  1. If you're not receiving newsletters for some reason, or if you ever want to go back and look at older newsletters (no need to keep them in your inbox since they are archived on the site.), the following information may help: This link will always take you to the current Newsletter: https://www.monacoers.org/newsletters/1-monacoers-daily-news/ If you scroll to the bottom of that page, there is a link to the last 4-5 newsletters, and button (link) to View All Newsletters. Here is a link to the archive of all newsletters back to the beginning of the current Monacoers.org site: https://www.monacoers.org/newsletters/1-monacoers-daily-news/?do=issues Still working on that archive of the old Yahoo! site (I have the database), but haven't found a way to convert that database to something that's friendly with our current provider. If you ever want me to look something up, I do take special requests... Hope that helps! Scotty
  2. That is not an IOTA ITS-50R. Here’s what an Iota looks like inside: Here is an ESCO LPT50BRD install on the same coach (the bottom unit is a Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C surge protector): Some may disagree, but my opinion is that the Southwire 40100 is a better ATS than the Lyght (ESCO). (And for the record, I have the ESCO LPT50BRD in my coach - but I plan to change it out.) The reason behind my opinion is the way that the Southwire unit does “break before make” on the neutral. This prevents the possibility of feedback through the neutral when switching between shore power and genny while still plugged into shore power (another topic for debate). The LPT50BRD does not “break before make” and could, potentially allow feedback through the neutral. Now, this can absolutely be prevented (with ANY ATS) by simply unplugging shore power before starting the genny (or conversely, never plugging into shore power with the genny running) - both of which rules i follow with my current setup. The Southwire unit will require more work to install, and many Monacoers haves used the ESCO/Lyght LPT50BRD for many years with no problems at all. BUT, from the standpoint of an engineer that worked in the electric utility industry for 43+ years, my opinion is that the Southwire is a better design.
  3. @Georgia Mike, I have the software and equipment to read the Bendix brake system fault codes. Maybe next time I head south I can throw it in the truck and we can check your brake controller. I’m in Marietta, so about an hour (or so) away. Let me know if you want to try and set that up. Scotty
  4. Ok. I also sent from my Yahoo! email address. Wonder what's up with that?? See the private message I sent on here with my phone number. Call me when you can. Scotty
  5. I wouldn’t necessarily call it an upgrade, but I have a remote coach monitoring system, and I went with a Hughes Power Watchdog because it integrates with the RV Whisper remote monitoring system. Electrically they are very similar, but the Hughes connects via Bluetooth to the RV Whisper.
  6. I have a used - but in perfect condition - Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C Hardwired RV Surge & Electrical Protector and a Progressive Industries EMS-RDS Remote Digital Display (with a custom Paul Whittle @pwhittle designed flush-mount plate) for sale. $150 for all + you pay shipping. Here is a link to the Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C description and specs: https://www.progressiveindustries.net/ems-hw50c Here is a link to the Progressive Industries EMS-RDS description and specs: https://www.progressiveindustries.net/ems-rds Here are current pictures of the unit I have for sale:
  7. I can only speak for my coach, but the OEM drums on my 2006 Diplomat were made by Webb. Very expensive and hard to find these days. Some upper-level Roadmasters had disc brakes; someone else will have to answer that part… Also, there is a plethora of information on brake parts in the parts list!! PS - I used aftermarket drums (mine had a crack in the driver’s side steer axle drum) and they were significantly less than the Webb drums. The only difference was the aftermarket drums didn’t have the little screw holes to hold the drum to the axle before you put the wheels on. That’s been a few years ago and the aftermarket drums work just fine.
  8. Check out this thread... It might contain some info that will help. the 2009 Knight should have similar (or the same) drums as my 2006 Diplomat. Not much changed with Roadmaster Chassis those last few years.
  9. I used Radiator Supply House. Very pleased with the quality, delivery (they had it in stock) and price. I went with a copper/brass radiator rather than the original all-aluminum, but they offer both. I have about 8,000 miles on the new radiator since August 1, and my temps are consistently in the high 170°F - low 180°F range. Transmission temps are significantly cooler, too https://radiatorsupplyhouse.com/#&gid=1&pid=1 You can get the modern equivalent of the OEM aluminum radiator from Source Engineering: https://sourcerv.com/
  10. I received a recommendation a few years back for Tony’s Trim & Upholstery (770) 279-1117 (Norcross, GA) from a fellow Monaco owner who had some work done there. Also consider you can purchase covers from Lisa Bauer, who purchased all of the Flexsteel patterns and has her own business (in CA). https://bauerrvupholstery.com/ One option (the one I’ve been contemplating) would be to purchase the new covers from Lisa (she can match the Newmarket material), then have Tony’s install them.
  11. I recently replaced mine when I replaced my rear radiator. Given the age, my vote would be yes, but you may want to consider whether it’s leaking, or if there is any play in the bearings. Mine was not leaking, but had 105k miles and 16 years on the original pump and there was some play in the bearings. Also, seeing Rick’s pictures, there have probably been improvements in the pump design that would give better flow…
  12. I must be old school… I carry a pancake compressor in my truck (toad). I do have a long hose to connect to the coach, if needed, but I haven’t done that in years. I'm sort of a belt AND suspenders type guy when it comes to tires…
  13. @NGADawgs introduced me to Gaffer’s tape. Best stuff ever!
  14. Ever so often, we have a thread about what tools folks carry. It’s been a while, so just in case anyone needs gift ideas, I thought this was a pretty decent list from RV Travel newsletter: https://www.rvtravel.com/video-rv-toolbox-tools-2247/ What’s missing from this list? Tell us your favorites!
  15. Hey, I’m traveling today and only have my phone available. Hopefully someone who is at a desktop can clarify. If not, I’ll look on my laptop tonight and respond. in the meantime, it is a Windows, Apple, or Chromebook??
  16. Ok, so here’s what I ended up doing… I have a Jaco tire inflator that I really like. It’s been very dependable and the gauge is accurate. I bought a 6’ 1/4” air hose rated at 300 psi and replaced the short braided steel hose. Voila’! I’m able to air up my coach tires and stand back a ways. Maybe a false sense of security, but I feel safer… Here are the products I used, if anyone is interested: 6' 1/4' 300 psi Air Hose JACO FlowPro Digital Tire Inflator with Pressure Gauge - 200 PSI Brass Pipe Fitting, Adapter, 1/8" Male Pipe x 1/4" Female Pipe
  17. Rick, Since I got my Diplomat I’ve used Blackstone Labs and been pleased with them. If I recall correctly they have an expedited service with an email report that’s relatively quick. You could reach out to them and ask. FedEx the sample to them and pay a small extra fee to move to the front of the line and get the report within a day of them receiving it… or something like that https://www.blackstone-labs.com/
  18. Do you have some videos that would help fellow Monacoers? Do you have a YouTube channel with Monaco-related videos? If so, we're happy to publish your videos on this site, and/or on the Monacoers YouTube channel. If you already have a YouTube channel that has Monaco-related videos, we'd be happy to link to it and feature it on our Monacoers YouTube Channel page. We just recently added zMotorSports as a linked channel, and Mike has a wealth of great videos on there (Thanks for the idea, Mike!) Happy Motorhoming! Scotty
  19. Makes me think I might want to buy one of those long inflator leads. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CzEGjAQJoC-/?igshid=Y2NkYjk0MDhjYg==
