  1. I have a question relative to the brake test; what is the difference in doing the test with the engine on vs the engine off. If you hold the brake with the engine running and the compressor never kicks on, seems to me you can watch to see if you lose any air in the two minute span. Of course if pressure drops to where the compressor kicks on you know you got problems. I have performed the test both ways, never lost any air either way. So what am I missing??? Same with the spring brake. If engine is running and compressor doesn't come on and you don't lose any air other than what it took to release the spring brake the system should be good, correct?? I have an inquiring mind. Sorry if I have missed something obvious. Bob L.. 08 dynasty
  2. I had two Brake Buddy and both gave me trouble; I finally went with RVi3 and have no problems. Very easy to set up. I also have the 10000 lb tow bar and am pulling a 4,000lb jeep. Overkill but safe. Bob L, 08 dynasty
  3. Frank: when you say "unplugged the circuit board" is that simply disconnecting the two leads to the big boy. I see in the picture the green wire disconnected which I assume you disconnected. Bob L, 08 dynasty
  4. thanks Al; new project Bob L, 08 dynasty
  5. I have an unusual problem but similar to what has been discussed. My bathroom fan lid will open correctly, the fan will run like it is supposed to but when I turn the fan to "off" the fan will shut down but the lid will not close. However, if I reach up and remove the fuse, then replace it the lid will close. It has been driving me nuts for about 5 years. I replaced the control panel but no help. Is the circuit board that is referred to in this thread the same as the control panel or is it another board hidden away somewhere. D I have to remove the whole fan to get to it?? Thanks, Bob L, 08 dynasty
  6. Ouch; I see what you mean. too cold for me. If your inverter/charger is working (i.e. charging your house batteries and not the chassis batteries then, yes, the big boy/bird would be the logical problem. However, if your alternator is not charging then that would be a different problem. A separate check of the alternator would answer that question. I may be oversimplifying but at least you have some options to check; BUT not in that weather. Bob L, 08 dynasty
  7. Seems to me if your batteries are not charging from the engine alternator, the big boy/bird relay has nothing to do with it. The engine alternator charges your chassis batteries directly; I would check the alternator first. Just my humble opinion. Bob L, 08 dynasty
  8. Bob: I had a similar problem and it was the ride height adjuster that was leaking. There is only one adjuster for the front air bags and if it is leaking, then the front bags should deflate evenly. Just a thought. Bob L, 08 dynasty
  9. Thanks Tom; I will have to change my steer tires next summer and would love to find someone who knows Tyron Bands to do it. I live south of New Orleans and unfortunately no one in this area knows anything about them. I used Alliance four years ago and they were equipped to do it and were familiar with them. Don't know about today after Lazydays took over. I don't mind running down to Florida (or anywhere reasonable) to put new tires as long as I can find someone who knows Tyrons. Bob L
  10. Bob Nodine mentioned tire tools that Bill G has; not sure if they are special made but would love to see a pic of them. Maybe Bill G could chime in here and give us a pic. I do like that compression tool; I have the spider kit but it is a bit flimsy. Never have used it as when I had my tires replaced it was done at Alliance in Wildwood and they had their own tool. Of course that was before Lazdays bought alliance so I have no idea what is used now. Bob L
  11. Thanks Dave; Will give them a call today.
  12. Thanks Dan; I have the "eye" top and bottom so the 24-187145 is probably the correct one. Bob L
  13. Been following this post and looking to change the rear shocks on my 08 dynasty 42'; looking at Bilstein 24-187145 Heavy duty; supposedly they will work on the 08 dynasty. Anyone familiar with them. Bob L, 08 dynasty diamond IV
  14. Mike: Good job. Where did you purchase those tools to rmove the pins, etc. Bob L, 08 dynasty
  15. OK---got a new board from Cummins, put it in this morning and all is well. Fuel pump works; ran genny for about an hour with a load and no problems. I have the old board and am going to see if it can be repaired so I can have a spare. By the way, the old part number for the board was 327-1501; however Cummins informed me that the new number is 300-5961. Now that is for a 10kw, Spec B with a Kubota engine. bob L, 08 dynasty
  16. Jim: The error code is 36; I tried everything this morning-- I have a good ground; I unplugged every connection, cleaned with contact cleaner replugged but still no help. I finally broke down, took the control board out and ordered a new one from Cummins ($$$). I have the 10HDKCA, spec B. Supposed to get the new board tomorrow or Saturday. I hope that solves the problem. Bob L, 08 dynasty
  17. The bedroom switch is the same. I am thinking also that maybe there is a bad ground. Tomorrow I am going to disconnect only the ground connection from the pump and grouind the pump directly to the negative post on the battery and see if switch activates the pump; if not, then I will check all the connections and clean with electric contact cleaner. Will let you know. Bob L, 08 dynasty
  18. Thanks Dennis; will give it a try. I know the bundle of wires you reference. If I 'hot wire" the fuel pump, the genny runs fine. Just can't get the 12 volts to the pump. from the rocker switch bob L, 08 dynasty
  19. I have a 10KW onan in my 08 dynasty. I am not getting 12V to fuel pump; I disconnected the fuel pump and applied external 12 V to it and the pump works; however it you push the rocker switch down the pump is supposed to work and it doesn't. Now, after i run the pump with the external power source, the genny starts right up but only runs for a few minutes until all the fuel is pulled from the filter then it shuts down. If I try the rocker switch to prime and start, the pump will not run. Obviously, not getting 12V to the pump. also put the voltmeter on the two leads going to the pump and push the rocker switch--no voltage. This is true for both the remote rocker switch and the one on the genny. anybody got any ideas as to where the "missing voltage" is hung up. Obviously, the switch works as the genny will turn over--but the pump will not engage Thanks, Bob L, 08 dynasty
  20. I have an 08 dynasty, but I it was really put together in 07. It does not have the chassis multiplex system It was probably one of the last well built coaches that Monaco did. It is a fantastic coach and never really had any problems other than minor. The chassis is well built, no cracks anywhere and I check it every month. If you can find one like it, I would recommend taking a hard look. Bob L., 08 dynasty
  21. Bill: Do you have a part number for the Ovisonline slides. I have an 08 dynasty and the bearings on one of the slides are shot. The other slide bearings are not that great either. I have taken the steps off in the past to replace the motor and used a small jack with a piece of plywood on top to lower the steps because they are really heavy and hard to handle. But if I can get the correct slides I will do it again to replace them. Thanks, Bob L, 08 dynasty
  22. Bruce: I have an 08 dynasty also. I am curious as to the what is meant by the j1g939 protocol. On a few occasions when I would start my coach I would get the "No Data" alert on the Medallion screen and no gauges would register although the engine ran fine. I would shut it down, wait a few seconds start it again and all would be fine. I have checked the grounds to the starter and the frame and they seem fine although I did not take a wire brush to them. I would like to find those two connectors you speak about from the ECM. Can you give me more specifics as to where they are located. Thanks, Bob L, 08 dynasty
  23. I have been with this group since the beginning. I have attended previous gatherings and enjoyed them. However, I find the topics are kinda repetitive; I may be the only one who feels that way. With that said, I did not attend this year's gathering because of other commitments. Will probably make it next year just for the fun of it. Bob L, 08 dynasty
  24. Thanks Mel: do you know of anyone with a Cummins ISL (DPF--NOT Def) who has used this with any success?? Bob L, 08 dynaty
