  1. I just got back from a 10 day trip into Oregon staying at 5 different locations. We used Starlink at every one with great success. The only place I thought we may have a problem was in the middle of Oregon in a river canyon with lots of trees and no cell service. I worked great. I'll include photos. I'm now leaving the router in the basement where I plug it in. When I want to set it up I just pull out enough cable to reach the top of my pole, crab the dish out of the box, plug it in, place it on the pole and extend the pole if necessary. I only had to extend the pole once on this trip. All of this takes less than 5 minutes. I saw a Youtube video of a guy that mounted his securely to the top of his RV and uses it while moving. I'd be reluctant to do that because you lose the ability to locate the dish in different locations when necessary.
  2. Stephen, at the cost of having two cell plans and an FMCA membership plus being throttled to 12Mbps and possibly still not having coverage in some areas, is there a reason you wouldn't be interested in having a Starlink RV plan? Just curious.
  3. I've just returned from my first trip with Starlink and I love it. Here is a tip. We've all been thinking we need to run the cable inside the motorhome to the router. However, if you don't need an Ethernet connection inside you can just keep the router in the basement near an electrical outlet. That's what I did. I still had full strength wifi throughout the motorhome and outside. It's much easier to run the cable out of one of your compartments and up the ladder. And even if you do need an Ethernet connection inside it might be easier to just run an Ethernet cable from the basement into the coach.
  4. I'm on my second set of Toyo M154 tires all around. Very pleased.
  5. I just returned from my first trip using Starlink. I Don't think I could ever go back to anything else. Usually 50 to 100Mbps down even where there in no cell service whatsoever. There is another thread dedicated to Starlink if you have more questions.
  6. Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered it. I'm assuming you are recommending it.
  7. If you are not able to get the wipers fixed right away, a good coat of RainX will allow for some driving in even more than a light rain.
  8. I had problems with mine until I replaced the suction cup. The old one just wouldn't stay up long. The new one has been up for several months already.
  9. I did the door on my Monarch about 4 years ago. I just figured it out on my own. My door is slightly different but it's the same principle. I agree with Cory, it' a huge improvement. I had thought about doing a video on it but I never got around to it. Those darn round-to-its.
  10. The cable is proprietary, you need to get it from Starlink. I've seen several different variations of the pole mounted to the ladder. There may be some pieces you can buy but mine is home made and my pole stays mounted to the ladder permanently.
  11. The Starlink Gen I router apparently has an ethernet port. The Gen II Starlink router does not and if you need one you can order an ethernet adapter cable from them for an extra $20.
  12. Yes, the wifi is excellent but that's not going to work if the motorhome is inside.
  13. If all you need in the house is Wifi and your motorhome is parked by your house, you may not even need to take it out of the motorhome.
  14. It is very easy to unplug the dish form the mount it comes with. If you do a pole mount on the motorhome and buy an extra cable it should be fairly easy to move just the dish and router back and forth.
  15. I have the base it came with so I can put it on the ground a table or anywhere on the roof. But I'd rather have it on the pole if the sky is clear there. The extra height helps and I don't have to worry about damage from kids, dogs, wind, bad drivers or whatever.
  16. After I had installed and tested the new ECM and sent the test data to Brazel's, Jon Brazel contacted me and suggested cleaning or replacing the MAP sensor. I cleaned it first but ended up replacing it. Judging from your experience that was probably a smart move. I do have dual exhaust on the motorhome. At the time I was making the other improvements I considered getting the performance mufflers from Brazel's but when I weighed the extra noise against the small improvement I decided against it. Here is something interesting about exhaust. Back when I was towing a travel trailer with my 07 Chevy 6.0L pickup I replaced the exhaust with a new Corsa exhaust system. While the Corsa dual pipe system was supposed to provide more HP the single was supposed to provide better torgue for towing. I went with the single.
  17. I also installed the ECM and TCM from Brazel's about 4 years ago. I was and am pleased with the results but I won't say they were huge but just noticeable. I get between 7 and 8 mpg depending on the trip. I can't say I noticed any fuel economy improvement but I think I know why. You'll get improved fuel economy or improved performance but not both. I tend to go for the extra performance. If you used to go up a certain hill at 50 mph and now you can go up that hill at 53 mph and you do, you probably won't get better millage. That would be me. If you back off and go up that hill at 50 mph you will probably get better millage. I live in the west (Nevada) and there are always hills.
  18. Turn of both chassis and coach shut off switches. Unplug your shore power. Disconnect the ground cable at each battery first and then the positive cables. Then remove the batteries. Reverse the order to install them.
  19. Here's the dish mount. I had the telescoping flagpole already. The bottom section broke but after cutting off the bade piece it was still plenty long enough for this purpose. I had to make a shim to put in the top end in order to get a snug fit on the dish pipe. You can see the cable goes into the bedroom slide. Inside at the other end of the cable is the Starlink router and it plugs into a 120v outlet. That's it for the equipment! However, if you have anything that needs an ethernet port, you need to order the ethernet adapter from Starlink for an additional $20. There is no ethernet port on the Gen II Starlink router. Without the ethernet adapter the Starlink router just puts out a strong Wifi signal. For the time being I'm just going to leave my router in the bedroom. I'm need to do some maintenance on the roof this summer and when I'm finished I might run the cable down the roof so I can put the router in my electronics compartment up front. And finally the speed test. Your results may vary as do mine. While I've been using the system at home my speeds have ranged from 40 Mbps to 250 Mbps. Typically they are around 100 Mbps though. This morning I backed out the motorhome, installed the dish and plug it in. I waited about 15 minutes for it to get aligned and then I did the test that you can see below. Whether it will be much slower when I'm in roaming mode I don't know. I can fill you in later.
  20. I got my Starlink home setup about two months ago and it works great. In the mean time I finally got my T-mobile home internet working properly so today I finished my installation on the motorhome and I'll be trying it out soon. The advantage to to the RV system is being able to stop and start service as needed. I can't do that with the residential system. I used a telescoping flag pole and attached it to the ladder. I can have the dish just above the ladder or I can raise it an extra 6 feet or so. The bedroom slide is very close so I run the cable out trough the slide seal. It works great here at the house but I can't wait to try it somewhere that has no other service.
  21. First and the sooner after the spill the better, poor some gasoline on the the spot and scrub it with a broom. Don't be stingy with the gas and wipe up any residue with rags. You may even want to repeat this step. Then use any kind of degreaser or detergent and water on the spot and once again scrub with a broom. Finally, if you have a pressure washer wash it down thoroughly. I'm a retired mechanic and I've been cleaning oil off of concrete my hole life. There are no oil stains on my garage floor. Muriatic acid will remove stains from concrete however it etches the surface an makes it more porous and much harder to clean in the future. Epoxy paint is awesome for shop floors. The only down side is it's very slippery when wet.
  22. I don't imagine it will cause any serious problems if you wait. However, I would just go ahead and replace it now so you don't have think about it anymore. You won't necessarily get any cracks or chips traveling in Canada and Alaska. I've been to Alaska and back twice without getting any. It would just bug me having to look at it every day.
  23. Les Schwab has tire stores all over the West. I've never seen one that doesn't service trucks and RVs. They even have service trucks for road calls. I like to buy my RV tires from them because I live in the West and when I'm traveling they seem to be almost everywhere. If you buy your tires from them they usually will fix flats for free. Even 3 or 4 states away from where I purchased my tires they have handled warranty issues without my paperwork. I was in the computer.
  24. Thanks Edgar. I'm in Nevada but we have Les Schwab and I was planning on checking with them anyway.
