TigerMar
Hi all, Wondering if anyone has seen a connection like this before? Changing out house batteries and I discovered this in the battery bay after removing old batteries. Was not attached to batteries as far as I could tell. thanks for any help
Harvey Babb
Looks like the temperature sensor for the charger/inverter. They are usually attached to the battery to measure its temperature. The best charge voltage is dependent on temperature and this is the best way to get it right. Mine is a block with tapered ends that sticks to the battery with double sided foam tape. Anything to keep it in contact with the side of the battery case is OK.
TigerMar
Hi Harvey, I thought that at first, but I have a magnum inverter that has a separate temp sensor which connects to one of the battery posts. thanks gary
vito.a
It could be a temp sensor for the Heliotrope solar charger. Edited June 4, 2021 by vito.a
Darren A.
I agree with the group, appears to be some sort of temp sensor.
KevinH
I think it’s the temp sensor for the Heliotrope solar charger also.
Harvey Babb
Any chance you can trace it back to the source? Everyone seems to agree it's a temperature sensor so any battery charging device is a prime suspect. Mini
TigerMar
Thank you all for your input. It is the battery temperature sensor for the solar. It’s a Heliotrope Controller sensor as Keven said. I looked up the wiring diagram for the controller and it is put between two batteries to get a temp. Again, thanks!

Batteries are charged based on temperature and charge.
KevinH
I think it’s either your temperature sensor for your solar controller or your inverter
