  1. Did we ever find out how many gal it took for your motor?
  2. D@mn service place was wanting to put in the OAT Coolant says that’s what they have put in hundreds of vehicles. I told them about the sensor problems that are encountered with using that on the older motors. Then he texts me a pic of ES Compleat and I said I didn’t want that either and that I wanted the Fully Formulated coolant and that I would bring it to them. Hell even if they need to make a little on my coolant that’s what I want to use. Waiting to hear back. If they won’t give me what I’m asking for I’ll go somewhere else.
  3. I wish I had a level enough area at home to do this but I don't so I’m going check on my diesel truck center and have them do it. No I would never put it down a sewer drain.
  4. I haven’t heard of a temp sensor on batteries be charged by an alternator that has a voltage regulator, but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong. I have however used one on my solar charge controller on a previous coach.
  5. My concern is 3 fold. •I have a water source but no level place to perform this at home. •Where I do have a level ground I have no water source. •Disposing of all the old coolant properly is going to be a problem. I will probably have it done at a Cummins facility but trusting it to be done thoroughly is always concerning.
  6. I have flushed and change coolants before but not in a diesel motor. I don’t want to be Naïve by not knowing any possible challenges such as draining the block or getting the air out as I’m filling it. Others I would fill thru the radiator before starting, then start and continue filling while motor is running, maybe shut down intermittently and fill some more while idling. How difficult and what are the challenges. Any good sources out there on doing so?
  7. Roy, I didn’t mean to hijack your thread the last few days but I guess it was along the same lines and probably most were following it. I too can’t find the coolant capacity in my manual, not even a range. Oh by the way at a Rural King in a neighboring town I found some Peak Fully Formulated coolant today for $10.99 gal
  8. Yes I was wondering about that with the AH but didn’t want to take this down a different path. Friend has the AH in a 2015 Phaeton. I believe it’s the later version. Richard, No I do not have a AH
  9. Yes you did say that, you could use it in both the genny and your motor, but maybe the Aqua Hot is different. I didn’t know either whether the makeup of the radiator had played into that decision. Many seem to just keep the Green coolant but I didn’t know why.
  10. Richard wow what a great read, I recommend it to any of us not understanding this stuff. You were right about it answering my questions and concerns. It mentioned it could be used in your genny, is there any reason you don’t? So my take away is I can use the OAT Compleat or the ES Compleat in my wet sleeve motor if I want to change it. It seems a lot less work involved.
  11. Sorry Richard I asked a question that was already addressed in your explanation. That’s what happens when your helping the wife and trying to sneak in a reply🤪
  12. So there is a difference, or just called two different things? I hadn’t heard of the DSA.
  13. Once again great info. Is there any pitfalls of changing it? Your saying DCA I assume your finger is hitting the D instead of the S? SCA
  14. Thanks Richard for the great info! I have my coolant report back and I’m probably going to change it out, possibly have a Cummins shop do it instead of doing it myself. I may just go with the new stuff if it’s not an issue. The gen I guess will still use the green Prestone coolant. They both have the green currently. I guess my coolant filter would change to a different filter? This is all very confusing.
  15. So what is the recommended coolant for our older 2002 Monaco? It’s obviously confusing, coolant type, coolant additive, SCA charged filters, what size of pre charged filers? I plan on having a hopefully Qualified Service center do mine to get it off my plate and hopefully have done correctly. I need to have some knowledge on this to be able to ask the right informed questions before doing so.
  16. Good suggestions. What manual the Monaco manual? I have it in for state safety Insp at a large reputable truck ctr and I gave them the video and asked them to look at it and give me their opinion. They will experience it when they start it and bring into their shop. My plan is to do the fluid and filter change when I get it back. I have the filters and fluid. I have a 12v bidirectional pump to draw down the reservoir that I’ve used on changing oil in my boats thru the yrs that will draw that down pretty easy. What did you think of the label on the steering box? Do you think that’s original, it has Monaco on the label?
  17. I noticed while doing a audio/video of my steering box hissing hydraulic noise, that the Sheppard unit has a label on it that may tell me it’s not original? The part number label doesn’t appear to be 20 yrs old. Any opinions?
  18. So is this Esco TS a popular replacement model? What are other popular models?
  19. They make copper split bolts for solid wire or you can use a solid crimp style butt connector which is better looking to give you a clean look. Check the big box stores they have them. I like the fact that they lay out really close.
  20. Tire Safe Guard, coach and towed, no booster needed. No issues, customizable parameters, user replaceable batteries. Mostly marketing sells these devices IMO.
  21. I’m finding that many experience this and is somewhat common and some have had success with fluid and filters change, and some no so much. I have the filters but here is my question, with it being the old Sheppard unit would it present this noise, and if I would have to change the steering pump soon after changing the fluid will I again have to change that fluid?
  22. On first start up of the day on my ‘02 Windsor 40 my power steering is a little jerky in both directions and also has a what I’m calling a hydraulic hissing when turning the wheel in either direction. Both get much better after warming up from driving. I plan on starting with changing the fluid and filters in the fluid reservoir. Any particular things I can check or have checked out?
  23. Boy they sure did, I made mention of that in another thread. I’m new to the Monaco. That was something that stood out to me.
