  1. My rear view camera quit. The inside camera is not connected and I don't believe it works. The two mirror cameras are not anything to brag about, and the roadside is terrible. So I want to replace all of them, minus the interior camera. My selector switch also died some time ago and I rebuilt the arm rest panel without that switch. My monitor seems alright, but it can go as well. Has anyone done a complete change out? Did you go wired or wireless? Will check out any recommendations. I would like to replace the cameras in the mirrors instead of surface mounting some new side view cameras. I really would like a good back up camera, one that you can actually use to back up with. Thanks, Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  2. It's been well over a year since I talked with M&M, maybe a couple years. I'm hoping mine continues trouble free. Good to know there are some still working on these systems. There was a shop in southern CA trying to rework a system and had been attempting some sort of rewire and had already put about 600 hours on it and it still wasn't finished. Never heard anything more, I'm guessing the gave up or the customer ran out of money. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV (with the dreaded Kongsberg chassis mux)
  3. There are couple of techs still at the REV location in Coburg, OR., that know the chassis mux. They replaced a master and another switch and then reprogramed the new switches for me. That has been a couple of years ago now and things are still working. I can't remember the name of the tech (Adam comes to mind but not sure, but Kris Burns was my service rep) and REV won't let any of them talk to you on the phone anymore. Not many around that can work on these systems. It took us a good 6 months trying to find someone with the CADET software and laptop to do the programing. I know many mention M&M, but during my search the last time I talked with them there was nothing they could do for me. Most likely not enough systems still out there to make sense for a company to take on making replacement parts. Worse part of my problem was the engine brake switch would not communicate with the ECM and the engine brake took on a life of its own, working when it wanted to, not when I wanted it to most of the time. Shop after shop said it couldn't be fixed. Well it can be fixed if someone knows what there are doing if the CCM is still working Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV.
  4. CapnDean, check to make sure the factory put the pressure switch in the right place in the air lines. Going off memory there is the pump then a check valve then the pressure switch between the check valve and the tank. The factory put mine ahead of the valve and once the pressure in the pump dropped the pump would turn on and basically ever turn off. My coach stays level and I hear the pump running every so often. I used to pull the fuse, but that got old and it was very difficult to see the fuse let alone get my fingers in there to remove/replace. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  5. After giving it some more thought I think the mechanic had locked the coach with the fob, I didn't know that and unlocked the door with the key instead of using the "unlock" button. It wasn't until I realized that all the bay doors were locked, which I had a couple unlocked before. Still want to find the switch just I know where it is. Also, there is a starter solenoid cut out that won't allow the engine to crank on part of the security system, so it will be good to know where the valet switch is. Thanks for the replies, I think the fob is my solution. Sometimes the simplest of things get over looked. Now if I can just remember where I wrote down the code for the keyless entry. 6. Learned today that there is a security system on our coach, well I knew there was one but we have never used it. The siren let me know it's there and works. There is a valet switch I need to find to control this system. Can anyone point me to an area where I might start looking? I had Cummins do a 17 point inspection early in the day. I have a feeling they bumped the switch, which might mean the switch is near or around the J1939 ports under the dash. Late, dark and cold out right now, will search tomorrow with more light to look around. Thanks. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  7. I had a problem that was intermittent. The 12 volt pick up pump was not getting power all the time. I installed a switch to manually get 12 volts to the pump when ever the gen wouldn't run. Turns out it was a loose pin in one of the connectors in that mess of wires and connectors on top, just under the cover in the front of the engine. Maybe? Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  8. I put a switch inside to shut power off to the pump so it would not come on in the middle of the night. I did use a relay and it's mounted inside the FRB. It is a 4 wire, meaning two control wires and two power wires one from the 30 amp fuse and one to the pump. There is a 30 amp fuse feeding the pump motor. The control wiring fuse is much smaller, maybe a 15 amp. I put in a switch with a pilot light to remind me that the power is on if I forget to turn it off at night. One other problem these units had was improper plumbing of the pressure switch, it was put in the wrong location by Monaco when built. I removed it and installed in the proper position, otherwise the pump would run more than it needed to since it was not reading tank pressure. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  9. This has been our biggest problem. Since we travel across many states, a repair we have done in one state may not fail until we are in another state thousands of miles away. We used to go to a Cummins Coach Care near us. Had an oil leak on the hydraulic pump. Cummins put on a new gasket, for hundreds of dollars. That repair lasted a few hundred miles when we were several states away. Took it into a generic truck repair shop in Texas. Problem was the Cummins gasket is too thin. Truck repair shop made a gasket from thicker material. Not another drop of oil since and it was half the price we paid Cummins. Had Cummins replace exhaust pipe in WA state. Pipe fell off in Texas. Cummins did not reinstall the bolt that holds the pipe in place. We have found one shop we trust but they are hundreds of miles away in a different state. Finding a good shop seems to depend on luck. Our closest repair shop near us is still about 100 miles away. Half of the stuff they fix we have to take back when the repair fails, that's if we are still home and have not left on a trip. So we've tried the big name shops and the small one shop independent shops. Hit and miss. Biggest problem is we are usually many miles away if the repair fails. Will we ever go back to a Cummins shop, probably not. When the pipe fell off I called them to see if they would overnight a new clamp since the existing clamp had broke when the pipe fell off and they would not even offer to help. So repairs done all over the country, some fail and what do you do? Best case is being in one area long enough to take the coach back to where they didn't fix it the first time. And if you do choose to go back to the original shop will they pay your fuel bill to get back to have the repair fixed? Most likely not.
  10. My docking lights need to be replaced. Can not find a replacement. They are the oval, about 6 inches across I think. The mounting screws are all rusted and stripped. Need to replace the whole assembly. LED of course. Need to replace 4. Any ideas on where to look? Thanks. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal RV
  11. Commercial Goodyear tire centers usually have the ability to do these alignments. What about Love's truck stops? Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  12. We have the same problems at times, not always though. Replaced all the under sink valves, didn't help. Someone suggest checking the connection of tank and vent stack. There could be a broken seal there that allows gas into the coach as the tank fills or empties and the size of the tank changes a little. Have not gone to all the work to get to these tank/stack connections yet. If it looks like that might be the problem, I think I'll try some caulking called "big stretch" to reseal. 13. We have AAA RV and CoachNet, haven't had to use either one. Plus our insurance, Safeco, has a small benefit as well. One tow from out in nowhere land and we should be covered pretty well. We carry a couple plans because of limitations or deductibles and so on.
  14. Thanks. I'll check out all of the fixes. I know the glides get really gummed up. I'm going to have a machinist friend take a look at things when we get the coach back from the shop. Everything covered by warranty at the moment, but that won't last much longer. I'm glad we where not on the road when the "fix" failed. After a quick look at the motor and gear assembly before going to the shop, it seemed to me that some improvements could be made to it. Thanks again, great group. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  15. Our 09 Dynasty is in the shop to get the steps repaired. This is the second time. The steps will not go in all the way. They seem to stutter and stop with about 3 or 4 inches short of closing. Fixed once and then failed again within about a dozen times using them. Repair shop says the plates, gears and bolt holes are pretty worn out. And some of the parts are no longer available. May need to replace the whole thing before long, there is very little fixing left to be done with what's left of the gears and plates. Anyone found a way to replace the kwikee/lippert steps? Or can the parts be machined to create new plates. The motor is still available I'm sure, and the gears as well. It's the rest of the hardware I'm not sure about. I have not tried the salvage yards yet. Thanks in advance. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  16. Good to know Frank. My fuel tank is mid mounted. So I have two bays behind steering axle, then fuel and propane, one more bay and then all the holding tanks and aqua hot, then drive axle. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  17. Thanks everyone. Been checking every day for any new signs, so far nothing. I've got some of the black foam to copy what Monaco used. Will try the scented stuff as well. Have bait blocks around on the outside. Several 5 gallon bucket water traps, caught one there in a outbuilding new the coach. Have one of those commercial spring traps on the outside. Nothing been eating the blocks or in the spring trap. While researching for types of baits for squirrels to trap with, learned that squirrels eat mice. That might explain the lack of mice around. Because there should be a lot of them around since we live out in the country. So maybe the scent of the squirrel has kept the mice away. None the less, I need to get a book on how to contort myself into a couple pretzel shapes to get to one of the gaps I can see. Up in the front dash/cap area there are some suspect areas, some can only "feel". Need to invest in one of those little cameras. Frank, I've I understand it about the frame rail covers, these are the panels that are accessed and removed from inside the storage bays? Took the one down just forward of the wet bay and cleaned up the messes there. Looking forward from the drive axle under the coach I can't see any gaps or holes, but take a closer look, need to crawl back there anyway to tighten an air coupling. I know that squirrel was running back and forth between the front dash and under cabinets on driver side, so those panels will be coming off as well. Does anyone know if the bottom of the sink cabinet can be removed? This is a stepped or two level shelve/bottom, there are two screw heads right there looking up at me like removing them might allow me to remove that bottom and would make getting to that area so much easier, but I don't want to get in there like a bull in a china shop and tear something up that might be mounted to the underside of the bottom. Thanks again to everyone , all good advice. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  18. Nice job Hitechpete, that 3M film is not the easiest to work with. I ended up with a few bubbles doing mine, but it's way better than the broken plastic it used to be. I would like to build a custom console that would mount above the instrument panel so to be able to keep my eyes on the road while looking at GPS and other things. I'd really like to remount my Allison shift pad to a better location, up in front of me where I can see the selections. Has anyone relocated the shift pad? I looked into an extension cable for the control but was told they do not make one. So I would have to splice/solder wires to extend the pad to relocate to the dash in front of me. But one of these days, I may just take it on. 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  19. The woodwork on the Beavers were incredible. 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  20. No thanks, I'll pass on that one. Looks like they are competing with the new Winnie Tour. By the time it's optioned out you'd be looking at around $400k. 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  21. Good to know. Have not seen anything since the trapping. Found a couple gaps to be filled with foam soon. Hard to get to some of these places. 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  22. We have not found any droppings or other signs except under the kitchen cabinets, out on the floor and under the bed. That tells me it's moving from one side to the other under flooring, I'm guessing there must be a space between the floor and what might be considered the ceiling/roof on the basement. We could hear it move from under the cabinets to the front dash area. Glad we caught it but I sure don't want that mess again. So the hunt begins to find the hole(s).
  23. Just trapped a grey squirrel in our Dynasty. The trap had 1 inch squares so the rat was big enough that it couldn't get out of the trap. Where might I find a hole big enough to have let it in? Mice get in, but they can get through openings the size of a dime. This guy was full grown. I just find it hard to believe there is a hole that big somewhere. Any ideas on where to look for such an opening? Thanks, 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  24. I had to return 3 sets of the 1/4 drive nut drivers to HF. The magnets had fallen out of a few of each set. I live 75 miles one way to the nearest HF so I don't get down there that often. I take what is left of each of the 3 sets thinking they will just replace the sets. No, they replace each of the bad ones. So I ask they guy, "you are going to open that package and just take out one of the nut drivers"? , he said yes they only replace the bad nut drivers individually. So I ask, what will you do with that set of nut drivers now that the package is open and one of the nut drivers have been removed. He said they will mark down what is left in the package. I think that is pretty stupid if you ask me and I tell him so. That left a sour taste in my mouth after driving down to get a replacement set of the bad nut drivers. Seems to me that if you are selling a set in a package, why not just give me the set? Why open the package, take one out, and then try to sell what's left? I have never seen one of those marked down open packages at HF. These things are cheap, $5 bucks, they cost HF maybe $2 bucks, and they are going to open a package and take one nut driver out? I won't go back. I know going in that it's chinese crap, OK, I get it, I'm not paying Snap On prices. And Snap On breaks too. I have a 3/8 ratchet that I need to have replaced. But come on, breaking open a $5 buck package of nut drivers? As to the jack stands, I use a 20 ton bottle jack and timbers to place under the frame, I would never use any body's jack stand for that. When I use jack stands on my pickup I use two sets in case one fails.
  25. Passport America and the TDS fuel card are the best. We did a 10,000 mile trip on Passport America and at times saved almost a dollar per gallon on fuel with the TDS card. Roadmiester 09 Dynasty Regal IV
