue Ox. I always read them I am far from being an engineer. Tow Bars are under a lot of stress. When you turn a corner or pull out to pass on the freeway the tow bar has to handle that force. IMHO tow bars do mot have an infinite life. Sure you can replace some of the parts. But the bar itself maybe weak. The op did not state the age of that bar. I would throw it in the trash. That bar could break and your toad could cause an accident and kill someone. Blue Ox gets a lot of flack. But we do not know the history of a f ailed unit. Maybe an owner backed up and the wheels on the toad locked up at an angle.aybe an owner turned too sharp. Maybe another had an inoperable toad braking system. Or no toad brake. We started with a custom made bar. Then we had one of those folding bars. But we were towing compact cars. Finally we had our first Blue Ox. Ot was OK but if the toad was not straight unhooking was difficult. We were at Q and bought a newer model. It worked well for many years. Every time we were at Q Blue Ox did the inspection and replaced necessary parts. 2 years ago one of the bar lock/unlock levers broke on the way to Q. Blue Ox would not work on it due to age. I ordered a new one. Just another expense. No different than replacing old tires with over 75% tread. My 2 cents worth
  12. Looking at that tow bar it is way past it's expected life. I would guess 10 years old. If so forget repairs and buy a new unit.
  13. I should add that I really would like to install the Blue Sea system. However I have not figured out how to get a wire from underneath into the dash area. The carpeting is attached to plywood and covers the bottom of the firewall. Maybe behind the front drawer? I have also not checked to see if there are empty tubes that are supposed to be underneath.
  14. 6 hours ago I started working on the problem. Checked the Big Boy and checked the small relays. Everything seemed ok but still discharging. Finally decided to replace the B.I.R.D b board. It is in the rear run bay and tucked away almost behind the tail light. I remembered when I replaced that board. I am working outside and the mosquitoes are having a feast. I removed the board but the install is tricky. I have magnetic socket bits in my shop in Mexico but here I had to use masking tape to hold those tiny machine screws. I had to unplug the engine board just above the Intellitec board. The engine would not start and gave me a com failure. Removed and reinstalled the connector and fired up the Dynasty.. WOW. it is charging!! I can even hear the Big Boy humming! pic is attached showing the break in the board. It could be repaired. M& M wanted $420.00 plus shipping to repair! I am sure glad I bought that board when Northwest was selling them for about $100.00. Thanks for all the help
  15. Thanks Frank. The big boy contacts are clean. I tested it before installing. Voltage on both side. I will check it with engine running. Both battery switches are on. I will do some checking again. Does the Bigboy come into play when running on shore power or genset? The problem only exists while the engine is running. No 110 connection. But hitting the battery boost charges the house batteries.
  16. We did not use our unit during the pandemic. It was in storage . When the border opened we left for Mexico without doing some required repairs. While in Mexico health issues prevented me from repairing an issue with battery charging. But without the generator Alladin was showing a discharge on the house batteries. Usually around 20 amps. I knew the Bigboy relay needed attention. I replaced the relay about 9 years ago . I rebuilt the spare and installed yesterday. Same problem but the discharge is 6 amps. I let the engine run for around 15 minutes and nothing changed. Voltage on both sides of the big boy . Voltage at the 2 small relays. On the 08 Dynasty Monaco used an electronic board to control the charging. It is an Intellitec "B.I.R.D but an open board. Before I replaced the original Bigboy years ago I installed a new board. I did some checking yesterday and here is what I found. Engine running: chassis batteries 13.8 volt on Alladin, House batteries 12.5 volts 6 amp discharge. If I hit the battery boost the house batteries show a charge of about 35 amps The Intellitec board shows the following: Green light marked " battery disconnect on" is not lit Green light marked "battery disconnect off" is not lit Green light marked "Iso relay on" is not lit Red light marked " 7.5 amp pcb power" is lit Red light marked "7.5 amp battery dom" is lit At the bottom of the board there are 2 lights The yellow light marked " Battery disconnect switch" is not lit The green light is marked on the circuit board. States" ISOL lockout". It is lit. I have the original Intellitec board. It may be OK . I have not tried replacing the board but wonder if something else is causing my problem. Any help appreciated. Thanks
  17. Old trucker tips are just that: OLD. Today's Diesels are nothing like a 30 year old vehicle that is mechanical. A typical OTR truck engine will go way over 500 , 000 miles before needing an inframe. Although they may have other problems with pollution eqpt. There is no data showing that ATF helps lubricate your injectors ATF contains a mild abrasive for the clutches. Should never be added to your fuel.
  18. It is2008 all over again. The rv factories were pumping out units as if there was no end. Then came the bankruptcies Could happen again
  19. I went through a com problem with our 08 Dynasty. Spent over $1500 at an FL dealer and git nowhere. I was at Massey in Phoenix and they gave me heck for dirty battery connectors. I was told they have to be shiny. My problem was intermittent. I returned to my shop in Mexico. All was good. But I was concerned the problem would return. Removed and cleaned a bunch of frame grounds. That was years ago and the problem never returned. Monaco tech ( he was an electronics expert) said there have been problems with the Deutch connectors. Often it is one that is bundled with a mess of wires on the RH frame close to the rear run box. I did find it and it looked OK. But I gave it a dose of contact cleaner. I have read that the pins in those connectors can be loose. Never take this problem to an RV dealer. OTR trucks are easy to fix. They look fir a bad connector or wire. If thst does not work they install a new harness. In our unis the harnesses are custom. Another spot for a problem is in the drivers side console that has the shifter. I am told that Cummins that was across from the Old Monaco factory is familiar with that problem.
  20. Our 08 Dynasty came with a Jenn Air residential fridge. No roof vent. Wall vent has a solid removable door. It is painted with all the swoops. Makes it easier to service the fridge. The outside wall is insulated the same as the rest of the unit.
  21. Garmin gets their GPS data from a mapping company. Sometimes I have seen the name of that service on certain gps units. Rand Mcnally has a new provider. But often the data is at least a year old. If the data provider has info from a road that had detours due to construction that data will remain. The info is not perfect. You need to verify if uncertain. Even Goggle maps has some bad data. For 3 years they send people in one Canadian city down an unfinished country road. Some gps complaints are due to the owner not changing his settings. You can have the unit not send you on a ferry. Or stay on major roads. Even avoid freeways and toll roads. Google maps is great if you are in your toad. But their software does not allow you to avoid residential streets.
  22. I had the 780 and think it is second class. Quite different than the larger units. I bought it when my 770 ( the best ever) went bad. Fooled around with the dead unit and called Garmin. They sent me a replacement n/c. I sold the 780
  23. Someday one of the B schools will do a paper on the bankruptcy. If this were a vehicle mfr. things would have been different, Without bringing up some of the wounds we all suffered the whole thing "stunk". I still believe that Navistar and Monaco colluded to make sure that no one other than them received anything! Before the bankruptcy Navistar had a person on the Monaco board. I was lucky that I had some warranty repairs done at Guaranty. Monaco could not supply parts as the suppliers were owed a lot of money. However some of them shipped the parts for warranty direct to the dealer. The bankruptcy Judge acted in a "strange" manner. Somehow after everything was approved Navistar found out that the purchase of Roadmaster was not part of the bankruptcy and Navistar would be liable for all warranty repairs. They went to the Judge and the "deal" was altered to include Roadmaster. Navistar paid very little for the whole Company. Finished and unfinished coaches and major parts were worth close to the whole amount paid. It seems that everything Navistar touched lost most of it's value. Think of Workhorse .When Rev bought Fleetwood they continued to offer Tech support and honored all warrantees. But when Rev took over Monaco things changed. None of this needed to happen. Monaco was a large Company and made some serious errors when the economy took a dive. They could easily have recovered. When you look at the quality of today's MH's and the high prices Monaco cold have outsold them all. End of Rant!!
  24. The Cummins shop gave you bad info. They work on any Cummins engine regardless of chassis mfr.
  25. Superb mods. Engineers will tell you that those air cleaners are hazardous for a diesel. Can do more harm than good.
