Jim, If you are still lifting 250 lb posts, you da man. Can't do that much weight anymore. My back and core can't handle it. I've already ripped one ingual hernia, don't want to do that again. Lots of pain and required surgery. By the way Dave, how is your brake project coming along? God Bless all, Ed, Sylvia and Sage.

Was able to change my display name to the same name I have on Irv2. God Bless all and good luck on your project Dave. Ed & Sylvia

Thanks for the kudos. The job wasn't that bad using a harbor freight motorcycle jack. Like you Jim, I'm not very big, at 164 lbs, the drums were almost as heavy as me. I feel blessed that I'm still able to crawl around under the MH and get things done. Things are much heavier now, 100 lbs is no longer 100 lbs.God bless all of you, Ed & Sylvia

Dave, we all have our moments. Went to Utility Trailer this morning to check the current prices on the Webb drums and shoe kits. The drums were $150.00 each and the shoe kits with springs and rollers are $65.00 a set. Don't think you can go wrong at those prices. If your drums are the heavier ones, they will be a few dollars more. God Bless, Ed & Sylvia

Dave, as I indicated, we were able to do the brake job on the rear of our Dynasty for less than $400.00. That included the cost of new American made Webb drums, the shoes and the spring/ roller kits. If there is a Utility Trailer dealer in your area, it might be the best place to source your parts. I did all the labor myself. At 72 years of age, the drums were much heavier than when I was 50. I used a motorcycle jack to raise and lower the drums. They weighed about 155 lbs each. Good luck on your project. God Bless, Ed & Sylvia

If you have a Utility Trailer dealer in your area, check with them. We were able to replace the both of our rear drums, new shoes and spring kits for $347.00 last year.

Low Coolant Light and Chime
Notn2bars replied to Notn2bars's topic in Engine, Transmission, Engine Cooling, & Hydraulics
Ray and Cliff thanks for the replies. That darned chime is a PITA. Haven't done any work on the coolant system and the gauge shows the temp around 180-190. Not afraid to go into the rats nest as I have completely rebuilt the dash with black walnut. Also replaced all the ground bus bars under the dash. Soooo it's anybodys guess as to what is going on. Think I will post this on irv2 also. God Bless ya'll, Ed &n Sylvia Vito, you da man. Took the sensor out of the tank and chucked it up in a drill press. Polished it up real nice and putty. Installed it back in the cooplant tank and no more light or chime. Yeah God is good!!!!! Thanks for taking the time to reply to the post. God Bless Ed & Sylvia -
The DW and I took my daughter and granddaughter too South Padre Island for the weekend. Started the MH up and as usual the low coolant light and chime came on. This is not unusual, it usually stops after air builds up and we get moving. This weekend, while going and coming, the light and chime would come on. Whenever we would slow down or at idle the light and chime would start. Then they would start at odd times and stop. Once they came on and when we rounded a curve and the road was at a slight angle they stopped. Checked the coolant level, coolant is topped up. Any suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated. God Bless, Ed & Sylvia

what oil filter for 2004 8.3 ISC?
Notn2bars replied to ok-rver's topic in Engine, Transmission, Engine Cooling, & Hydraulics
DIY strap wrench for filters. Cobbled this together awhile back. Used a piece of 3/4 square stock 24 inches long and a piece of nylon strap from an old ratcheting tie down. Cut a slot in the end of the square tubing. Rolled the ends of the strap together and melted them together. Made certain the rolled up strap was large enough to remain in the tubing when stress was applied. Slipped nylon strap into end of tubing. Voila, diy strap wrench. Works great. Hope someone could use the info. This strap wrench is long enough to easily access any of the filters that need changing. The inside dimensions of the 3/4 tubing fit a 1/2 drive rachet. Ditto on the Watch Dog. "The Hughes Power Watchdog Smart Bluetooth Surge Protector is a "smart" RV surge protector. It has Bluetooth connectivity so you can monitor live park power conditions on your smartphone using Hughes mobile app available on iOS and Android platforms. This allows you to wirelessly monitor voltage and current draw on your smartphone. It offers complete LED park power diagnostics with wireless fault alerts and you can set custom alert thresholds. The surge/spike unit is replaceable if you get hit by a large spike, so you won't need to replace the whole unit." Congratulations on your new hobby. God Bless, Ed & Sylvia

Tim, I can see your point. Gonna change out my screen, which is working up to this point. It appears we have larger gnats. So we are going to replace our screen with mosquito netting material. Should keep out (all) everything that flys out of our plumbing. God bless, Ed & Sylvia

We have had good luck polishing headlights with Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish. Inexpensive and it works. Just my 2 cents worth. God Bless, Ed & Sylvia

Look on the roof for your tank vents. See if they have a screen on them. If not, the gnats could be intering your tanks via the roof vents. I took the caps off ours and placed some screen over the opening. Held the screen in place with a zip tie. See Pics. Works great, no more gnats. Did both vents. God Bless, Ed & Sylvia

Awesome post Happycarz! Thank you for taking the time and effort to post the tank removal. Hopefully we will never have to tackle tank removal, but if we do, this post will be invaluable. God bless, Ed & Sylvia

Thanks for the post Tim, I did not know that. May keep me from experiencing frustration at a later date. God Bless, Ed & Sylvia

FASS Install
Notn2bars replied to Notn2bars's topic in Engine, Transmission, Engine Cooling, & Hydraulics
Todd, that's the reason I installed the FASS return line on the opposite side of the tank. (Driver side) I removed the original fitting that had a tube that went to the bottom of the tank. Had to unscrew the fitting and bend the copper tube as it was removed. Then installed a larger fitting and the FASS return line, therefore it does not interfere with the tank venting system. Speedometer pegged to max
Notn2bars replied to windsorbill06's topic in General Motorhome Discussion
Bill, there should be a pot on the back of the speedo. When mine was acting up, I marked the setting on the pot and took a small screw driver, turned the pot back and forth a couple of times. Then reset it to the original setting. It has worked great ever since. Just a thought!! God Bless, Ed & Sylvia -

Remove batteries to clean & paint battery tray
Notn2bars replied to Wrayj1's topic in General Motorhome Discussion
Ditto on the great advice above. Unfortunately one of the battery trays in our Dynasty was beyond repair, so we rebuilt it. When finished coated both trays with Eternakote. As stated, make certain you take pics of all the wiring before you start. Boiling water does a great job of cleaninig any corrosion. Found it works better thank coke or baking soda. The hotter the water the better. God bless, Ed & Sylvia
