  1. I am assuming ems is referring to a surge protector of some type.. and not an energy management system as installed in many motor homes. I thought most motor homes had a surge protector built in. I believe mine does but will investigate further.
  2. Bob I am Curious is the 15-20k the weight of your towed items?.. seems like a lot to be attached to the hitch of the mh ?
  3. . Tire pressure equalization systems are very popuplar for keeping dual tire pressure equal . Common on long haul over the road trucks. Interesting that runs counter to description of the refined method. Where might one find that information for the refined method. I don’t think I suggested overinflating any rears, sure did not mean to imply that. I have split weighed front and back including the tags and set pressure accordingly. It is always a challenge to get consistent repeatablepressure readings with gauges. I have read that a Tpms system is accurate to .1 pound . Don’t know if i believe it. Good thought provoking ideas on this subject.
  4. When you talk of weighing all four corners I understand however, where I live there are a lot of truck scales and I don’t know of a single one that you can weigh individual corners. Partly due to corner post around scale to protect it and the fact the elevation of the surrounding terrain is not exactly the same as the scale platform so the weights were not be actual anyway and probably useless.Follow manufacturers recommendation and monitor the tire pressures with a Tpms might be best . I am not sure varying 500 or even 1000 pounds is critical. also individual tires in a dual configuration can have a lower load rating than that same tire in a single configuration . You can’t load the dual tires up to 2 times their single load rating because you have to have a margin in case one blows and all the load is transferred to the one good tire. That makes higher ply rating with the higher load rating a good thing to have. Many times a tire will blow in a dual situation because one of the tires was low on pressure causing the good tire to carry more load and fail first. Seen it numerous times on my grain semi trucks. I probably would not go down inply rating to get a better ride. There are tires out there that you won’t sacrifice much if any ride at a higher ply rating. They may get more expensive tho. I , like Tom. Set mine drive and monitor pressures. Really all you can do. My 3 cents worth.
  5. So how do you compensate for the tires that are running in the sunshine. Those pressure will be higher no matter what the ambient temp. I suppose ideally set tire pressure with all tires cold and out of the sun.. I generally do so in an enclosed building. But do notice pressures will vary a lot between the sunny and shady site of my motorhome.
  6. I would have definitely bought Louisville test box had I run across it first.
  7. Something I have that is very quick and useful for troubleshooting is the aquahot webasto test box. It plugs in as the burner control does. It will test fuel, ignition, blower and flame sensor on my ahe100-04s. If these test ok there is nothing wrong in the burner . Then next would be the burner control box suspect. A spare new burner control is nice to have. As is a spare circuit board. Aquahot service is very expensive if done at a shop. The box soon can pay for itself. .glad to see Roger Burke site comes up now. For awhile it looked like he had vanished. William Barie of Louisville engineering is a member of this site also.
  8. Louisville engineering sells a secondary fuel filter system that filters to two microns as opposed to the original 10 micron filter. There is a narrative by Louisville describing the benefits. Very interesting as the sintered filter on the nozzle overtime will plug because 10 micron filter is too large. Claims the nozzle will last multiple times longer and require less frequent service. Plus the 2 micron filter elements are readily available. I may install when I get the opportunity.
  9. Agreed .seems like most responses are quite lengthy. But I for one still appreciate the answersQuestion started out short and simple. The end.
  10. By”main breaker” I assume you refer to the 20 amp branch circuit breaker powering12 awg that is dedicated to the the aquahot electric element. The main breaker would likely be the one that protects the incoming power to all the branch circuits? Fortunately I do have the prints . There are a lot of them. I think I will remove the cover of breaker box and see what size conductor is there. I think I did mention in earlier post a 1650 watt element is in my aquahot.Thankyou
  11. Good points . Sometimes the type of load also has to be determined along with the current draw of the load. And then determine circuit protection necessary.
  12. I would not order this type of thing on Amazon and I don’t think I indicated so.. although some items are identical to the local offering. One may need to measure actual voltage at breaker static and under load to determine what the voltage actually is. These campgrounds can vary a lot as we all know. Where I am at is 124 to 125 on each leg which is unusually good. I have seen 85v which causes my watchdog to take me offline.I am going to measure the actual current draw at the element for interest sake. Thank you all. Fwiw my element draws 13.2 amps at 122 volts or1610 watts for. 1650 w rated element . Test instrument inaccuracy .??? Physical size of the element may be an issue when fitting tank.
  13. What is a 20/30 amp breaker? 2000 watt will draw not quite 17 amps. For a thirty amp breaker one may need 10 guage conductor to to element. I see my breaker to element is 20amp
  14. Aquahot has 1650 watt element on 120v. Curious if a residential water heater element of same size would work.
  15. After 27 years of rving I have learned a little, some the hard way.. My aquahot has performed to prevent freezing at even -16 degrees.. no wind condition. Heat bulbs are marginal solution as is any other supplemental heat if it does not have a backup. Bulbs burn out , heaters fail. So in any of those critical situations I have a backup heat source and real time monitoring remotely with alarms to my phone. I have seven locations monitored on my mh. Very interesting to see how those systems operate. Just wondered what others experiences were. I did search old posts. Wanted fresher information than some of those. Almost all topics have been addressed more than once on these type of sites.. in that case there would never be many new posts.
  16. What are the experiences for those with aquahot. I see all these responses are propane furnaces . I guess my interest is in the plumbing water systems not so much in the interior comfort.
  17. How do you mitigate the freezing risk in your motorhome. Curious as to how low of temps one can take if operating normally on shore power in campground. It will be 10 degrees here next week!
  18. Mine had a dipstick in the mh3000 under the access floor in bedroom. The Allison tech said it is more reliable than the electronic system. And he preferred to dip the level.
  19. What indications does the control board show. Is the system calling for heat and is the board sending a call to light the burner?
  20. I have the echo charger by xantrex and it works well. I have heard 3 owners lately a prevost, allegro and Monaco that experience your problem also.. I have never had an issue. I have a xantrex smart shunt on my batteries so I can always monitor charge to chassis and house plus current charge or draw.. I watch it bounce back and forth between the two systems as it charges them .. very easy to install and no issues with it doing its job.
  21. Repositioning the tires or a short drive every month may be best. On the aircraft I flew if the aircraft had been parked the tires were to be excercised every month and then parked 180 from where they had been. Think that is a good plan for any tires
  22. There is a 120 volt duplex outlet in my engine compartment the block heater plugs into and is controlled by the block heat switch . On mine it is located. It likely has a weather cover on it. Idoubt the heater is wired directly as that would make replacement more difficult . The block heater on mine does not have a huge current draw. Maybe about 1200 watts drawing 10 amps or less measured. I have a hughes industry watchdog surge suppressor that gives reading voltage ,amps ,and watts real-time. Gives a lot of good info to balance loads in coach. Also connects Bluetooth to my phone so one can easily remotely monitor. Her 30 amp service may exceed your Duplex outlet capacity which may be 15 to 20 amps max. I have heard of coaches with sufficient generator capacity having a dedicated 30 amp rv or even a 50 amp rv outlet installed . The 50amp were on prevost 20kw 4 cylinder diesel gens. You may have checked your circuit breakers to see what amperage those outlets are protected at.
  23. Catcon made replacement sensors that may be the same as yours. They read by pressure or call it head pressure. They can be calibrated in the alladin. They have worked well for me in the fresh and grey water tanks. The black tanks seems to need cleaning occasionally due to debris getting over the pressure sender on the tank side of sensor. Flush the tank with fresh water and then screw the sensor out and clean it. That being said the see level system is much less trouble.very easy to install if you can access the end of the tanks. if I recall the cat on sensors were about 62$
  24. Diesel and electric can be on at the same time. They have separate high limit switches but are both controlled simultaneously on and off by the common control thermostat . All green lights on the circuit board will not necessarily indicate the circuit board is doing its job. Those green lights only indicate heat is being called for, which heating zone are active and which pumps are called to be running. The diesel or electric side can work independently of one another in the case either fails. You might try tapping on the circuit board housing. I have seen that solve the problem temporarily or for quite sometime. There are transistors on that board which control the diesel burning and electric heating function and can become intermittent or just plain weak. I experienced this several times in a year or so.. it makes one to think other components are at fault . Replace burner controls three times to think I had the problem solved only to find out it was the circuit board . All three if the suspect burner controls tested good on later investigation. Depending on model,w your aquahot may have only one electric burner at 1450 watts. That is not much for a large motorhome. You might try feeling the aquahot for warm to determine if There is any heating going on. Your diplomat may be new enough to have dual electric burners at much higher wattage.
  25. I have flat towed same vehicle. The sequence to complete transfer case disengagement will also unlocksteering wheel as you complete the procedure.
