bandmmorris
A lot of the insulation around my engine is coming loose or is simply in bad shape. Any suggestions on where I could purchase replacement insulation would be appreciated.
cbr046
There may be other / better materials but I used this on the doghouse of the old gasser. It worked well to insulate heat and noise. The trick is fastening it (or any other material) so it doesn't come loose with time. https://www.amazon.com/Thermo-Tec-13575-Adhesive-Aluminized-Barrier/dp/B00029KC2K/ - bob

Happycarz
Take a close look at the cross section of your foam insulation. If yours is like mine the insulation is a sandwich of different layers. The foam consists of a layered sandwich with a decoupling layer in the center. Besides it having an insulation property, the main purpose is sound deadening. I plan to redo my complete engine compartment this some with one of the following products. Wander around these sites to see what they offer for replacement insulation, along with the supporting products used to attach such. https://www.soundproofcow.com/product/quiet-barrier-specialty-composite-2/ https://www.westmarine.com/west-marine-acoustical-foam---1-2inch-thick-x-54inch-x-32inch-includes-seam-tape-216858.html https://defender.com/en_us/soundown-sound-stop-foam-panel-with-1lb-barrier-layer
LakeBob
I recently rebuilt both the engine covers on my Dynasty. The hard part is cleaning the surface to get good adhesion.
Steve P
My engine has a rear radiator. I'm not sure there is even enough access to get the shreds of existing insulation off and new insulation in place. Does anyone have first hand experience doing so with this arrangement? Thanks in advance for any insights.
veraken
This is what I used. In addition to the adhesive spray, I used some screws and large washers to mechanically attach. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001GFQ1XI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P76ES0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=
bandmmorris
Thanks. How well did the insulation work. It appears much thinner than what I have which is around 1/2 inches thick. Amazon.com: Automotive Door Rubber Seal Trim Seal Strip with Side Bulb for Cars, Boats, Trucks, RVs and Home Applications - PVC Bulb Trim with EPDM Rubber Seal (20Ft) : Automotive Foil Tape, you can find it at Home Depot or Lowes. I used a combination of 2 inch and 3 inch tape. I used the tape below for part of the job. Amazon.com: Design Engineering 010468 Cool-Tape Self-Adhesive Heat Reflective Tape, 2" x 30' Roll : Industrial & Scientific The above seal was very similar to OEM, only the bulb was a slightly bigger diameter. Fitment was the same as OEM. Very pleased with performance so far, been installed about 8 months. Definitely need to adjust the latches when done.
